Low Gear Farmstead is fantastic! The campsites are very well spaced and private, the land is beautiful, the river lovely, and the owners couldn’t be friendlier. I’ll definitely be staying again!

Low gear farmstead is amazing! Super friendly hosts with great directions to the site. Beautiful piece of land and there are so many stars in the sky at night! Bjorn their dog was a great visitor as well! Some of the sites are right on the river and you can hear it at night. Will definitely be coming back!

Amazing camp site, awesome people! Loved the orchard falls, I wouldn’t mind any of the sites though all seemed wonderful. You’re far away from everything while you can still get some groceries in town in Menard. Overall, no complaints.

Breathtaking Views
This is an awesome camping spot. I arrived after dark, and the host was still kind enough to greet me upon arrival. The farmstead is huge, and the drive from the main house to the campsite was long enough to feel privacy but not so long that I worried about camping alone. Firewood was readily available and affordable, and the firepit at the site was a great bonus. The Hilltop site feels like you were dropped into a Bob Ross painting. No lie. The gentle sound of the river, the abundance of birds, and the sunrise was incredible. They have a composting toilet a short walk away, and that was the only time I heard or saw the nearest campsite. And despite camping alone, Bjorn was nice enough to have breakfast with me :) I loved my trip to Low Gear and can't wait to return!

River View
Peaceful secluded spot right on the river. Enjoyed paddling on the river and my cat got to meet the goats. Friendly hosts and easy to follow directions. Lots of stars! Will definitely be back when back in the area.

This was my second time at this awesome little Hipcamp gem outside Menard. The folks who run it are such great people, and I come up with excuses to visit the area just so I can stay at their place. Get the coffee and eggs if they have them!

River View
This was my fourth time camping at Low Gear Farmstead and it’s still as wonderful as ever. I really enjoyed camping next to the San Saba, hearing the river run at night, and my dog loved meeting and playing with the other dogs on the farm. Logan, Geer, and their adorable baby Kestrel were perfect hosts. As always, highly recommend.

Site for Stargazers
Thanksgiving at Stargazers.
What a great property for tent camping. We went over Thanksgiving and it was so peaceful and quiet with beauty all around. Had an excellent time on a canoe trip down the San Saba river, felt like we were in the 1800's, just us and nature. We tried the neighbor's farm grown coffee and wish we had bought more, just delicious. Logan is great, very warm and peaceful experience all around. We will be back to try the other spots, there are four sites available and we were at Stargazers, which had the added quaint (to us) bonus of a rooster crowing in the start of a new day -- we loved it!

A good place to breath deeply!
We had a great time at this peaceful and scenic place. We had fun fishing, canoeing, foraging, visiting the animals and bathing in the river. Logan and Gere are really welcoming and helpful hosts. We hope to be back!

Orchard Falls
We slept under the most beautiful and mighty Mother Pecan tree. The rushing water of the San Saba River made for the most peaceful sleep. Logan and Gear were wonderful hosts who guided us to our campsite. The farm is full of life! The goats and dogs were welcoming and adorable. We'd love to come back!

Camping under Pecan Canopy
What a beautiful and peaceful camping spot. We had a great fire pit, lovely views, and so much peace and quiet. It had rained and the road was quite muddy but the surroundings more than made up for the mud. Access to the river, walking around the family farm, and a composting toilet were all bonuses. I'm truly looking forward to staying here again!

Best Camping Experience!
We loved tent camping on Logan's stunning acreage and we definitely plan to return. Our favorite aspects of the experience: river access; canoe for rental; goats, chickens, turkeys, horses, & super sweet pups; fire pit and wood onsite for purchase; only 4 camping sites and each site is spread out for privacy; good area for stargazing (plus the moon put on a beautiful show); inexpensive; easy drive getting there and once at the site, the directions to the land were clear; remote, relaxing, peaceful, and rejuvenating experience; safe and welcoming to LGBTQ & BIPOC campers; and kind and generous hosts. We give our experience 11 stars out of 10, in the spirit of Spinal Tap.

Logan’s land was absolutely stunning. We slept under the pecan trees on the river and went for a swim in the morning. Logan was lovely to talk to and had fresh local coffee and firewood for sale upon request. Very clear directions.

The ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pooper
This is not the first time I’ve camped at the LGF and it definitely won’t be the last. The orchard, river and the ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ pooper are a humbling moment at the LGF that we all should experience.. time kinda stops here as you sit and watch the pecans drop huddled below Batman doing Yoga. Also There is a dog that looks like his name should be Burt Reynolds, hints his black and gold colors of the bandit that likes to visit and pee on your tire, lol he is determined to let you know.., who’s house? His house.. lol
NOTE: this place all around has great energy. Definitely a 3 day weekend kinda get away. Enjoy:)

What’s not to love?
Loved pretty much everything about my experience here. Cell reception for me nonexistent but is that a bad thing?
Had a super time with some way back friends who met me here. The hosts were very accommodating to allow a couple extra vehicles.
I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to relax at Lowgear for a couple days.

A Fantastic Campsite
This was my second visit to Logan and Geer's beautiful Low Gear Farmstead. I had previously stayed at the River View location in May 2021. This time I stayed at Orchard Falls and it was absolutely incredible.
Upon my arrival, Logan and Geer were there to meet me. Having been there previously, they gave me verbal direction to the Orchard Falls location. It was an easy drive to the site and there are signs that pointed me to the location.
To say I was amazed when I arrived would be an understatement. The site is very well sized, shaded by huge trees, and very close to the San Saba River. It was stunning.
As I was driving to the location, I saw I had a neighbor in the adjacent site. The sites are spread out so the only time I saw my neighbor was when I went hiking. There is enough space between sites that you feel very secluded.
My only visitor was Logan and Geer's pup that came down to greet us and play with my pup. Their dog is incredibly friendly and was a welcomed companion.
My pup and I enjoyed swimming in the river and listening to the breeze through the trees. Though the tree canopy is moderately thick, we were still able to enjoy the bright stars during the moonless night. My only regret during the visit was not walking to the open field near the Stargazer site to enjoy their beauty.
I had such a relaxing and peaceful time, during my stay that I booked a final fall visit at the Orchard Falls site in 2 weeks.
