Our tiny Cabaña is tucked away in the woods on our gorgeous, private 10-acre property in the heart of North Durham. We offer a unique glamping experience with all the benefits of camping, but with a roof over your head, floor under your feet and super cool amenities.
Please read our full listing before requesting a booking. If you’re unsure about something, just ask. We’re very laid back, approachable and inclusive people, and can’t wait to welcome you.
Nearby
We’re surrounded by Beaverton on Lake Simcoe, Port Perry on Lake Scugog and Uxbridge (the Trail Capital of Canada), which are a close driving distance away. Around the corner from us, the Beaver River Wetland Trail (part of the Trans Canada Trail) is the perfect place for a hike or bike ride.
There’s lots of other exciting things to do and see in the surrounding areas – fabulous restaurants, breweries and wineries, top golf courses, beaches, fishing, watersports, agri-tourism experiences, events and more. Upon your arrival, we’ll provide you with an up-to-date list of recommendations based on the season.
While on-site, you can visit our chickens, learn about honey bees, stroll the property, visit our boutique farm market and enjoy some good eats from our Smoke Shack (open Saturdays and Sundays from May long weekend until the end of October). Check out villavidalocamarket.com for a listing of pop-up dinners, events with live music at our Cowboy Cauldron, cooking classes and more. There may be something going on during the time you’d like to visit.
The Glamping Experience
This is a rustic – but luxurious – Cabaña glamping experience. Nothing beats falling asleep to the sounds of crickets and frogs, and waking up under a canopy of trees to the sounds of birds singing and smell of sweet nature.
As the Cabaña is in the forest, it’s easily accessible by wild animals, such as bears, coyotes, fox and other critters (oh my!), as well as mosquitos, spiders and bugs. If you’re not an outdoorsy person, this might not be the best experience for you.
We also have two large, friendly dogs who will be properly introduced to all guests upon arrival. Kota and Maximus are absolutely going to visit you, so if you’re not dog people, this may not be the stay for you either.
Want to bring a couple of friends along for the adventure? We’ll allow up to two other guests in your party at a small additional cost. These guests will need to bring a tent, which may be placed next to, or nearby, the Cabaña.
Kids and dogs (as long as they get along with other dogs) are welcome!
The Indoor Space
The Cabaña has a sleeping loft (accessed by ladder only) with a comfortable queen size mattress. Bedding and pillows are included and laundered after every guest visit. Heads up (or down?!): It’s not possible to stand in the sleeping loft area – the ceiling has angles and the height at its highest point is under 4 feet.
Enjoy comfortable, indoor seating with pillows, blankets and a coffee table. We also provide a Keurig coffee maker, coffee and mugs in the Cabaña.
There isn’t any heating or air conditioning, but we have a fan for those hot summer nights.
There is WiFi available but no TV.
The Outdoor Space
You will prepare all meals outdoors (view our list below of everything you’ll need to bring) – there’s no kitchen for cooking. We supply a small propane-fired tabletop BBQ outside the cabin.
If camp cooking isn’t your thing, or you simply want to treat yourself, we encourage you to enjoy one or two of the many local restaurants. On Saturdays and Sundays, from May long weekend until the end of October, our Smoke Shack (on-site) is also open with lots of delicious options to choose from.
There’s no running water in the Cabaña but we provide a hand washing station and outdoor camping shower.
We have a super cute, clean, camping outhouse located steps from the Cabaña. This is not a flushing toilet, it’s an outhouse.
Guests Also Have Access To:
• Large campfire pit with Muskoka chairs (free firewood provided)• Six-person hot tub• Large, in-ground swimming pool• Lounge chairs for tanning• Picnic table and hammock
Cabaña Access
Upon your arrival, we’ll greet you and show you around – so please keep us updated on your expected arrival time! The Cabaña is only accessible by foot. Parking is in the driveway in front of our home and the walk to the Cabaña is about 300 feet. Guests will access the Cabaña by heading to the right of our home, past the back deck and hot tub, past the campfire pit and on to the trail to the left. Once in the woods, we ask that you stay on the trails as the property is not level with many hills, downed trees and stumps.
