Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Our ecological farm is your chance to enjoy nature. Planted with 100+ edible perennial species in the orchard garden, beeyard, hayfield, and forest with shiitake mushroom logs. Tiny House is close by the house and has power. The Hive site is closer to the house for easier vehicle access and proximity to the compost toilet and house wifi. This year the hayfields are in renewal so access and availability to sites are more limited. Creek culvert crossing is being repaired this spring so bookings to the Tree Island and Lookout sites are restricted until June at the latest. Tree Island is across the creek and best crossed with higher clearance vehicles or a 3 minute walk in. Let us know in advance if you would like firewood, outdoor solar shower access, water, or outlets to charge your devices. There is a hiking trail that extends along the entire property and a mini pond near the Lookout site. Seasonal fresh produce and berries for sale. Located steps to Tom Thomson Trail, 2km to Irish Mountain Lookout, and within minutes of Meaford, multiple Bruce Trail trailheads, and Georgian Bay beaches.

We are fortunate to call this ecologically diverse and extremely private piece of land home, and we are excited to welcome you here to explore the magic for yourself. Our 50 acre parcel would have comprised much of the maple bush for the original 400 acre farm property. The stone fence rows and laneways lined with large boulders are remnants from the days or horse drawn carriages, likely put in place hundreds of years ago. In addition to the maple bush there are several acres of cedar bush, open wild flower meadows, as well as fields dotted with larger shade-giving trees. A small half acre of the property is used to farm fresh cut flowers which you are welcome to visit. We also have a kitchen garden, 10 egg-laying hens, 2 very friendly outdoor cats, and our black lab Abby who will likely greet you with a bark (she is very friendly). In the summer months you can enjoy a handful of lakes for swimming and boating all within 10-15 minutes of our property. We are happy to share details and locations. We are conveniently located just off of Highway 10, ten minutes north of Markdale and 25 minutes south of Owen Sound. If you are headed north to Tobermory, we are a perfect mid way point if coming from Toronto, with Tobermory just an hour and a half north of us.

1 night at Beaver Valley Base Camp

Everything was exactly as described and exceeded our expectations. The property was incredibly easy to find, and from the moment we arrived everyone was so warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. The cabin itself is amazing, comfortable, charming, and thoughtfully put together. The setting is absolutely spectacular and ended up being everything we had hoped for and more. It was exactly the kind of experience we were looking for. We’re already hoping to come back again. I can only imagine that the last week of May would be especially magical with all of the apple orchard blossoms in bloom. I bet it would be absolutely breathtaking! Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a beautiful and memorable stay.

3 nights at Cozy Forest Dome

Winter camping in the cozy forest dome was 100 percent perfect. Fran is super welcome and accommodating my extra chair request, wood for the stove when needed... The dome is thoughtfully planted amongst the trees and situated as to watch the sun or moon rise in just the right spot from the comfort of a most comfortable bed. I really appreciated getting to use the wood stove. It worked really well and was east to control the temps. My favorite part other the shower was just sitting in quiet and peaceful calm looking out the window... like a cat...at the trees. Thank you so much Fran. Greatly appreciated. H

We had an amazing experience at the Forest Dome. It was absolutely beautiful and so romantic. The dome was cozy and warm, and every detail was thoughtfully done — from the art sculptures and gorgeous wooden floors to the large window overlooking the snow-covered trees. It truly felt perfect. Fran was a kind and helpful host, which made our stay even better. The whole experience was so serene and restorative — it really resets your soul. We would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Trip to That Place In The Woods

The cabin was great, clean and spacious. It also smelled amazing!! We had a bit of trouble with the hot water at the shower, but after finicking with the ignition and propane tank we managed to get it working. TIP: you have to make sure you successfully ignited the heater which can take a dozen tries. Turn the water on and wait for 30 seconds until a continuous stream of hot water comes out.

It's a nice place to stay & I'd still recommend it, but I had different expectations for a private/secluded cabin. Good: Clean cabin with clean bedding, a wood stove & fire pit, and clean toilet & shower facilities. An "art trail" going through lovely bit of forest. Could be better: There are other cabins all around but they appear not to be in use - I would not have wanted to stay if there were other campers. The host's house is visible and while I knew it was on their "farm" I thought I would have more privacy, given it said 20 acres and secluded. For example, banging and power tools heard from another cabin and the host seemed to be hauling chairs down the trail by my rented cabin, which was rather uncomfortable for me as I was in the outdoor (though covered) shower and felt awkward walking outside and back to my cabin while still trying to brush my hair and dress after my shower. It made it uncomfortable to enjoy the space because it was not as private as I hoped. I'm sure the host is nice but I really didn't want to be encountering other people, just nature. FYIs: You can't drive up to the cabin; though parking isn't too far it is a hassle if you have to haul your gear (cooking stove, cooler, etc). Perhaps host could provide a wagon in future? One other suggestion: a scoop or cup for the wood shavings used in the compost toilet. Feels icky to use my hands in a shared space. Also, a train passes by that blows its whistle LOUD & LONG. A neighbour has a loud dirt bike :(

This cabin is lovely! It is clean, fully stocked with cooking essentials (pots, pans, plates, knives, etc), and the host is very thoughtful, communicative, and helpful. I stayed here twice - on my way to the east coast and on my way back.

We, three moms looking for a little escape, couldn’t have picked a more perfect spot for our fall weekend. From the moment we arrived, everything about this place felt quietly magical. The setting is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, natural, restorative. The rustle of autumn leaves, crisp fresh air, and unspoiled surroundings made it easy to slow down and breathe. It’s rare to find somewhere so serene, where you can truly unwind. The host was thoughtful and attentive in all the right ways. The tent was comfortable and well-prepared; everything was clean, cared for, and exactly what we needed. The out houses were immaculate—so well kept that they felt more like a pleasant surprise than an afterthought. We left feeling refreshed, reconnected, and inspired. Thank you for the kindness, the care, and the chance to rest in such a lovely place. We very much hope to return!

Weekend Trip to Sanctuary Glampsite Retreat

What a super special and beautiful place. Before my review of the property, I must say that Melissa is such a kind and friendly soul. It was a pleasure meeting her and chatting when we first arrived when she showed us what’s what. Her husband was also super nice, he picked up us from the dock to take us to the island that they live on. Usually me and my partner stay in bunkies where the main property is a little further away from the bunkie, but it was so private even though it’s on the next plot. We’re used to ‘roughing’ it a bit a bit more when we glamp but this weekend, especially since it rained in the evenings, we were so grateful we’d picked somewhere with an outdoor living area. We hung out there for hours both evenings, listening quietly to music and enjoying each other’s company, playing cards and cooking great food. The region had a full fire ban so we couldn't cook over a fire pit like we usually would, but Melissa has thought of EVERYTHING! There is both a BBQ as well as a dual stove/burner, washing up sink, fully stocked cupboard of crockery, pots, pans etc which made it so easy! Appreciated the bug net (although almost 0 bugs), and the outhouse is very clean. We LOVED having Oakley come and visit us in the morning and evenings, she is very sweet and chill doggo. We also appreciated the use of the canoe, which we took over to a small island for lunch. I wish I could write more! Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us Melissa and Adrian :)
