Pleasant Farm Vistas in Rupert

1 site · RV2 acres · Alcove, QC
Surrounded by tree-topped rolling hills and beautiful vistas with brilliant sunrises and sunsets. Watch for deer grazing silently and countless birds. Hear the distant cattle moo in the morning mist. 300 metres from the Rupert Community Centre (Rupert Fair September 8-9). 10km North of Wakefield. The Lapeche General Store is just a few kms down the road. Your site can be next to, or nestled between, a vintage 1968 Travelux (like an Airstream) and a 1965 Citation trailer - which provides a cozier feel (both trailers are works in progress, not in use during your stay). This listing is NOT for use of those trailers, but for your RV, camper, tent, etc. The satellite photos shows the site area itself with trees - not sure when that was but only trees or grasses on the site's sides. The site is close to the road, and while the speed limit is low, some road noise is to be expected. The site offers pull-through turnaround access. Wifi is available from the farm house next to the site (not always 100% strength, but pretty good, and using Bell Fibe). Fires can be made in the outdoor fireplace ('chiminea') which includes an attached grill. Quiet hours are 10pm to 8am

Camping near Gracefield with wifi provided guide

Overview

Tiny Gracefield serves as the largest population centre in a pretty remote part of Quebec, meaning it offers amenities such as cafes and a small downtown with stores selling food and produce. What makes Gracefield most special are the wild spaces that surround it, with ample opportunities to get out and enjoy the pristine waterways and deeply forested lands. The area serves up a mix of both private and public campgrounds and parks that offer front and backcountry camping.

When to go

Though experienced campers might want to venture out to the Gracefield area in winter, the best time for enjoying all on offer is between May to October. May and June can be wet and still chilly, and your warmest weather will be in mid-July through to the end of August—though be wary of mosquitoes and blackflies. Pack extra-strength bug spray and you’ll be fine.

Know before you go

  • This isn’t a region you can explore without a vehicle.
  • You can’t always rely on cellphone reception in this remote area, so be sure to pack maps and make sure to share your location with a loved one if trekking off into the distance.
  • You can rent canoes and kayaks, as well as get advice on where to go and what to see, at local Gracefield outfitter Carpe Diem Adventures,
  • There's an EV charging station in Gracefield.
  • In more remote spots in Quebec, English fluency is less common. It's a good idea to have a translation app ready on your phone.
