Swallow Nest
Amazing Hosts
Swallows Nest was a great spot to stop and camp for the night. We were in the area and loved how close to town the site was, but still rural and beautiful. It is close to farms, so you awake to birds singing and the far-off sound of goats and cows waking for the morning. There is no tree cover, but the blackberry bushes offer a little coverage from the other nearby sites. Also, bring your own grill as this site does not have a fire pit. Given how sound travels, this is not a space for late-night camping rowdiness, but great for a quiet night to enjoy the beautiful seaside farmland. The biodiversity and natural CA beauty of the space is wonderful and reflects well on the care the hosts have for their land. I awoke to a heron flying overhead! Be aware of bees (they are doing their important job with the lovely flowers around the site!) (And wasps- bring bags to contain any trash that may attract them!)
The compost toilet was really well maintained, and the host was AMAZING.
Our car battery died and when we called them in a panic, they showed up with a jumper box right away and actually helped us jump our car- an amazing act of kindness and generosity.

The Great Blue Heron
Really cute place and great location close to Tomales downtown and Dillon beach. Unfortunately the camper did not appear to be cleaned in quite some time as there were Cobb webs everywhere. In addition, we found 2 black widows the first night and 3 the second, which left us to leave early in the middle of the night as we did not want to sleep with black widows! Really a bummer bc the place has so much potential and is private but that just put a damper on things and we didn’t feel comfortable.

Sweet, safe place
It’s such a sweet space. From the lull of the cows to the elegant egrets grazing the morning stream. Our new go-to.

Lovely site—sometimes it took a little while for hosts to respond but they always did—very generous amount of firewood and lived getting the zucchini!

Peaceful camping with the cows
I’m biased because I grew up a few miles away so it was “coming home,” but this is a fabulous spot. We stayed at Swallow’s nest, which is a great spacious site on the estero. It was surrounded by blackberry bushes, which the kids loved picking for snacks. The only drawback was no fire pit. Outhouse was very clean. Only one other site was occupied at the next site over which was so far away we couldn’t see or hear each other. It was so peaceful at night with a great view of the stars.

What a beautiful setting - amazingly quiet - with a variety of birds flying around in the sky, and cattle off in the distance. We went at exactly the right time of the year, too, to feast on all the blackberries growing all around us.

cow show
This is one of those spots that is both perfect and has cows slowly grazing across the creek from you, stay all day in your camp chair and watch them go one way in the morning and the other way back , everyone is just taking their time , you can too

We loved our glamping experience at Blue Heron. It’s a lovely spot in a serene location that is just 5 minutes drive to a great local bakery and 15 min to the beach.

The Great Blue Heron
The Great Blue Heron is a cute and functional camper tucked away next to the road across from the farm's main buildings. It was the best central hangout spot for our group, most of which was tent camping at the Owl Nest site on the same property — but note that it's down the road, and requires leaving through one gate and entering through another to get to the tent sites on the farm. Guido and Emily were really responsive and helpful at explaining that beforehand.
The bed was so comfortable, and very difficult to get out of! The kitchen was really effective for being so small and compact; we pulled off some fairly elaborate meals like pancakes, and a full clambake with fresh clams and mussels we picked up in Bodega. It has an electric hot plate, toaster oven, and mini fridge, and there's a propane grill outside. We did bring some of our own pots and pans to supplement, and if you're planning to do some serious cooking, I'd recommend bringing your own propane stove (the electric hot plate took awhile to get going).
Another thing to note is that you should be comfortable with who you're staying with at the camper! The composting toilet is very well partitioned off on one end, but it's technically still in the single open room. It was super clean, and not smelly at all, but just be aware.
Can't wait to visit this beautiful spot again!

Owl Nest
Great spot: easy to find, close to the beach and nearby towns for any forgotten necessities, and was a huge site perfect for our group camp. We had some incredible stargazing here — saw lots of shooting stars and got to watch the full moon rise over the expansive vistas. We spent the days climbing at Jenner and Salt Point (20-45 min away), hanging out at the beach, and visiting the local breweries and eating a lot of local cheese. It was a relaxing weekend spent in the Bodega and Sonoma coast areas!

Egret Nest
Farm stand was really cute and it was nice to grab a few local products. We stayed at Egrets and the site was clean and spacious with a good fire pit. Not sure if it’s just this time of year, but the creek was covered in algae and more like standing water which led to lots of mosquito’s. Sites are spaced out well and we enjoyed hearing the farm animals all night.

Hangin with cows
Great space to relax with privacy and silence. Got to watch cows across the water. Black berries are encroaching into the camp site a little but I would definitely recommend this site.

A place to park
This was a place to park and sleep. The stream advertised was stagnant sludge and a little depressing considering that being near water was the selling point of this listing for me. On the plus side, my wife and I spent lots of great time at the ocean together, which was the point.

Camping with some upgrades
I loved the little hideaway with the RV, picnic area, shower. It was quite rustic but had the convenience of a shower, toaster oven, utensils etc which I appreciated.
As a first time glamper, I did feel strange camping in the little grassy area by the side of the street across from the main farm but we were ok even though we stayed out late at night.
