Welcome to Otter’s Romp! Otter’s Romp; an oceanside retreat on Salt Spring Island surrounded by lush west coast forest. Located on the South End of Salt Spring Island - just a 15 minute drive from the Fulford Harbour ferry terminal - your private site offers breathtaking views overlooking Haro Straight and Satellite Channel, while simultaneously being nestled up to a protected grove of Cedar, Arbutus, and Douglas Fir. Whether you want to take in everything Salt Spring Island has to offer from scenic walking and hiking trails (minutes from your front door), beaches, our famous farmer’s market, visiting the various winery, brewery, cidery, and distillery tasting rooms, cafes, bakeries, restaurants, lavender farm, cheese maker, sausage maker, art galleries, and farm stands OR if you prefer to relax on site and take in the water views and possible wildlife sightings (otters, deer, eagles, ravens, kingfishers, whales, porpoises, and seals among others!), then Otter’s Romp has you covered! Make your get-away experience comfortable and stress-free by booking an escape to Otter’s Romp!Otter’s Romp is located on 5 acres of south facing rugged waterfront with stunning views of the Southern Gulf Islands stretching down to the San Juan Islands in the US and Mount Baker juts dramatically above the horizon to the east. Your spacious and comfortable 16’ bell-tent leads to a private deck with an ever-changing view as ferries, sailboats, tugs and freighters glide by. Wildlife abound including deer, ravens, eagles and otters (of course). Porpoise and seals can frequently be seen swimming in the waters below as well, orca and sealions can often be spotted depending on the season. Near by walking trails give access through diverse and lush west coast forests featuring giant Douglas Firs and Cedars with interspersed groves of twisting Arbutus trees. Dark night skies give way to an infinite array of stars and planets. Full-moon rises are a particular delight as the light dances on the waters below. Camp amenities include a spacious 16’ canvas bell tent with skylight, a raised queen sized bed with cotton/linen bedding; composting toilet and hot water outdoor shower; covered food prep area with coolers and camp stove, pots and pans, cutlery, utensils, running water, fire pit, full dining table, lounge chairs and access to WiFi. There is a stove top coffee maker and a french press for use. Guests will need to bring their own coffee pre-ground to their specifications. Some teas are available for guests. We supply basic spices (salt/pepper), cooking oils and sugar; everything else will need to be brought by the guests. There is a large cooler available to keep your items cold. Guests will need to supply ice for the cooler. A wood fire pit is available when burning is permitted. Wood can be provided for a fee. There is also a gas fire pit available for rent. The main residence is app. 200ft away from your site and can be seen through trees. The rest of the driveway leads to a workshop and upholstery business. Your parking is shared by the business owner when at the workshop. Please do not disturb the tenants at the house.
