Great escape !
We loved every bit of this experience. It was our first stay in a tiny house. It has everything you needed. Starry nights and quite Maine mornings.
We opted for the canoe and fire rental! It is a must to get out on that beautiful river and was so easy to communicate with John .

We loved this spot! John and his wife are incredibly helpful and kind. The property is beautiful. We stayed at campsite 2 for one night. You could see the other campers but the site felt private and secluded. Highly recommend it!

Thank you for such a wonderful relaxing camp experience!!! My parents stayed in the tiny house and my husband and two children rented a tent site by the river. Gorgeous views and the kids had a blast running through the fields, hiking to the pond, and canoeing to the island. Love all the milkweed! We spotted a monarch and bald eagle.

Your new favorite camp site!!
My best friend and I camped here for three nights and we loved every second! The scenery is stunning. The stars- incredible!! We enjoyed exploring the many miles of hiking trails on the property and couldn’t get over kayaking at sunset! I brought my own kayaks and we were able to put in right from our site. We had neighbors on each side for two nights but could hardly tell they were there. John and Pat met us when we arrived and they were so kind and and accommodating; John also took some time to share the history of the property which made us appreciate it all the more. We also took a small afternoon trip to Portland one day since it’s only about an hour away. The only minor thing to be aware of would be the fact that there are houses in the surrounding area, which means we heard noise from a gathering across the lake one afternoon and evening. It didn’t go late, but just know this is not quite “in the middle of nowhere” with only sounds of nature. Overall, a 10/10 and a truly lovely experience that we would do again in a heart beat!

Slippery Rock Tiny Cabin
Gorgeous View and SUP Adventure
We absolutely loved our stay! It was so lovely cooking over the fire, falling asleep with the sunset, and waking up to the gorgeous view and sunshine peeking over the horizon.
The cabin was beautiful and well stocked with many lanterns, a refillable 5 gallon water tank, two burner camping stove w/ extra propane, large garbage can, paper towels, a small cooler, and many utensils, mugs, plates, pots and pans, etc.
We brought our inflatable paddle boards and had a great time in the water, paddling over to the little nearby islands, stopping to fish, picnic and swim. We were the only people on the water, except for the occasional sea plane!
Our family of 4 was very comfortable. The upstairs loft has a full sized bed/floor mattress, but note that the ladder to climb up is really steep and tight. Older kids and (smallish adults) will have no problem, but it’s tricky getting young ones up there.
Highly recommend!!

This HipCamp experience was amazing! I can't say enough good things. The campsite was absolutely perfect, especially with how hot the weather has been. Our dog had easy access to the river so he could jump in and cool down, which was essential with these 90 degree days. We had him try out a canoe for the first time, and he absolutely loved seeing all of the wildlife (watch out for porcupines)! We will definitely be back. This is an incredibly beautiful spot, and we all - both human and canine - loved it.

Blissful scenic relaxation
We had an absolutely wonderful experience camping on this beautiful property. John and his wife are completely delightful- we were so happy to meet them. They were quick to welcome us & offer some great information about the area, were available had we needed anything, and left us to a private, relaxed campsite. We spent our time lounging in the hammocks, cooling off in the river, and sitting by the campfire.

Incredible Property, Amazing Host!
We had such an amazing time on John’s property! When we arrived, he met us at the gate, guided us to the cabin, and then had a lovely chat with us about the story of his land! He also pointed out some amazing trails he built himself around a pond - home to herons, otters, beavers, and some groundhogs running around in the grass. The cabin itself was just perfect, everything you need, but nothing that you don’t. We played games, enjoyed the nature, went canoeing, hiking, made a campfire, and all around had an incredible time! Will definitely come back.

Beautiful property, wonderful hosts
Once again, we had a wonderful stay at Slippery Rock. Great fishing this trip. It was hot but there was a fantastic breeze off the river. The water level of the river was down since our last visit therefore there was a nice shoreline to check out with the dogs as well. Can't say enough about the friendliness of our host and hostess. Lovely people who are out to be sure you have everything you need and enjoy your stay.

This was our second Summer back at John and Pat's property and it was perfect! We stayed in Site 2 which has the perfect mix of sun and shade. We paddled the canoe out to the islands, went swimming, did lots of fishing and also explored the property's trails. John and Pat were amazing hosts, coming to welcome us and drop off firewood, even taking us and the kids for a tour of the property - the conservation work being done is amazing.

There is so much to do and enjoy here- highly recommend.
