Lanthorn is situated just north of Wakefield Quebec surrounded by forest, creeks, waterfalls, and hikes with views of the surrounding area. Our farm grows willow for basketry and living structures. We can also arrange to teach a weaving class for a fee. To learn more about our farm, you can visit Lanthorn.ca. We are home to a deer refuge founded in partnership with the Humane Society Canada which cares for a herd of sika deer rescued from a zoo closure. We also raise a small number of chicken, and sheep.

I built this cabin to be a romantic, cozy off-grid getaway for humans , but if most of our guests are being honest, the dogs are the ones having the best time. There’s a cozy queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet. A covered deck with handcrafted rocking chairs for sunset views. A private fire area below for campfires and stargazing. LED lighting, a Bluetooth speaker, a Jackery battery bank, clean well water, lanterns, an outdoor shower, and a clean outhouse. I’ll even haul your gear in by ATV so you can settle in without the hassle. And after all that work, most guests still seem to agree on the real highlight: Watching their dogs absolutely lose their minds with happiness. More than anything, this place has become a favourite for people who want to give their dogs the kind of freedom they rarely get anywhere else. Most of our guests tell us over and over, that their favourite part is watching their best friends make their own decisions, run the trails, sniff everything, chase chipmunks, explore the forest, and basically have the time of their lives. Of course, the humans tend to enjoy themselves too. The cabin sits on a west-facing cliff on our private 164-acre property. Once you arrive, you’ll have the feeling of having the whole place to yourselves. The trails, the forest, the quiet, the sunsets, it all feels wonderfully removed from the usual noise. This time of year, the forest is waking up, and the property starts to shift into spring. It’s a beautiful season here, muddy in spots, full of fresh smells, birdsong, and that feeling that everything is coming back to life. For dogs, it’s heaven. For people, it’s a chance to unplug, slow down, and enjoy a kind of peace that’s getting harder to find. You’ll have access to 10 km of private trails through forest, ridgelines, and lakeshore. Wildlife is plentiful, and depending on the season, you may spot deer, foxes, loons, and maybe even a family of bald eagles! There’s no electricity or running water, but that’s part of the magic. This is real off-grid comfort: simple, peaceful, and thoughtfully set up so you can enjoy nature without giving up a good night’s sleep. The nature trail is great for snow shoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter, summer day hiking and exploring Lac Long in the warmer months. Follow the trail to the water and you’ll find kayaks, a canoe and a cedar dock to launch yourself onto Lac Long and explore the beautiful waters. Fishing in the lake is fantastic as well you can do that from the raft or by canoe. This is an off-grid cabin located in Blue Sea, QC. On 30 acres of wilderness. The cabin is 3 season and insulated with a woodburning stove to keep yourselves warm and toasty. Solar power energy, outhouse, out door shower (rain dependent), propane bbq and of course an outdoor fire pit. Everything you need to quickly settle into relaxation and peace. OFF-GRID FEATURES: The a-frame uses solar panels for lighting. There is an outdoor shower that is rain fed. Relying on rain and sun means that if there hasn't been any - these amenities won't be available. We recommend you bring along your own flash lights incase our solar panel is low on power. Bring along your portable chargers as there is some cell service up in this neck of the woods. Though the strength seems to vary depending on your device and your carrier. NO WIFI. A-FRAME AMENITIES: The last resort has one queen bed with bedding included. Solar lights inside the redneck bathroom and cabin. Deck with Adirondack chairs for lounging. Solar lighting surrounding the area. Propane BBQ. Outdoor fireplace with chairs. Bedding. Towels. Basic amenities included. Bring your bug spray, water, and food for a for a perfect quiet getaway. The a-frame has some games, cards, and books for you to enjoy as well. Please note we do not provide firewood, we can deliver some for a small fee, or you are more than welcome to bring your own. Off-grid means an outhouse -- woohoo. There is a rain collection barrel water system for an outdoor shower and to wash your hands and things. Again -- if there hasn't been any rain -- there will not be any water. Keep this in mind please. The water is not potable. We highly encourage you to bring enough water to boil, drink, and wash your hands / self with. We do have an outdoor water source close by if you need to refill your jugs. We have parking available for a car or two. Its in a cleared spot on our 30 acres close to the a-frame. Park your vehicle - grab your belongings - a short jaunt through the trees / woods will lead you to the secluded a-frame. This is a 'walk in' listing. You must carry your things from the parking area about a minute leading to the a-frame. There are no facilities to store food in the a-frame so please bring along your cooler and ice. Bring your hiking shoes and take a stroll through the beautiful private land. There is some wildlife so keep your food in the a-frame or in closed containers. Close to the cabin is waterfront and our private nature trail -- with a dock and kayaks-- its at the end of the lake but none the less -- its beautiful, peaceful and calm. Fishing is fantastic on a few of the lakes close by. There is a public beach about 12 minutes away from the chalet. We have everything you need to recharge your batteries and truly enjoy nature. The cabins electrical is run off solar power. Extended periods of overcast weather may temporarily impact the availability of power. We do not supply firewood -- we have a bit stocked up from clearing the land you are free to use until its gone -- feel free to scavenge some of the dead wood in the forest and around the cabin -- an axe and a little manual labour voila free firewood. You are also welcome to bring your own chopped wood. Lac Long is the lake closest to the a-frame. We have a trail for direct water access. We also offer two kayaks and a dock for guests to use during their stay. Just follow the trail closest to the cottage and it will lead you to the water. About a 10m walk. Lac Blue Sea is 13 minutes from the a-frame - There is a sandy beach on Lac Blue Sea for swimming. Wonderful lake for fishing. Blue Sea is a hidden gem for nature lovers, offering a variety of outdoor activities and natural wonders to explore. From hiking trails to lakes and parks, Blue Sea has something for everyone. Whether you're looking for a relaxing vacation or an adventure in the great outdoors, Blue Sea is the perfect destination. I stayed 1 night at Agape Gardens on a solo getaway & loved every minute of it. Jennie's so kind & welcoming, and the whole place has such a peaceful and calming energy. Surrounded by nature, quiet, fresh air… it was exactly what I needed to disconnect, relax, read, and recharge. Everything was also super clean and well taken care of. Camp dans Rouge is a lovely cabin equipped with everything you need. She is a very attentive host who wants to ensure that you have a comfortable stay. The red river is beautiful and so is the forest behind the cabin. Had a lovely time grilling and enjoyed the warmth of the campfire on a chilly night. Highly recommend this hipcamp.

This was my first camp with my girlfriend and we had a great experience! Rae (host) is very friendly, very attentive, and very kind and you can communicate your needs and she'll take care of them if possible. I definitely recommend their Mountain breakfast! Big portion and very delicious! We will be back again for sure.

We had a wonderful stay at Camp dans Rouge! Rae was a wonderful host, always going above and beyond to making sure we were well settled, comfortable and had a great time there! If you’re planning on going there over the winter, don’t hesitate! The furnace warms up the cabin very well (we were toasty, also there’s a CO2 detector so no risk there), the bed was comfy, and the place equipped with everything one might need while camping and more (kitchen utensils, but also kettle, mini fridge, etc.). We definitely had a great stay and would totally be down to come back another time!

We had a great stay at the Leo cabin at Agape Gardens! Our hosts were easy to communicate with and quick to answer any questions we had throughout our stay. The walking trail, beautiful cabin, and wood fired hot tub were highlights for us. It was an incredibly relaxing stay!

An absolutely perfect winter cabin retreat. Cozy, spotless, and thoughtfully equipped. It was a great place to unplug, relax, and enjoy the winter season. We loved being able to let our dog roam safely off-leash and enjoy the freedom. Mike gave us such a warm welcome that immediately made us feel at home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and falling asleep while gazing at the stars through the trees was a magical touch. The outdoor kitchen was one of our favourite features. We hope to return.

The off grid cabin was a really cozy and scenic experience! The cabin opens up to a lovely view of the surrounding hills and woods with a nice forest to walk on the property. Spending the evening in? They have a wonderful sauna, cold plunge and hot tub area with amazing views of the night sky, great for a weekend getaway.

Weekend Trip to Dog Friendly Cliffside Cabin

We loved everything about our stay in the Cliffside Cabin and will definitely return. The cabin is cozy and inviting and kept us snug and warm despite the frigid -30 degree temps outside. The bed is heavenly; so comfortable for sleeping, and also surrounded by windows for enjoying the stunning views and sunset. The cabin strikes the perfect balance of rustic and convenience, so you get the charm and atmosphere of being off grid, but the comfort and ease of having lights easily accessible and sleeping through the night without having to stoke a fire to stay warm. The property is incredible. It’s totally private and has tons of beautiful wooded trails to explore. We snowshoed for hours and enjoyed the variety of trail types, from machine set to human set to making our very own in the deep snow! We were there during a nighttime snowshoe race so got to see all the headlamps moving very quickly through the forest from the comfort of the cabin after our own snowshoe adventure. Our dog, who is reactive and barky in the city, was able to be off leash and lived his best life from arrival to departure. He tired himself out exploring and put himself to bed early! Last but definitely not least, Mike was an exceptional host. He is responsive and thoughtful, offering to reschedule when I asked about the cold, and even offering to loan us his dog’s jacket when I said I might buy one. He is interesting and so easy to talk to, and we left his presence feeling uplifted. Highly recommend!

Spent a cozy couple of days in a snowstorm. The cabin was tidy and warm, well stocked with the essentials. The view was phenomenal. Would love to visit again in the summer or fall.
