Lee is a Star Host
Star Hosts are highly rated, responsive, and committed to providing incredible experiences.
This was one of the original homesteads in the Margarees. There was an old sawmill on site which was used to build the house and barn. It was sold to a man who started renovations for a summer house but ended up listing it for sale. I purchased it and completely renovated the 100-year-old house. Shortly after, my brother and I started an outfitting company with no plan of building a campground, but in 2017 we saw a great opportunity for building something unique. We wanted to keep a backwoods camping feel, but yet create it around a hostel-inspired environment. We launched June 1, 2018 and are in full swing now. We look forward to meeting you and will help you out in any way to make your trip here something to remember. Adventure awaits at this eco-camping hostel offering a natural setting, overlooking a picturesque valley. This location offers close to off-grid camping with a twist of comfort; furnished Glamping tents, sleeping up to 4 people per tent on a queen bed with twin camping beds for extra guests. Cooking gear, bedding, and towels are provided. Each tent, located at this eco-hostel, has its own campfire pit, with a solar outdoor shower on site and beautiful views of the river valley.

PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION AND PROVISIONS BEFORE YOU FORMULATE YOUR QUESTIONS OR BOOK A RESERVATION. IF YOU NEED A FULL-FUNCTIONING KITCHEN AND/OR BATHROOM, THIS MAY NOT BE THE RIGHT FIT. THIS EXPERIENCE IS DESIGNED FOR THOSE WITH THE DESIRE TO UNPLUG AND GET BACK TO BASICS. THE PHOTO GALLERY IS AN EFFORT TO OFFER OUR GUESTS A REPRESENTATION OF WHAT IS ACCESSIBLE DURING YOUR VISIT. This location offers close to off-grid camping – we have 10 campsites which are all first come first served. Some campsites have a 4x8 deck (which are our original campsites) but some are grassed sites in an open field. This space is shared with other campsites and safari tents. The sites are all equipped with a fire pit and picnic table. We have a shared building to hang out in the shade with space for cooking and sitting around. We provide: Campsite Picnic Table Parking space Communal cookhouse Hot showers (propane on-demand) Sink for washing dishes Pit Toilets Complimentary morning coffee (available in the shop) WATER: Fresh drinking water is available on site and is located in the washroom area in blue 5-gallon jugs. FIREWOOD: We sell bundles of firewood for $5 and packages of fire starters for $6. ELECTRICITY: There is no electricity in the campground. The only power and WIFI is located at the shop. THE COOKHOUSE: A communal outdoor space that provides shelter from the elements. No more, no less. WASHROOMS/SHOWERS: Located in the back left-hand corner of the campground are two composting toilets and two heated outdoor showers. If you are squeamish about your bathroom activity, we strongly urge you to research the HUMANURE SYSTEM. We do not attempt to represent this as a glamorous experience. It is not a flushing toilet, nor does it offer a blue pool of chemicals. There is a bucket of sawdust that is used for composting waste. There is also a sink for doing dishes. ADD-ONS: Margaree River tubing trips are available to all guests at a discounted rate. We can also arrange SUP or Kayak tours, or rentals, along the Margaree River, or privately guided hikes on the island. Please contact us for more details on any of these add-ons. RETURNING GUESTS: We appreciate folks who return year after year. Remind us of your last stay and we’ll offer a returning rate discount.
