Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. The main floor has a pull-out double bed, and the loft has 2 sets of bunk beds, ideal for kids. The bathroom facility is a newly built very airy eco-outhouse - you will be pleasantly surprised! We are fortunate to call this ecologically diverse and extremely private piece of land home, and we are excited to welcome you here to explore the magic for yourself. Our 50 acre parcel would have comprised much of the maple bush for the original 400 acre farm property. The stone fence rows and laneways lined with large boulders are remnants from the days or horse drawn carriages, likely put in place hundreds of years ago. In addition to the maple bush there are several acres of cedar bush, open wild flower meadows, as well as fields dotted with larger shade-giving trees. A small half acre of the property is used to farm fresh cut flowers which you are welcome to visit. We also have a kitchen garden, 10 egg-laying hens, 2 very friendly outdoor cats, and our black lab Abby who will likely greet you with a bark (she is very friendly). In the summer months you can enjoy a handful of lakes for swimming and boating all within 10-15 minutes of our property. We are happy to share details and locations. We are conveniently located just off of Highway 10, ten minutes north of Markdale and 25 minutes south of Owen Sound. If you are headed north to Tobermory, we are a perfect mid way point if coming from Toronto, with Tobermory just an hour and a half north of us.

Wi-Fi is available. There's no indoor shower. During the warmer months, you're welcome to use our solar-heated outdoor shower, though it's only warm after a sunny day. You might also enjoy a visit to the Scandinave Spa at Blue Mountain for hot showers, baths, and saunas. In winter, the cabin is well insulated and easily heated with an electric space heater, though the outhouse is unheated. Guest access Guests have exclusive use of the cabin. 14 nights at Peaceful Off-Grid Cabin Retreat

We truly enjoyed the time of solitude we had at this family owned off-grid-cabin in the woods. There was plenty of potable water, stove to keep us warm, indoor compostable toilet, good cell reception to our surprise, close to local stores for groceries, a very cool outdoor shower available, and comfy bed. All we needed to do was bring our food and clothes! We saw a deer on the road on the way in, not far from the cabin and the birds each morning loved to sing their songs. A place to have beautiful walks. A real taste of nature. We could not deny hearing the juvenile great horned owl during the night awaiting for their mother to bring a rodent! Thank you to Cari, for the great hospitality in providing a quiet place to relax and refresh!

Sarah and Mike are exceptional hosts from being accommodating with our changing timing upon arrival, having firewood and a comfy bed set up for us to helping us navigate accessibility to ensuring there were little things like candles and lights throughout the cabin. Any time we had an issues or concern they were immediately available to support and made us feel welcomed. I would go again not just for the cabin and the woods but to say hi what feels like friends. Weekend Trip to Beaver Valley Base Camp

We had a great time - the bunkee was nice, new and clean and we felt relatively well tucked away from the other sites. The two bunkees on the site share an out house, but there was no one at the other one, so it felt pretty private. There was no picnic table near the fire, so we were glad we brought our own chairs in the end. There was one solar light in the cabin that was enough light to manage in the evenings, but if you need things to be well lit I’d recommend bringing an extra source of light. It was super close to lots of great hiking, eating, and swimming spots so we had a great time!

Very private area in the back woods of their land with a wonderful fully lit walk to the cabin. The outhouse was very clean and actually quite cute! We will 100% be staying here again :))

Weekend Trip to Peaceful Off-Grid Cabin Retreat

We came out here for a peaceful getaway as most couples would. But, we never expected our cabin to feel like home for three nights and having the most scenic view just from the back porch. Sure the rain kept us from having a fire in the back but that didn’t stop us from seeing all the amazing outlooks and trails!! I would recommend this place for ones who enjoy the quiet and greenery when being stuck in the city life!

Weekend Trip to That Place In The Woods

Although we used the cabin mainly as a place to just sleep for this trip, my five year old and I enjoyed our stay. The woods were cute and everything was easy to find / get to as described by Jennifer. We would love to come back sometime and actually spend some more time in nature and camp here. One thing I will note is that the property was a little bit more run down than in the photos, maybe as if nobody had been there for a while (ie. I didn't feel quite comfortable going through the art trail as the start had some fairly long grass and weeds and was worried about ticks with my son and the door of the screened in lounge was hanging off the hinges). These things didn't hinder our stay at all.

I stayed in “The Poor House” and would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable “camp” experience. Everything you need to have a stress free getaway is here. 2 nights at That Place In The Woods

Gorgeous cabin and campsite near Muskoka and Gravenhurst. The cabin was clean, the shower was surprisingly nice, and it was super affordable for a few nights away. The parking spot was big enough for our truck and the 17 foot boat we were towing, and the path into the cabin has lights so it’s easy to get back to even at night. The only slightly confusing thing is that there are multiple unused cabins, and this is the “bear cabin,” which is one that’s to the left. The host also has firewood on site and a place for trash and recycling that are a safe distance from the cabin. We would definitely stay here again!

1 night at Beaver Valley Base Camp

The valley is absolutely gorgeous. My sister and I bunkie 2 for a night since we were on a fishing trip. We were absolutely stoked with how clean and warm the bunkie was. The netted porch is absolutely gorgeous. You feel so small here with cliffs around you. It makes you really appreciate the earth and abundance that is here. It's private, not "back country" private, but private in its own way surrounded by fields of flowers and apple trees. (I did eat one, it was so good) The wagon was a huge plus to load gear. Made it easy. We brought a jet boil and stove for cooking our food at night and making coffee for the mornings. There is a spiritual energy here, and if you are that type of person, you will love it even more then someone who's not. I definitely want to come back on a solo healing trip to rejuvenate myself. Maple jars for water was absolutely stylish and functional- I loved it. Out house was clean. I imagine if all shared it might get a little off, but nothing like what you see at public places etc. Kelly was very welcoming from the beginning of booking until the end of our trip. Thanks for everything:)

The cabin was exactly as described in the listing and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It truly felt like a luxury glamping experience. The last 250 metres leading to the cabin is a bit bumpy, but it’s well worth it. The cabin is secluded, peaceful, and offers plenty of privacy, making it the perfect place to disconnect from city life and immerse yourself in nature. We had an amazing time and would definitely love to come back!

Nice people- well maintained place- clean with all facilities. They have a beautiful island- close to nice parks and waterfronts. If you do not need power or shower, then a good private camping place.
