We had reserved “Site 1” and James’s land, but our van was a little too big to fit. James was kind enough to let us stay at Site 2 on the left side of a large field of grass overlooking a perfect bend in the river below. The bathroom was clean, the shower was hot, and the view was incredible - even though it rained most of the time we were there.

Site 1 was great, removed from the other 2 sites so we didn't have to worry about our dogs being distracted at all. Site is up the hill from the water, I understand there is river access however we didn't go in because it was too cold! Water, shower and bathroom were a short walk down the road. There were a couple camp grates left behind from prior campers, but would bring your own if you plan to cook over the fire. Clean, easy to use. A short drive away to hike Cat Mountain, with great views. Would recommend!

I stayed two nights over Memorial Day weekend 2025 and it was a peaceful and calm stay. Right along a river and a short drive to Lake George without having an overwhelming amount of other campers I’d highly recommend.

Everything was as expected at James’s place, and he was a very kind gracious host! He met with us upon arrival, showed us the lay of the land, let us know who else was at the other sites (only one other site was visible from our site 2 but there was a ton of space between). The port-a-John was probably the cleanest one I’ve ever been in. I didn’t use the shower since I only stayed one night but it was a well set up outdoor shower with hot water which some of the other campers used. There was also a sink basin for washing dishes, a picnic table and a campfire setup. I opted to pay for a bundle of wood through the app so when I arrived my bundle was there and it was white a large bundle at that! Other reviews did mention you can hear some cars from the freeway that’s close by and we did hear them but it didn’t bother us at all as it was still from a distance. It rained pretty heavily on our second night there and James kindly checked in to make sure I was okay. I ended up packing up and heading out early as we were leaving at the crack of dawn the following morning anyway. Overall it was the perfect getaway from the city that I neeeded. Would love to come back for another visit!

James was a fantastic host and came over to great us on night one. He was very responsive when we asked to purchase more wood for our fires. The wood was very seasoned and was a good amount compared to other bundles we saw in the area.
The campsite is pretty cool. It is basically on the side of a large drop off that leads down to the river and tucked back off the side road. You can hear noise from i87 and that did keep us up on Friday night. Recommend a pair of in ear plugs to help.
I’d recommend setting up a tent on the left or right of the fire pit on slightly higher ground. It rained about an inch and there were puddles from the sand where the picnic table is located.
The shower was a bonus and we used it one night. The sink was also very convenient and used that clean pots/pans.

Site and location were nice and private, very clean and well kept. James greeted us and made sure we got setup and had all the information for his grounds. And, he gave us a great recommendation for dinner close by at Fredericks in Bolton.

My partner and I really enjoyed stargazing on site. We went tent camping and the day time view of the river is gorgeous. James has the cleanest bathroom facilities I have ever seen while camping, so that is a huge plus. All in all, this is a great spot!

James was a great host. I felt like family not only in the hospitality but it showed in the extra efforts he made to his place. His land is a flat open space with a view of the creek below. Firepit, chairs, bathroom (cleanest Porta potty I've ever been in, even smelled good), handsink, and an outdoor shower- all included. I paid extra to have firewood there once we arrived which was awesome. We loved our time and can't wait to go back someday! Excellent place, 10/10 recommend! Just what we wanted, a peaceful night away.- Thanks again James!

We always have such a great time exploring the Adirondacks and Lake George when staying at James’ property. This is hands down our favorite HipCamp spot and James is such a wonderful host. His attention to details at the campsites makes for a wonderful experience and his property is beautiful. Do not hesitate to book this HipCamp :)

- Close to Lake George and lots of great hikes
- Firewood was dry and plenty
- Hot shower was such a luxury after a day of hiking!
- James was nice and accommodating
Not great:
- No river access
- This site was fully exposed to the road and other campsites
- Road noise from the highway was pretty loud
- Mosquitoes were out! Bring a thermocell
All in all I had a nice time but would probably choose one of the more secluded sites if I visited again. Thanks James for your hospitality!

James’ property is perfect for the quick getaway. Location was perfect just a 15 minute drive from town and Lake George. Everything was incredibly clean, James is an awesome guy and host, and the sites are private. He was gracious enough to allow us to move to site 2 which was right on the bank of the river which was amazing. To boot there was a dancing bears flag being flown AND a heated outdoor shower and restroom. A+. We’re already planning our Fall foliage retreat and plan on staying at James’ place again. Thanks for having us.

Beautiful site on the river with a lot of space. Nice outdoor shower too! There is a steep incline to the river so it’s not necessarily accessible from site 3 but we also didn’t ask James if there was a way to get there. The property is very convenient to Warrensburg, Lake George and Bolton’s Landing. The property is beautifully maintained and very level. We didn’t even need to use levelers. Gorgeous big pines surrounding the site but plenty of sun for solar panels.

We spent a wonderful, albeit brief, one night stay here. The host was very welcoming and informative, the site was beautifully maintained and the facilities perfect. We’d love to have stayed longer. Thanks for a great stay!

Host was great and greeted us upon arrival. He was available for any needs or questions. Highly recommend purchasing the wood on site. For $10 you get ample wood. Nice private secluded campsite overlooking the river (within 15 minute drive to Bolton and Lake George). There is no hookup for electric. Portajohn, outdoor shower and sinks were well maintained and clean. However those are closer to the other campsites. Occasional road noise but nothing disturbing. Recommend bringing bug spray and citronella candles if going during the summer. There are tiki torches on site if you want to bring kerosene fluid to fill. There is no garbage disposal on site so be make sure to take all trash with you upon leaving. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend to friends and family!

James is a very nice guy and host! The site had a lot of space and a nice view. It is perfect if you are looking for a spot to camp but still want to be close to a road and civilization. Outdoor shower, porta potty and firewood were nice amenities!

This site was outstanding. Came here with a small group and had ample room. The property is well maintained and clean, with an awesome view of the river. It’s set back from the road so it feels secluded. We set hammocks up along the river and enjoyed amazing views. A perfect place for a weekend getaway or a lake George base camp.
The shower and portable bathroom were clean and easy to get to. No need to bring in firewood as there was more than enough and for a very reasonable price.
James was a great host. He was responsive and clearly takes great care of his property. He provided us with great recommendations for places to see in the area and was available for questions.
Would stay here again without hesitation and highly recommend for anyone looking into a calm and scenic place to get away.

We had a wonderful stay. Site 1 is secluded and private with a perfect view of the river. Completely shaded. We wanted something close to Lake George and surrounding towns but didn’t want to be on a busy campground and this was perfect. Everything is pretty much 10 minutes away. There is a path to the river, it is steep but we did it with our dog just fine. There’s also a canoe/kayak launch right downtown the road. Great spot to swim or float on a tube too. James was welcoming and gave us lots of good recommendations, including dog friendly spots. Greta amount of fire wood and convenient water/shower/toilet.
