Excellent weekend adventure spot
Had a blast camping at Alamo! The camp grounds are beautiful and hard everything we needed. We had our own picnic table and fire pit, and had easy access to toilets. The camp grounds are right along the Medina River so it was super easy/convenient to hop in the water to cool off.
The staff was also super friendly. Louis even gave us some of his homemade salsa to take home. Super tasty!
Will definitely camp here again

Mixed review
Unfortunately we had trouble getting in. We had been forgotten and the gates here lock. Someone that lives there contacted the owner for us and we were eventually settled in. The bathrooms and showers were clean and the campground was nice and the sites were very spacious. Almost everyone else there appears to live there full time, but the people were still very quiet. There is a dog rescue next door and the dogs' were very noisy, but quieted down at night. Despite being forgotten about and the dogs we would likely stay here again.

Great campsite!
This was my mine and my kids first time staying on the grounds and we had a great time! Great access to medina river to do some fishing, great firepit set up on site for cooking, and had a very nice, large area to setup a tent! Loved that water spigots were on the campsite, and porta potties were close by as well! Our neighbors got a little rowdy later in the night, but nothing too crazy. Other than that, would definitely camp out there again!

Great spot! We went during the week and had it to ourself. Although sites are close to one another in some areas so if fully booked it would have been a different experience. Tent camping is completely separate from the RV park and are accessible with any vehicle. *Site 36 has direct river access. There’s plenty of wildlife and peace while still being close to the city. We will be back! —but during the week ;)

NICE for short or long term!
The property is a RV park. It has some permanent residents but no worries! The park is clean, quiet and the people are friendly. Pad sites are gravel and level. 30a (lighted pedestal), potable water and sewer all in one location on the site. Even has a well water hook up to use for rinsing off trailer or toy, fire ring and picnic table on concrete pad. Has a dog area and the trail to the river is near by (which is beautiful!) Didn’t utilize the hiking trails so can’t comment on that. Saw a herd of deer, long horn cattle and armadillos routinely! Cafe nearby has AMAZING tacos! Real convenient to all things San Antonio. Will definitely stay here again! One word of advice is to make sure your contact number with HIpCamp is correct so if you’re a late arrival and contact Lisa via message,, the gate code (front gate gets secured every evening) and pad # she sends will be sent correctly. I unfortunately did not check and had to spend the night outside the facility. Lesson learned Lol!

A fun overnight trip
Our friends and pups had a great time! Tons of shade and great waterfront for the dogs to swim. There's also about 5 miles of trails to explore.

Very cool!
Alamo River RV Ranch & Camp is pretty amazing! Lisa was supper helpful, fast, and accurate in all the details! The woods area we camped is wonderful and quiet and also close the the river (the river is only a few min walk) is pretty nice as well! Our kids enjoyed paddling the San Antonio River, swinging on the vines and relaxing! Can’t believe it’s so close to San Antonio! We will be back!!

Our last minute trip.
Great location not far from our home in downtown San Antonio. We decided to have a last minute family camping weekend, this spot was perfect. Sites were clean and the hosts were awesome. Even with short notice the hosts replied quickly. Had a little rain but it made the trip more exciting. The camp sites all had fire rings and running water right next to the river. There were other campers but plenty of space to hike and walk by the river by ourselves. We will definitely be back again.

Great for last resort.
Great location and pretty decent camp sites. Only problem was it sounds like a dog pound is right next door and at about 6:30am it sounds like a friggin mad house. The sound of 20-30 big dogs going wild for about 2 hours is not how I like to start my day...

The site was ok. But next to the campground is some kind of dog boarding & the dogs barked a lot!

Easy relaxing quick camping trip
We stayed at the campground in a tent near the river. The campground is quite large and generally well maintained. The campsites are more secluded than the RV area. I would recommend camping here. In the future I would prefer to have a campsite next to the river rather than above it, like we were. We could access the river but we had to walk down a short steep embankment. Overall, nice and relaxing stay, just what we were looking for.

Noisy from 1604
Very close to home, but also very close to a train and 1604. It looks as though people live in campers on the RV side. The tent sites were beautiful. The porta potty was clean and close. The water spigot was handy. We appreciated the trash cans at each site. However, the noise was hard to get past. During the day, there are many dogs on a neighboring property that NEVER STOP barking. The train only comes by a few times. The 4 am road construction on (i think) 1604 was an unpleasant surprise. I was surprised you could hear traffic.

camping close to the city
Don't let the RV park at the top of the hill fool you! Once you head down to the camping area, this place feels more like your typical Texas state park car camping experience. Nice wooded trails with lots of deer roaming about. Plenty of tent sites with fire rings provided. The river is flowing, clean and accessible in several spots. Employees were all friendly and kept the place spotless. Train whistles and the sounds of I-35 will be your overnight companions but that's the price you pay for being close to home.

SA getaway.
Fantastic little getaway 18 miles south of downtown San Antonio. Perfect spot on the Medina River for a night of several. Hiking trails are abundant.
Tent Sites
The setting is beautiful and the owner was very nice. However, there was enough picnic tables to go around or clearly marked sites. We had a group site with no picnic table which made things difficult. We were not prepared for that. We also were confused about where our site was as there weren’t clearly marked sites.
It is a beautiful piece of land, clean, lots of trails to hike, places to play in the water and we had a good experience despite the frustration of no table.

Great place. You can hear the highway and the trains but the campsites are right on the water and can be very private. Staff is very respectful of space, and very courteous and helpful. Not out in the middle of nowhere but a great place to get away.

Sometimes you just need to get away
We were needing a quick getaway from Austin and all the parks were full. So glad we hopped on Hipcamp to find this spot! We didn't end up staying near the water but walked around down there, truly beautiful. The spot we got instead was secluded and quiet and having a water spigot was a bonus. Got a beautiful night's rest! Though it's an RV park you are too far to really hear any generators, it honestly feels even more secluded than the parks (although obviously smaller in scale). Highly recommend this spot and am looking forward to the upgrades they are planning to do.
