When to go

Supporting a year-round population, Magog is greater to visit anytime, but the best time depends on what exactly you want to do. Cold-weather campers can pitch a tent in the dead of winter in some parks, but if you’re looking to enjoy the lake, then mid-July through late August is the best time. We adore the Eastern Townships in fall thanks to its glorious changing leaves.

Know before you go

  • You should have no problem with cell reception in the city, but once you get deep into the national parks or more remote areas, service is likely to be limited.
  • French is the first language here, and although most locals speak English fluently, it's helpful to have a translation app on your phone.
  • You’ll find it difficult to explore this region without a vehicle. Magog has just a limited transit service that offers drastically reduced services on weekends.
  • From June to October, the Magog farmers market runs very Sunday.
