Amazingly private. There's a rec centre and rental cottage also on the property but out of sight and ear shot of the campsite. Convenient bathroom with a shower at the rec centre within a 1-2 min. walk. Victor was a great host and provided everything we needed. Had a fun paddle boat ride on the lake and loved hiking the long private trails. Some sections of the trails are tricky. Looking forward to spending a week there next summer.

What an amazing property! The site was exactly as described. We needed for nothing. Victor brought by brand new camp chairs for us and sweetly asked, "Can I come in?" when he arrived at the site with them. We loved the trails. We spotted a porcupine, a deer, an owl, heard raccoons, beavers and countless frogs and birds. We will be returning!

Wonderful tent camping site. Victor has gone above and beyond most other campsite operators providing a lovely wooded campsite with an elevated tent platform, great firepit, firewood as well as fire starter and kindling, potable water, propane bbq, screened dining tent, countertop for food prep, all in a private woodland setting yet within walking distance to hot shower and flush toilet. Highly recommend!

My partner and I stayed one night and were surprised by the quality of the campsite and amenities were. Victor and Paul were very kind and welcoming. It was beyond our expectations and we are definitely coming back, hopefully for longer than one night.

Loved this little wilderness retreat! Victor was very kind and sweet. He was always a call or a text away if needed. But mostly everything was provided. Naomi was such a darling showing us around when we got there.
A bbq for cooking, water to drink and do dishes, drying rack and sink provided. The platform so set up our tent was very nice. Cute little sitting area with a cover! Our pups absolutely loved running through the trails, which was beautifully marked. Canoes, pedal boats and floaties were all provided if you like. Or just sit on the dock and enjoy the beautiful views of the lake.
This one is for the books, absolute must if you enjoy the outdoors.

We loved our stay at this campsite! Super private, quiet and relaxing. Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Campsite was more than we could have asked for, they really have thought of everything to make our stay accommodating. The washrooms were very clean. Lovely to have access to some canoes to paddle around the lake. Many well marked trails around the property to explore. We will happily return for another stay!!

Absolutely loved this spot! The hosts are so kind and have provided everything you need. There is a wagon to move your belongings, a platform for a tent, a bbq and tools, dish bin, water jugs, clothes line, table/stools and dining tent! It is very private and peaceful which was perfect for our fearful dog. Our pups had so much fun swimming and hiking the trails. Definitely bring lots of bug spray though! Highly recommend!

Victor was an extremely dedicated and positive host jumping at any suggestion or request to ensure we had a wonderful stay. The site is very private and has everything you could need- even dishwashing station and drying rack. The site is not directly on the water but a quick 3min walk away. Extremely generous hosts and special place- good value and clean site.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay here! There was so much to explore, and we loved having a comfortable place to come back to at the end of the day. We appreciated the raised platform for our tent (our 4 person dome tent just fit on the platform, so make sure to check your tent dimensions) which kept us dry on the rainy night, the barbecue for cooking, and the dining/bug tent over the picnic table which protected us from the many mosquitos and deer flies during our July stay! We had a very relaxing, peaceful time. We took our anxious dog, who wouldn't normally do well at a regular public campground, and he was able to have a great time in the private, quiet, setting. The indoor bathroom and shower were a very welcomed perk!

We had a wonder time camping here! The property is absolutely beautiful, there was so much to explore. The campsite is amazingly private and really well set up! Our dogs loved the freedom as well. Victor was wonderful to deal with, from booking to our tour of the area when we arrived. Thank you so much for sharing your little slice of nature with us!

Had an awesome stay here! Big thanks to the hosts (and owner!) who truly care for all people, the land and all creatures great and small inclusively. The campsite was beautiful, peaceful, and super well-maintained. I hiked two of the longer trails that were exceptionally well marked and easy to follow that took me through woodlands and past some small scenic waterfalls.
When an intense thunderstorm lit up the sky the night, I ducked into the nearby Sumac Lodge basement and stayed warm, dry and safe. It actually made the trip even more memorable! Huge thanks to the amazing hosts for creating such a welcoming spot. Can’t wait to come back! Highly, highly recommend. Thank you for making the weekend unforgettable! Would love to experience it in the winter.

This place is gorgeous and absolutely magical! The campsite is definitely a step up from regular camping, with a wooden tent platform, a BBQ, and a little table to eat at. Very well maintained and clean, with everything you need - and access to an indoor bathroom! It's just a short walk to a beautiful lake, and there are a number of hiking trails as well. The host, Victor, was incredibly gracious and communicative - he met us there, showed us around, and made sure we had everything we needed. This was a fantastic experience and I'll certainly be back!

This has become my new happy place. Sitting here writing this during our second stay at the Sumac campsite 2 weeks after our first stay. It has everything you could want and more. Victor and Paul are so incredibly kind and welcoming! Our dogs are so happy being free to run around their MASSIVE property! Not only do you have access to an indoor working bathroom and shower, we also haven’t stayed anywhere yet that had a completely private campsite and almost 580 acres of untouched forest and trails to explore. You never need to leave the property, really. They recommended the cascade trail, and so do we! Such an incredible view and sooo worth the hike!
This is also a mushroom lovers paradise! I can’t count how many different species I found even just getting out of the car! Our second stay was very last minute. We booked another hipcamp in New Liskeard and when we arrive we realized that it was not at all what was described or sold to us. It was a 9 hour drive and 7:30pm before we arrived and disappointed would be an understatement for how we felt about what we were given. We found a motel 3 hours away for the night and contacted Victor the next morning. Their campsite was available and he let us set up that day! They absolutely saved our weekend and we couldn’t be more grateful!!! We will be back again and again.
I wish I could post all the gorgeous photos I took but I’ll settle with these.

The weather didn't cooperate, but this site is great if you're looking for a combination of comfort and privacy/wilderness. Comforts included: clean washroom more private than what you'd have at a comfort station at a provincial park, wood in a covered box on site that is great even if you run into rain (moist with humidity but not too wet to build a fire), filled water, a propane grill to make cooking easy, and a table with stools under a mesh tent to protect you from the (many) mosquitoes. The lake is a short walk away at the lodge, and has lovely grounds with some sitting areas (benches, dock, rocks) that were filled with thyme which provides a delightful scent in addition to the view. We only did one hike because of the rain - the trail was very well marked and led past nice marshes to another small, private lake.

Highly recommend this site to anyone who's an outdoorsy person. We had an awesome time in complete solitude as they only had 1 site to offer which was a huge must for us looking for a spot to avoid any type of stress and to decompress. There are a ton of stunning hiking trails, and we were able to check them all out, very well maintained and easy for even the most unoriented person to follow! The hosts were both very friendly and welcoming upon our arrival and made sure we knew if we needed anything they were around to help us out in any way they could which was awesome! Very healthy forest with lots of birds and wildlife to see and endless amount of activities to do, this was a true vacation we desperately needed from life. As a personal note, I'd recommend the woodland and cascade trails, if your time is limited. Next time we come around we would like to have a picnic along the rocks of the cascade trail. It was magical! Another personal note; the very careful conservation approach they take to ensure the waterfront is reserved (trails not made too close to the water's edge), speaks volumes to their vision to maintain ecological conservation which is a massive admiration from myself as it's a very important vision for myself personally. I'd rate this stop a full 10/5 stars and a must for anyone looking for the peace and tranquility of nature away from other people/pets alike. My personal favorite vacation I've taken so far, I hope to be back next year, well worth the travel

Our stay of three nights was just perfect! Directions to camp are clear, warm greetings from Paul & Victor, they are such good people! The site is well equipped and intimate..The lake is so pure! Trails are well indicated and we feel safe even though we are so deep! This place has so much to offer, a real gem!

We had such an amazing stay at Victor’s Trail View Platform.
The site is just perfect. Victor and Paul made sure we had everything we needed. We were provided potable water, BBQ and plenty more.
The site is on the Sumac Centre property which allows you an access to a very clean private shower and bathroom. Victor took time to show us the Centre and made sure we felt at home. There are lakes, hiking trails and plenty of things to explore on the property. We had the best star gazing experience on the lake. It gets so dark, we were blessed with multiple shooting stars.
Sharbot Lake is about 20 minutes away from the property, we had a great day paddleboarding on the lake. Made a stop at Cardinal Cafe which had amazing coffee.
Will book again for sure !

This was a nice private spot, and exactly how it was described in the listing. We brought our dog and she was able to enjoy herself off leash as the site is surrounded by trees and no clear line of site to the Sumac Centre (or anything for that matter).
The host at the Centre (Paul) was very welcoming and helpful, allowing use of the shower, toilet, and fresh water. Victor also checked in on us to ensure our camping experience was enjoyable.
We had a nice swim in the lake, off the dock. We didn’t get a chance to hike but there are many hiking options available at the site. We camped mid July, which brings with it some annoying insects, but we brought plenty of bug spray and Thermacells, which made a huge difference.
It was great to have a tent platform, but make sure you pay attention to the dimensions to make sure your tent will fit. It is not designed for large cabin tents. Our four person dome tent fit perfectly with extra space on each side to keep other items off the ground as needed.
Parking is at the entrance to the tent site with a very short walk from there to the site. This was not an issue for us by any means, but just something to be aware of if you plan to access your vehicle frequently.
Definitely recommend this site and we will stay again.

Ok, back country camping is stars, solitude, trails to explore, swimming in unpolluted lakes and nature as it is supposed to be, 🐾 wild. Now imagine a perk (or two) to your camping trip... Like a raised platform for your tent, clean potable water, a BBQ, food prep area, table and chairs, Wait, there's more; a washroom, a shower 🚿, a dock to chill on, canoes , paddle boat and a private lake. Did I mention that you have the only tent site?
I booked at the last minute on a long weekend, bonus! The caretakers of the 1000 acre property were great 👍. We didn't need anything but if we did I'm sure they would have found a solution.
We hiked one of the five trails (well marked I might add), swam in the lake and had a campfire. Lots of photo opportunities to be had.
The site was very private and spacious. There is much more to this special place. Go and explore for yourself. And as with any other camping adventure, bring bug spray.
