Hosting May 22 - mid/Oct My husband Dan and I purchased this property 6 years ago and have totally restored the land, home and barn from its prior condition. Consequently, if you view the various on line satellite images be advised they are out of date and do not reflect the love we have put into our sanctuary. We are retired and live here with our two standard poodles Mila and Indiana.
The property is 5 acres, mostly meadow with a maple grove as well as a wooded ravine. We have planted various fruit trees, cherries, apples, peach as well as pears. We also have a small grape and berry patch which is next to our vintage trailer. There is also an old abandoned trail through the forest that makes for a nice walk.
Our location is convenient to Traverse City, Alden, Belaire, Kalkaska as well as the equestrian center and the casino in Williamsburg. There are various places to eat/drink within close proximity as well as places to purchase fuel, groceries and liquor.
Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas are a convenient drive where you can visit the many vineyards, orchards, shops and enjoy the beautiful vistas of the lake and bays, or shop some of the unique stores and galleries.
There are many off road vehicle and bike trails that are not far away as well. As well as boating on beautiful Torch Lake and the chain of lakes.
A day trip to Sleeping Bear dunes is well worth the drive.
We would be happy to make suggestions on activities, dining, entertainment during your stay.
We currently have three sites which are on seperate areas of the property. Lake View site is a Vintage 1985 Avion travel trailer which as been completely renovated with all new systems. It is located with a western view of Lake Skegemog and next to our grape and berry patch in our back yard. Maple Grove site is a new Coachmen Catalina Destination series RV. It is located on the front side of the property next to the maple tree grove. Lavender Lane is located in front of our barn with a view of our small orchard and the forest, close to the walking trail. All our sites are fully outfitted with quality linens, towels, dishes and cooking equipment. All of the units have Air Conditioned and heat.
New this year is our chicken coop and run. We (Bill) has always wanted chickens.

Pineleaf has a total of 4 campsites! 3 are primitive and 1 rustic cabin with more cabins to come in the near future. The primitive sites sleep up to 15 people and 8 tents. The cabin sleeps up to 5 guests and is handicap accessible! and can also put tents near the cabin.
The camp is cannabis friendly for 21+ with id and complimentary with the exception if you dont want to smoke/cunsume cannabis its optional. No alcohol allowed at the camp but you may go up town or down to The Hideaway Bar & Grill for a bite and a drink!

The cabin has propane lighting, propane refrigerator, an antique stove with burner tops, and a free-standing propane gas stove for crisp evenings. There is a small kitchen area with a sleeping loft above and a sitting/family area at the far end of the cabin. The kitchen is equipped with pots and pans, coffee pot, dishes, and misc. utensils. *Please bring your own linens, pillows, and water.
On the backside of the cabin, you'll find a peaceful sitting area with a firepit. When nature calls, there is a well-built outhouse that is available. There is also a large outdoor shower with heated water and a dressing area. There are trails that meander through the property for those who enjoy walking, biking, snowmobiling, or four wheeling. You won't find a more peaceful, tranquil property to relax in and enjoy the wildlife. Only 1.3 miles into Manton with several bars and restaurants. Within 3 miles you are able to gain access to State property, the Manistee River, and Chase Creek.
From the trails in this area you can go as far as Houghton Lake and Fife Lake. Great area for hunting, fishing, four wheeling, dirt bikes, and hiking. This is a great getaway you don't want to miss out on!

Llama Meadows Farm is a sixteen acre organic fruit and vegetable farm. We're a family peace farm. We have quiet time from 11 pm until 7 am. We have several games- bocce ball, badminton, frisbee, and a soccer ball.

We have a beautiful bonfire patio with about 15 chairs. We also have a sink in our Welcome Station. For drinking or brushing teeth. Dishes are still washed in the dishwashing station. We have an instant hot water station as well as a charging station to charge your phones.
We have our pup Jazzy Bear on the site, who's the Hostess with the Mostest.
When the campsite is full, we do a group bonfire where everyone is invited to get to know each other.
We also have an artsy outhouse.
Located in Beautiful Benzie Country, in Northwestern Lower Michigan. We are one mile south of Crystal Lake and six miles east of Lake Michigan. Our-house is super insulated and passive solar. We had llamas for their wool and manure.
We retired from raising llamas, we had 12 they got old and moved on. We have around 50 fruit trees. The fruit we grow includes apples, pears, figs and paw paws. We also grow grapes, and kiwis, we also put in filberts, walnuts and pecans. We have a beautiful labyrinth peace garden.

This 20-acre property is surrounded by public land and is a short hike to Rapid River, which is nestled in a valley of giant cedars and white pines. The property has trails through a hardwood forest of maples, beeches and cherry trees. There is also an open meadow that boasts an abundance of wildlife. The property is secluded on a deadend two-track less than two miles from US-131 between Kalkaska and Mancelona. Torch Lake is only a 20-minute drive and Traverse City is about 50 minutes away.
There is a clean porta-potty and water can be provided on request. Also, a 4-person tent can be provided at an additional cost. The campsite has a fire ring, shovel and plenty of wood for late night fires. The Raven's Nest is a cozy 12 x 16 cabin. It is an off-grid experience with a wood stove for winter adventures.
The property is a work in progress, with a goal of it becoming an eco-retreat with updated accommodations. We hope you return for more adventures to see the progress.

Gregoria and Steve were great hosts. Very friendly and accommodating. Gps got us to within a mile but the written directions ultimately did the trick. I didn’t need to bring nearly half of the stuff I brought as the Casa Azul was fully stocked with all kinds of camp friendly items. I think we will try to plan to have another family we know get the other larger tent site and make it a party. We will definitely come back again.

Dan and Bill are attentive hosts, and their property is full of beautiful wonder. It was the perfect place to come back to after a day of exploring around Traverse City. 10/10 recommend!

Absolutely beautiful stay, even with a little smoke. We stayed with our two pups and we had an amazing stay at the bunkhouse. A peaceful retreat and getaway for us and the dogs. We celebrated our pup Milo's first birthday with a grilled hamburger and Carole and Art really went above and beyond with our stay. They had extra water for our dogs outside and really anything and everything you could need for your stay. The trails were clearly marked and we had fun eating wild raspberries and watching the butterflies in the fields. We will definitely be back for another stay sometime, as we could not get enough of it in just two days!

Perfect from booking to check-out!
Our hosts were gracious and welcoming and provided incredible customer service along with detailed instructions for the outdoor shower room’s water heater and other amenities at their (very well supplied) off grid cabin.
We found this quaint log-built gem with its retro fixtures and cozy furniture and marked trail system and lovely back patio and fire pit tucked into a wooded hillside (complete with a firefly display at dusk) so utterly charming that we canceled our waterfront dinner reservations in Frankfort to stay on-site and enjoy this little bit of paradise as long as we could.
Highly recommended. Will be back (again & again!)

2 nights at Private Rustic Pines- Dog friendly
Leah’s ‘Rustic Pines’ is a beautiful location. It’s brand new, exceptionally clean, and still smells of new wood. There is a gas cook stove, a queen sized mattress, a solar lantern, and plenty of candles. It’s nestled in the woods, and easy to find with Leah’s directions. There are well marked trails on the property, and it’s close to all of the local attractions. I highly recommend to anyone wanting an off grid experience!!

I loved Dan and Bills oasis. It was clean, quiet, safe, inviting and they were the most kind hosts. The tiny home was comfortable and had everything you would need during your stay.

Dan and Bill are excellent hosts. This is the second camper of theirs I've stayed in and I liked this one even more. The little patio area was perfect for doing some computer work outside.

Weekend Trip to Arcala Bunkhouse
This was beyond our expectations and just the most lovely place to unwind and relax!! Our stay was so very comfy thanks to the extra amenities provided. We loved listening to all the birds, walking the trails, spotting deer/frogs/slugs/other creatures and sitting around that excellent fire pit. Our dogs were so relaxed and engaged with everything around us. The outhouse was the cleanest I have ever seen not to mention very cute and the shower is an amazing extra touch. Art and Carole are such caring hosts who clearly love sharing this very special place with others and we are so grateful we got to experience it!!

We had a fantastic stay! The camper was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. The outdoor spaces were beautiful, and relaxing in the hot tub after a day of exploring was the perfect way to unwind.
Dan and Bill were wonderful hosts: friendly, welcoming, and full of great recommendations for things to do in the area. We especially enjoyed visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Haven, the Cherry Festival in Traverse City, and renting a kayak on Torch Lake.
If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with easy access to Northern Michigan's best attractions, I highly recommend staying here. We'd happily come back again!

We had so much fun at Georgia’s site! Tent was large and plenty of space. Most importantly there were a LOT of activities that kept the kids happy and entertained until bedtime. All the amenities with a grill and fire pit. Highly recommend and would love to come back!

Weekend Trip to pineleaf.
We had a wonderful time staying at Pineleaf! Our host, Tim, was very welcoming and hospitable. We stayed in the cabin. We woke up every morning to a great variety of birds and wildlife surrounding us, especially in the gorgeous field that the deck overlooked. The bed and outhouse bathroom were exceptionally clean. We highly recommend staying here and hope to come back soon!

Stayed here with my family of four for two nights and my kids said this was their favorite place we stayed! The bus is rustic so if you are expecting the four seasons then please move along. If you want a truly unique campsite in the northern part of the mitten, then this is for you. We never met our host in person but they were very easy to chat with via the app and also gave us their phone number in case we needed anything. We brought our own camp stove and cooked outside for all of our meals, but I think if you wanted to use the propane cooktop in the bus you need to bring your own propane. There was also a fire pit where we had wonderful fires in the evenings. This spot is really private and we loved spending time here. It is also only a few minutes from the town of Charlevoix and in less than 10 minutes you can be at a beach, you can be at the grocery store, or you can be eating ice cream or dining at a great restaurant.
The air conditioning in the bus keeps it nice and cool, it is pretty buggy in Michigan this time of year so we appreciate keeping everything shut while we were sleeping.
If I was coming here again I would make sure to bring two full sized fitted sheets and one twin sized fitted sheet for the bed. You bring all your own bedding so please take note.
There were some very basic kitchen amenities that we found helpful, but whatever you require you should bring.
Bathroom was clean and easy to use.
Definitely hoping we'll come again!

We had a great time in the Avion at HillCrest! The location is perfect, close to lots of things to do but far away to feel secluded. The Avion itself was stocked with essentials and was the perfect cozy spot to hang out ant the end of the day. Dan and Bill were very welcoming hosts and have put a lot of time and love into their beautiful property. We look forward to planning an another trip!

We loved staying at Maple Grove. The RV was comfortable with all the things we needed. Whenever we had a problem (a storm knocked out one of the A/C units) or needed something (spices and a grill) Bill was very responsive and resolved it. The outdoor space is beautiful and inviting. The hot tub was amazing after hiking earlier in the day. The location was great; quiet, secluded, and out of the way yet close enough to Traverse City, Torch Lake, cute towns like Elk Rapids and Alden, and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Bill and Dan are excellent hosts, and have done an incredible job restoring their property. We'd recommend staying with them at any of their sites, but we will definitely be back to Maple Grove!
