The Best Dam Spot
We loved our overnight here. The setting is perfect right next to the river. Clean out house. Easy in and out with the help of the wagons. We will be back!

The Best Dam Spot was truly a unique spot. The white noise of the water fall was soothing to fall asleep to (at the closer camp spots.) There were other camp sites nearby, but not loud enough to bother. The water was nice and clear that you even get to see some swim fish by! The kayaks seemed fun to use (unfortunately didn't get to use em') but saw plenty of other people try em' out. Fishing there was my main reason of going and my fiance and I were not disappointed. Overall great spot to camp and will be coming back in the Spring to enjoy the water in hotter weather!

First off, Laura is the perfect host. 12/10. Extremely accommodating, sweet, and funny. The property is beautiful. They have carts to bring your things to and from the little parking area. 4 great camping spots. The dam is beautiful. The water is clear. Laura has kayaks and SUP’s to use. Her BIL has firewood for sale on property. Just make sure to bring your own fire rack for cooking!! We’ll be back.

The photos don’t do the place justice. The waterfall takes your breath away!
The water is gorgeous, the land is well taken care of, and so many amenities.
We will definitely return.
Ran by kind souls and if you’re lucky you’ll even see a cute tabby kitty running around.

We had such an incredible time camping at Laura’s spot. The water was amazing, we kayaked upstream to swim with the turtles and ended the night around a campfire. The amenities are more than you could ask for! Hot showers after swimming in the river were such a treat. Would 10/10 recommend! One of the best hip camps I’ve visited.

The Best Dam Spot
The area was beautiful especially with the damn flowing in the background. 20 minutes from San Marcos but still isolated enough to feel like your away from everything. Kayaking was a highlight as well with easy waters to navigate. Would come again

Beautiful place and the host Laura was so easy to communicate with. Our youngest daughter has camped here several times and we decided to join in this time and it did not disappoint! We will be back.

The host was wonderful, the spot and views were amazing! We were right off San Marcos River. The kayaks were the coolest addition. I couldn’t have picked a better spot for my sons’ first camping trip. Thank you for the sweetest memories. Will definitely be back.

we had such a great stay! the entire campground was beautiful and well-kept. the host was super friendly and showed us around, which we really appreciated. the wagons made it easy to carry our gear, and it was so relaxing to read while sitting in the water. we also loved using the provided kayaks, and the showers were a nice bonus after a day outdoors. highly recommend!

Great camping experience with a beautiful river - you just can't go wrong with this place.
Laura, the camp host, was phenomenal. She greeted us upon arrival and took the time to show us around the property. What really impressed me was when she called the morning of our trip to let us know about incoming bad weather and offered to let us reschedule with no problem. Very thoughtful.
The site amenities exceeded our expectations. Having plug-in power was incredibly convenient, and the hot shower after a day of outdoor activities was a game-changer. Even the porta potty was well-maintained and clean.
The real highlight was the river - it was absolutely beautiful! Laura provided paddleboards and kayaks, which we took full advantage of.
Being able to hop on the water whenever we wanted made the trip special. We also had great success fishing and caught a bunch of fish throughout our stay.
Overall, this was a fantastic camping experience. The combination of excellent amenities, a gorgeous natural setting, fun activities, and an incredibly welcoming host made for a memorable trip.
I'd highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a well-equipped camping spot with plenty to do. We'll definitely be back!

Laura's property is absolutely beautiful and she really makes sure to take care of her campers. This is my second visit to this campsite and I will be returning. It is so peaceful with the sounds of the water flowing down stream it knocked me right out and I slept like a baby! The camp ground was extremely clean and if with only 4 campsites you were never too close together or felt like you didn't have your own space. We also had come right after a storm which of course brings all the critters out but everyone who works there made sure anything to bad was taken care of right away. For instance our campsite had lots of fire ants/ ants in general roaming around and within minutes of me letting them know, someone was down there laying down some ant keep away and the ants all dispersed within 20 minutes making it much more enjoyable. I can not stress enough how amazing staung here is if you have the opportunity.

What a gem!!! An incredibly beautiful spot. Serene and quite with so many things to do with the kids. Loved that they had small kayaks for my daughter to use. One of the best dam spots i've camped at. We will return.

The best dam spot really is the best damn spot lol. Great views, the water was great and clear, we got to see lots of animals (the ducks were our favorite). It was Laura’s sister who greeted us when we got there and she was incredible. She was friendly and showed us all the ins and outs when we arrived.

Laura was very attentive and thorough with check in. The pictures of this site does not do it justice! My group and I had a great time :) We were only there for one night but could’ve easily spent a good few days just on the property. There were kayaks and paddle boards to use which we definitely took advantage of. You won’t be disappointed, just book it!

On arrival they provided large wagons to assist with moving our belongings. Once camp was set up I was able to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Kayaks and life vests were provided. Fishing was the the most fun. The further you move down river away from the damn the better the fishing is. I would recommend this place to a friend and I would revisit this site again in the future.

I love the spot was so peaceful relaxing 😌. Me and sister went camping swim and stargazing for 2 days as a road trip from houston to get away from the city and we enjoy our stay here . We be back 😎. We also love the hospitality!!! Restrooms clean 👌🏽

The place is designed considering all the aspects. I had great first camping experience. We setup our tent next to the river on the gravel. The river water is only 3-4 inches deep, setup our camping chairs on the water. We spent hours in the water, just dipping our legs. Restrooms are very clean, she setup lights to use the restroom on the night. The place got lot of kayaks and safety jackets, free to use. You can kayak as long as you want.
Lots of ants, you can't keep the food outside, keep food only on the cooler. I have ant bite allergy, unfortunately i got any bites and allergy too.

It was incredibly beautiful on her land and she provided a bunch of floaties and a kayak. There were lightning bugs glowing throughout the night and it made for an incredible view, as I’m from California and we don’t have that kind of stuff. I will say that there were a lot of bugs and spiders, but it’s a small price to pay for a beautiful camping site
