Welcome to our cabins in the woods, in beautiful Sunderland, Ontario! Our tiny cabins are tucked away in the woods on our gorgeous, private 10-acre property in the heart of North Durham. We offer a unique glamping experience with all the benefits of camping, but with a roof over your head, floor under your feet and super cool amenities. Please read our full listings before requesting a booking. If you’re unsure about something, just ask. We’re very laid back, approachable and inclusive people, and can’t wait to welcome you. We’re surrounded by Beaverton on Lake Simcoe, Port Perry on Lake Scugog and Uxbridge (the Trail Capital of Canada), which are a close driving distance away. Around the corner from us, the Beaver River Wetland Trail (part of the Trans Canada Trail) is the perfect place for a hike or bike ride. There’s lots of other exciting things to do and see in the surrounding areas – fabulous restaurants, breweries and wineries, top golf courses, beaches, fishing, watersports, agri-tourism experiences, events and more. Upon your arrival, we’ll provide you with an up-to-date list of recommendations based on the season.

Our A-frame cabin is tucked away in the woods on our gorgeous, private 10-acre property in the heart of North Durham. We offer a unique glamping experience with all the benefits of camping, but with a roof over your head, floor under your feet and super cool amenities. We have two large, friendly dogs who will be properly introduced to all guests upon arrival. Kota and Kane are absolutely going to visit you, so if you’re not dog people, this may not be the stay for you. Kids and dogs (as long as they get along with other dogs) are welcome! The cabin has a large full size bed with French linen bedding and cozy pillows. We also provide a Keurig coffee maker, coffee and mugs. There is a space heater for cold nights, and a fan for those hot summer nights. There is WiFi available in common spaces but no TV. You will prepare all meals outdoors (bring all your own supplies to cook on BBQ or over the fire) – there’s no kitchen for cooking. We supply a picnic table with small propane-fired tabletop BBQ outside the cabin. There’s no running water inside but a private hot outdoor shower is located outside right next to the cabin. There is also a large sink with faucet to wash hands and dishes. **Winter months (November to April shower/sink is NOT available) ** We have a super cute, clean, camping outhouse. This is not a flushing toilet, it’s an outhouse. Upon your arrival, we’ll greet you and show you around – so please keep us updated on your expected arrival time! only accessible by foot. Parking is in the driveway in front of our home and the walk is about 300 feet. Guests will access by following the trail to the right of our home. Please do not bring your own firewood as we do not want to risk introducing pests or insects from firewood that travels here. We provide free wood from our own property. We do not charge a cleaning fee so that we can keep our rates as low as possible. We ask that you respect the property, clean up after yourself and leave no trace! Please remove and take all garbage and recycling with you.

The Loft
We stayed one night at the loft and had an amazing experience. Brian met us as we drove in and gave us a little tour of the property and where everything was. The cabin itself was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. The upgraded outhouse had a real camping toilet and a little sink to was your hands, a little luxury. We spent most of our time enjoying the outdoors by fire, eating smores and reading our books. Would definitely come back again!

This place was great. Everything we were looking for. Very nice hosts. Pool, jacuzzi sauna, bbq, running water, camp fire, electricity. What else do you need. We be going back.

It was so peaceful and quiet. Perfect getaway if you need time outside the city but not too far. Our dog loved exploring the area. There’s a lake nearby we didn’t have time to go, and that’s our one regret! Thanks again!

Amazing!
The Loft
The Loft was such an great experience. Ann and Brian were amazing and accommodating! The place is clean, has everything you’d need and all instructions are clear and everything is as advertised. Would definitely come again (maybe to try their other accommodation). Also, we’ve got a visit from one of their dogs and he was one of the best trained (and cutest) dogs ever! Thanks for a great experience! :)

A Perfect, Serene Escape! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The A-Frame
We had the most incredible romantic getaway at this absolutely gorgeous property! From the moment we arrived, the entire place felt like a peaceful, serene sanctuary. Our hosts were wonderfully friendly and welcoming, ensuring we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Here are a few highlights from our trip: Ultimate Relaxation: Having both the jacuzzi and sauna included in the price was an amazing bonus and made our evenings incredibly relaxing. Great Amenities: We loved spending time lounging by the beautiful open pool and even tiering ourselves out with a few fun games on the badminton court. A Special Furry Friend: A massive shoutout to the show stealer, Koda! He is such a friendly, energetic, and lovable dog who brought a huge smile to our faces every time we saw him. Everything about this stay was flawless. We are already missing the tranquility and might just have to come back and visit again soon! Ann & Brian, you guys are the best.

Love This Spot - one of a kind!
The A-Frame
One of our absolute favourite places to Hipcamp. It’s a truly one‑of‑a‑kind experience these hosts think of everything. From the funky outdoor shower to the clever dish‑washing setup, the perfect coffee in the A‑frame, endless firewood, gorgeous hiking spots, and the hot tub, pool, and sauna… it’s hard to imagine a better way to spend an extra‑special weekend. We love this place and would follow these hosts to any venture they pursue. Pure magic every time.

Brian & Ann are amazing hosts and their property is beautiful! Koda their dog is such a gentle giant and loved playing with my medium sized beagle/weiner dog mix. We stayed in the bunkie and it was perfect. The pool & hot tub were awesome! We will definitely be back!

Our Absolute Favorite Getaway!
The Loft
Villa Vida Loca is perfection! My partner and I absolutely love camping and exploring new places, but this spot has completely stolen our hearts, it is the only place we find ourselves constantly wanting and planning to visit again and again. ​We loved our first stay in October so much that we had to come back in June, and it was even better. Ann and Brian are incredible hosts who truly excel at everything they do. The property is mesmerizingly clean, incredibly organized, and the attention to detail is stunning. They have thought of everything you could possibly imagine or need: a remarkably comfortable cabin, a great shower and sink setup, a comfortable restroom, a hot tub, a sauna, and a beautiful lake with warm, crystal-clear water. ​If you have a dog, this is the absolute perfect place to go! Ann and Brian truly love dogs and will treat yours so incredibly well. Plus, your pup will even have a built-in buddy, sweet Koda. ​Brian made sure we were perfectly comfortable and had everything we needed throughout our stay. We are definitely planning a trip number three! 10/10 stars!

​A great place to relax in nature! The spa and sauna have a beautiful view of the trees, and the bonfire pit was perfect for cooking. They also have basic BBQ gear. Highly recommend if you want some quality downtime in the woods!

Exceeded Expectations
The A-Frame
Such a lovely place to relax and get cozy! The A-Frame is super comfortable and cute, outhouse was clean, shower with heated water was amazing, and hot tub/sauna was definitely a plus! We had a great time and would recommend this place to anyone looking for an opportunity to connect with nature. Wish we had more time there! Ann and Brian are also lovely hosts.

The Loft
Beautiful cabin. Cozy, warm, fun games and amazing scenery. Waking to the lake view down the path is a must! My now fiancé proposed during our stay and it was such a beautiful place to do so. Highly recommend! Ann and her husband were great hosts.

Wow! We came in mid October to see the autumn colors. What a great experience! First off the hosts are amazing and very helpful. The lodge itself is very comfy, the bed is super clean and comfy as well. There's enough firewood for the whole stay (2 Nights). Oh and our dog loved it as well! The place is around 20 min drive away from any nature hike, and there are plenty in the area. Highly reccomend

Great place away from the city
The A-Frame
When I arrived, I like the fact that the host was very informative. She gave us a tour of the location and a relaxing atmosphere. We really enjoyed the cabin. It was really very pretty. We also enjoyed the fire pit and the atmosphere. I would recommend it. Definitely a great place to go away from the city.

We really enjoyed our stay at the A frame! The space was cozy and comfortable, and it had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. We had such a wonderful stay at Viva Vila’s A-frame cabin! The host was incredibly warm and welcoming, which made our experience even better. This was our very first camping trip with our dog, and it couldn’t have gone more smoothly—we all absolutely loved it.
