'Whispering Pines' was bought about 35 years ago as our dream retirement home, a place to rest, have a quiet life, enjoy nature and have a peaceful retirement for ever and ever...In past years we have been a family camp. and an event camp with camping festivals, special events, and day visits. Now we welcome visitors who are looking for a casual, rustic, laid back experience with nature in a simple, peaceful setting. Nature is allowed to thrive on our property, and the entire property is forested and wild. The majority of our campsites are shaded under a verdant and lush canopy. Our private beach and small lake welcome you for a swim. All we ask of our visitors is: that whatever you bring in you take home with you, that you leave your campsite and the property the way you found it, and the only thing you take from here are pictures and happy memories. All of our campsites are off-grid, un-serviced, drive-in camping. Campfire wood and recycling facilities are available on site. Maintained outhouses are available throughout the property. There is no potable water on the property so please bring your own drinking and cooking water. Children under 12 can camp for free. When booking a campsite please only include any guests over 12 years of age in your guest count. Children under 12 do not need to be included in your booking. I love this property and all the people who visit us, many have become extended family and for this I am grateful. A hidden country gem on the river! 2 hrs from downtown Ottawa, you'll find our beloved little off grid style cabin sandwiched between a pine forest and a clean healthy river on 6 acres of beautiful diverse natural land. We have the best (one of the only) swimming spots along the river, like a natural pool, with old time swimming hole vibes, sandy beach and views of the forest hill in the distance and charming railway tie bridge. There are several kayaks available for guest use. The swimming and cabin area face south with all day full sun on clear days for the sunbathers. For the shade lovers, the property has a beautiful shady pine forest with an outdoor shaded screened in kitchen and tent platform for extra guests. You'll find a few hammocks in various areas of the property as well as a renovated skoolie with large deck for extra sleeping quarters and camp style fun. In total there are 3 fire pits on the property so you'll have your pick of your favourite spot and view at different times of the day when fire bans allow. There are deer, rabbits, foxes, porcupines, birds of all kinds and sizes, butterflies, squirrels, and you may even see a lonely beaver quietly swim by after dusk and hear the howling of wolves in the distant hills while you're roasting your marshmallows on the campfire. If you love camping, but need a break from packing all the gear, our cabin will be a welcome change of pace. You'll have a soft queen sized bed, games, puzzles, books, futon & sofabed, and simple kitchen set up, with propane powered camp stove all while still being immersed in nature with lots of privacy. We absolutely loved the suspended tent experience and secret paradise on Alex's land. It was heaven. Super private, so much space and little corners to enjoy peace, beauty and nature's rhythms. Alex is an amazing host, even the wildlife on his land are happy, playful and fun. We enjoyed watching the otter family swim all day, who made sure to get our attention multiple times. We felt safe, supported and left very inspired. We are grateful and very blessed for this experience. Thank you Alex :)

We had an amazing stay at this campsite over the weekend! The location is perfect, peaceful, scenic, and exactly what we were hoping for. Alex was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and made sure everything was set up for a comfortable stay. You can really tell they put care into the place. Amazing location! The sound of the rushing waterfall is mesmerizing and melts away stress. The location is so amazing it counteracts some of the downsides of the campground. As it is newly opened these may just be growing pains. Please note there is no room for large tents. We have a tiny 2 person Marmot and were still unable to find a flat setup location.

We went tent camping and picked out a site from a lovely selection, so much space and privacy which we really appreciated. Eileen was very welcoming and kind. This is a great spot to wind down in nature and spend quality time with loved ones. The beach is nice and spacious. I will say if you are looking for a large clear water lake to swim in this may not be the best candidate but Wispering Pines makes up for it in other ways. Happy camping:)

4 nights at Whispering Pines - Curran, Ontario

Eileen is such a very sweet lady all throughout our stay. We stayed for 3 nights with 2 kids and they both loved it. There are tons to do to keep your kids busy. There is the playground and the small pond/ lake. You get to choose your own campsite. Not all of them has picnic tables. It's private and there's lots of trees for some shade. The campground is very rustic and is a nice way to get in touch with nature. When I told Eileen that one of my kids got stung by a 🐝, she immediately gathered leaves for remedy and offered other solutions for relief. She's always around and available when you need help. She even lent us a booster cable for the car, lol. All in all, we love Eileen's land and we are planning to come back. My only comment are the outhouses that I think need some improvements. They are dispersed around the campground so whichever site you choose, outhouses are just around the corner.

Beautiful wooded space with an amazing friendly host ! We had a great weekend and wonderful time a very calm and quiet camp ground with great friendly neighbour's. The campsites are clean and very naturesque . Its a very woodsie and natural vibe . I would definitely recommend if you want to get away from city life and just take it easy around a fire . Quite a few spots that are great for star gazing and catching the moon , we had a great time and plan to go back ! Not necessarily the most entertaining for teens so maybe plan some activities to bring and help keep entertained , though there is a cute little man made beach and a small parc for younger kids .

We loved this property so much! It’s stunningly beautiful with amazing water access on the river and a lake. The amenities made camping easy: fire ring at the tent site, toilets, trash & recycling containers, plus the kayak & paddle boards available to rent. We saw deer, an ancient looking tortoise in the water, all kinds of birds, frogs, and fish which delighted the kids. Xavier was really kind and helpful. One of my all time favorite campsites!
