Camp Rose Island

Sarah’s arrival instructions were perfect (our GPS definitely said we arrived before we arrived). We ended up being able to drive all the way in to our site in our Corolla, there was only one rock that stuck out a bit but Sarah warned us about it. The site itself was secluded and quiet, a good distance away from the next closest site. The lake was lovely, the land is lovely, Sarah is lovely; all around a lovely experience 💚

Staying at the Forest Site was a top notch experience! Sarah and Will were excellent hosts. Sarah met our car at the road when we arrived and showed us to our site so there were no issues at all in finding the campsite. The cooking area was so nice to have, especially since there was a fire ban and we couldn’t cook over the fire pit. The supplied tent was very roomy and comfortable and we also had plenty of space to pitch other tents. The Forest Site felt very isolated and private from the other sites. The shared beach area and swim dock were great and located on a beautiful private lake. Highly recommend and I hope to stay here again!

Peaceful and perfect!

The perfect space to disconnect from the every day hustle and bustle. We loved the silence and peaceful nature of being here! Will met us with a friendly welcome when we arrived and showed us to our site. We spent 4 nights; canoeing and spending time in the water while at night feeling memorized by a sky full of stars! We loved our stay and would recommend to anyone who truly loves being in nature and off grid camping!

It was quiet and rustic. The sites are all spread out nicely. The door to the screened shelter has quite a step to get in. But you can get in to from the side where the tent is. The tent was roomie. The lake is weedy and has sinky bottom, but deep enough in the middle where the floating dock is. There was a canoe and paddle board which was nice. So you can get out to the floating dock to have a swim. The outhouse was.your typical one. I would suggest adding some screen at the top of it to allow some light in it and it was a good distance from the tent about 60+ feet away. I would like to try the lake side site if a rent again next year, you get your own little dock and it looked like the lake was deeper along the shore line making it easier for a swim then the other dock. Overall would recommend.

Everything met our expectations at the forest site. 2 min walk to the lake which was nice. Enjoyed the canoes, some fishing and the paddleboard. It rained the whole time but that's out of everyone's control. The provided propane stove was handy. Just be sure to bring your own cutlery, pots, pans, napkins, etc... one person slept up on the bunk, while I set up a cot below. We both slept well. Recommend this to others looking to escape into the woods and not have to worry about bringing a tent.

We went camping with our kids and extended family, and it was a great experience! The kids loved being in nature, and we enjoyed cooking, playing, and sleeping in our two big tents plus the extra tents provided. Canoeing was the highlight for all ages. The area was clean, and the host, Will, was very helpful — always ready to refill our water. The only downside was the wooden area, which we couldn’t use because of mice. Overall, a memorable and fun trip!

The good: Overall it is a nice, very private spot. Host is very responsive, and the property is beautiful. The note so good: There is currently no waterfall (July 30th, 2025), and I understand that hosts cannot dictate the weather (lack of rain), but it would be beneficial to let guests know prior to arrival. The lake is not a 10 minute walk from the site, especially if you have kids in tow. Perhaps from the fork in the road, but not from the site. The gazebo is screened in, but there are significant gaps that allow the bugs in. You will not regret bringing a thermacell or another screened in area. We did find a fantastic place not too far to spend the day - The Gut Conservation Area! Great hike and fantastic rapids and adventure area!

You had me at a screened-in porch!

Sarah's land was a wonderful place if you're used to the backcountry, but need to have car access for whatever reason. Our site was right on the lake with our own private dock. It was fairly secluded from everyone else, and the dogs were able to remain off-leash, which they absolutely loved. We stayed with a group of 6 adults and 3 dogs, and there was plenty of space for two extra tents. The cooking shelter was a HUGE PLUS that provided protection from the bugs, and the small lake was perfect for swimming and floating. Sarah's lovely co-host Will greeted us at the entrance and guided us to our spot, which was nice. We had 2 AWD cars at the site, and we left one RWD car back at the entrance. If you don't have AWD, I wouldn't sweat - it's a short and easy walk in. We would definitely come back!

We had a lovely stay at Sarah’s forest’s site. It has the privacy that most spots lack. Both Will and Sarah were very warm and helpful with everything. I suggest to anyone going to have a 4Wd vehicle to drive to the spot, otherwise pack light because there are some hills to conquer.

Waterfall - Rooftop Tent w/ Shelter

We recently camped at the Waterfall Rooftop Tent site at Camp Rose Island, and it was one of the most peaceful and unique getaways we've had. The location is amazing—tucked deep in nature with the sound of a waterfall nearby that instantly puts you in relaxation mode. The rooftop tent was clean, spacious, and really comfortable, and the added shelter made it easy to cook, chill, and stay dry no matter the weather. One of the highlights for us was the off-road access. If you're into 4WD adventures, the drive in is part of the fun—it really adds to that feeling of getting away from everything. Once you're there, it feels completely private and untouched. There’s also a beautiful private lake on the property, and the view is absolutely stunning. We spent time just sitting and taking it all in—so peaceful and scenic. Whether you’re hiking, exploring, or just relaxing by the water or fire, it’s a spot that really lets you slow down and enjoy. Everything was well-maintained and thoughtfully set up, and the host clearly cares about creating a great experience. We’d absolutely recommend this to friends who want something remote but still comfortable. We'll definitely be coming back. Thank you for sharing the place with us.

Excellent view and location by the lake. We had a wonderful time in the last good days of the fall. Sarah is quite helpful and considerate. I rly love the experience! Please bring your lighting items if you need more light. Please bring some water if you don’t like using the lake water.

Amazing!!!

The tent was very spacious and cozy, perfect for a couple or small family, the built in patio is a huge bonus as well. I enjoyed how private the location is, and the beautiful scenery, definitely worth the drive! I was also surprised at the amount of items provided, such as 4 little lawn chairs, a small gas stove, a space to store items/food, kayaks, life jackets, paddle board, very impressed. Not to mention how friendly our host, Sarah was!! Would definitely recommend this location to a friend, and if you can handle the cold it’s absolutely gorgeous in the fall 🍁

We loved our spontaneous getaway at this beautiful spot. It felt very private, the lake was warm and very clean and the little private dock was a lovely bonus. The camper tent was cozy and it was so nice to see the night sky and the gorgeous view of the lake. Can’t wait to come back!

One of a kind. Awesome night skies

Just a few things: The laneway to the rooftop tent is quite offroad, so high clearance vehicles only; Shower available, but do it before sunset, the water might still be warm; No bedding in the tent so at least bring a sleeping bag and a bug spray; Solar lights are provided.

Serene forest site, a real gem!

Loved Sarah's site, definitely recommend! The property was easy to find and Sarah greeted us very warmly at the entrance before leading us further in on her ATV. We drove to the site thanks to dry weather and our SUV (old 2WD Hyundai Santa Fe) though I recommend a 4WD vehicle for a bit more confidence on the drive. When we parked Sarah said the site was 100m down a trail. We saw our outhouse, but no shelter at first. Then we realized how well named the Forest Site is! Maybe 40 paces from where we parked we entered the camp proper and were shocked we hadn't seen the shelter from there. The whole site but also the shelter itself are nestled beautifully among a lot of tall, mature trees just up the hill from the lake giving a lot of seclusion and privacy. The shelter was well built and in great repair. A little short for me to fully stand at 6'4", but plenty spacious for a camp shelter, and well laid out. Coming from the trail there's a central fire pit with the shelter off to your left, solar shower up the hill to the right, and a clear site for a tent/gear/etc down the hill to the right. All close enough for ease of utility but far enough for some privacy. The provided gas camp stove (w/ 2 tanks) was pristine and worked great. A second bundle of firewood from Sarah's brother (also great!) showed up quickly after a request. The communal lake access had 2 canoes, paddleboard, floating dock, and plenty of life jackets of varying sizes all in good repair and neatly organized.

Sleep under the stars!

Sarah's Forest site was the perfect choice for our weekend away. It was quiet, private, and nicely shaded while still offering some sunlight and a view of the night sky. The RTT structure was really interesting, offering a queen+ mattress that felt more luxurious than a usual night in a tent (and skipped the usual camp setup labour!). The best part was the open mesh panels that allow you to look up at the night sky while settling in for the night. The site comes equipped with a lovely little 2-burner camp stove and fuel, a fire pit, and a cozy outhouse located about halfway between the parking spot and the main site. Highly recommend spending a couple nights here if you're looking for the convenience of car camping with the privacy and quiet of backcountry 🏕️

Camping at Sarah's was the perfect long weekend gateway! The view from the tent was beautiful, and the lake was so calm. Loved paddle boarding around it. The site is very private and there's not too much noise, overall a great experience. Would love to come back!

Clever setup in secluded meadow

Very clever setup using a car roof top tent perched on a custom shelter, in a beautiful, quiet secluded private forest meadow. The first night, after we were in bed, we were hit with a torrential thunderstorm and stayed completely dry! We did not get a chance to hang around the lake and try the canoes, but it looked lovely! Hopefully next time. Highly recommend. Also made use of nearby Silent Lake Provincial Park with our day pass including a challenging 15km hike, fishing and a lovely swim.

The perfect getaway

This site and accommodations were honestly 10/10 and exactly what my partner and I needed to get away from the buzzing city life. It was the perfect balance between glamping and more backwoods camping which was just amazing! The host was very friendly and offered plenty of help to us getting settled in and situated. Got us set up with firewood a camp stove and let us be to ourselves. Can't recommend Sarah enough! The waterfall campsite is very private and quiet! We even had a Muskrat pass by us totally unbothered, as well as we saw red squirrels and a whole bunch of cool frogs! So cool! Would definitely recommend this host, Sarah, and all their sites for anyone looking for the same experience! 10/10, plan on being back in the future!

Our family (2 adults, 1 toddler) had a fantastic time at the campsite. We love backcountry camping, but with a toddler that’s difficult! This campsite was a fantastic “in between” of backcountry and car camping. It was all the convenience of car camping, but with plenty of solitude and quiet! We were blown away with how clean and well maintained the site was, even the toilet smelt like fresh cedar wood 😂 and the lakefront area was lovely, with life jackets and canoes ready to go. We can’t wait to come back next year! :)

We were there in early August. We are rookie campers(a family of 4) and stayed here 2 nights. We were worried since you won't get any electricity or cell phone signal.(barely at some spots maybe) but it wasn't that difficult and it was good to be away from the world for a couple of days. Sarah was very helpful from the time of booking as well as during our stay. Ask her whatever you wonder about the sites. The outhouse was surprisingly clean and not smelly, the 'tent' and the kitchen setup was a huge plus. It's nice and cozy. It might be a bit dangerous with small kids to climb up the steep ladder to the sleep area, so just be mindful if you are with little ones. I recommend the meadow for a family and waterfall for a couple. Waterfall is smaller and more secluded, and the meadow is a bit larger, flatter site with an extra indoor space that you can throw an air mattress and sleep another 2 or 3 ppl. And if you like easy access to the lake, choose other sites which are closer to it. To me, just walking there made me wanna quit(15mins) so we ended up driving there. There's a private lake and you can use the canoe & paddle boat& life vests for free of charge. We had a blast!!! It was so much fun. Bring lots of mosquito repellent, but you will still be eaten alive. but it didn't bother us too much since that's what you expect when you camp in summer. Overall, it was a great experience and we will book again, the site closer to the lake this time! 😉

A Great Camping Experience

Sarah made our visit very welcoming! The site was clean and the tent was very cool. To get into bed you have to climb up a ladder and it zips shut behind you. No bugs in the tent was a bonus and a sky view while you lay to go to sleep. Very private . The lake is shared with other guests and provided a canoe or paddle board . Picked tons of black berries. There are four camps to choose from . I think we will have to try the other three before summer ends. Thank You Sarah. We will be back soon

Firstly theres no mention about the extra costs to have other people. They charge per person but the host was nice enough to address the issue. It says the water front is a ten minute walk, it was more like a 30 minute walk. The lake water was filled with huge leeches the size of my hand. Even when we went to the dock that's in the deeper end of the lake, there was still leeches and we were unable to swim in it. Outhouse wasn't too bad but when you went pee it would leak through onto the floor. The shack attached was built a little odd. No stairs to get in the tent and shack. I felt it was overpriced and misleading in the listing.

When we arrived we were greated by our host at the road who took the time to show us to our site and tell us about it. It was really convient to have the grill at the site and the screened porch to sit in when the bugs started to get bad for a bit around sunset. This site was vary quite and secluded, which made for a couple peaceful nights.

A wonderful, picturesque place on the lake! A great place to escape from the bustle of the city, go fishing, and simply contemplate the beauty of the local nature. In the summer kitchen-gazebo you can prepare meals, there is an outdoor shower, a fire pit, and several canoes to enjoy the beauty of the lake. Very welcoming, hospitable and responsive hosts. Premium car camping experience!

I'm not a good enough writer to write the review this place deserves. We recently stayed for two nights at the Waterfall site. As someone who has primarily camped in public parks, it was such an elite experience to not hear another person or car the entire time we were there. We could be noisy and enjoy the peace. The site was perched on a slope that gave the most stunning view - it felt like backcountry camping while living in a treehouse with a cozy loft and even a 'kitchen'. A lovely and shady 10 minute walk totally worth it for the warm, calm, and very private lake that was a delight to swim in. I'm gushing, I really loved it at Camp Rose Island! We stayed here to visit a nearby rock farm and saw many cute nearby road stops for food or fun. You may not love camping here if you are easily bothered by bugs or ladder entry up to the tent.
