Beautiful place but the sites are very narrow, some neighbors were finding it difficult to park their car on their lot. For the price we paid to be on the river this should be changed.

Timberwolf Mini Loft RV
IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THE TINY HOUSE RV (Timberlane) - READ THIS REVIEW :)
We stayed at Winding River on Wednesday to Saturday. We booked through Sunday but decided to head back early. What you should know:
The location is superb. It was 25-30 minutes to Glen Arbor, 15 minutes to Empire Bluff Trail, 15 minutes to Platte River Fishing Weir, and 30 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes.
There was a ton of shade, tidy/clean facilities, and fairly quiet for being off US 31. Overall, we loved it and will definitely consider staying again if we come up to the Dunes again.
Now about the Timberline Tiny House RV and what you need to know:
1)I think this was advertised to sleep 5. Ooommppphhh. You could definitely sleep 5, but not comfortably. I would recommend no more than 3 adults or 2 adults with 2 small kids (10 and under).
2)The sofa at the front turns into a sleeper “bed”. However, when this is extended you cannot get out of the RV because it blocks the slider.
3)The small loft had a slender twin “mattress” pad. The loft could fit 2 kids under 10 if they were sleeping head to feet and if there are 2 sleeping mats.
4)The kitchen came equipped with:
- Dishwasher
- Washer/dryer combo
- Toaster
- 5 cup coffee machine
- 4 silverware “sets”
- 4 drinking cups, 6 bowls, 6 plates
- 1 medium frying pan
- 2 very small sauce pans
- 2 round cake pans
- 1 round pizza pan? (I think)
- Salt, pepper, and grilling seasoning
- Dish soap
- Dish scrubber
5)If you intend to use the kitchen a lot I
Very nice folks. Would stay there again. RV in 23B says it’s made to sleep 8: it was big, but not that big! There’s a queen (maybe king?) in the front, with a corner bathroom in the back left corner and double+ sized bunk beds in the right back corner. I think the dining table could be converted to another double, but it doesn’t seem to be that kind of table. Byo towels & bedding, of course.

This is our second year camping here to fish for salmon. It’s well run and so convenient for being able to walk to the river. Bathroom is clean and hot showers are nice to have.

I appreciated the helpful and friendly staff. They have a great store onsite, nice shower houses, a nice game room and a pool. It’s wonderful to have the river on property and just float, swim or fish! It’s also close to a grocery store (which happens to have a Starbucks inside if that’s your jam).
One thing I didn’t like is one half of the park seemed to be long term residents. It just made it feel different for a vacation spot. Additionally the tent campsites are VERY small.

We loved camping at this campground! It was very peaceful and quite beautiful. The only con is that personally, our site was right next to the building in which the fish guts were kept, so it smelled pretty bad most of the time depending on how the wind blew. We weren’t at our campsite much so it was fine, but something to be aware of when selecting tent site #30.

We stayed at Winding River Campground at the end of July on site 40. When we first arrived the hookup for the electricity was all the way on the other side of the camper, we called the front desk and they graciously let us borrow an extension cord. The site itself is pretty tight, our 22ft camper fit perfectly, but anything bigger than that would be very tight. It’s right on the betsie river which the kids loved! They floated and played in the river all weekend. Camp bathrooms were ok, water was warm all days but one. We brought bikes but the paths were too gravely to ride on. The campground is very quaint so walking anywhere isn’t bad at all. Used the laundry and that was a nice accommodation. Overall we were very pleased with our stay. It’s not your big chain campground and that’s exactly what we were looking for. Would definitely recommend.
Friendly staff and cute cabin. Furnishings are older but the cabin was sufficient and cozy.
My family had a blast at the campground. Not only electric but also water available at the side and people were also very friendly. The campground was very clean and with pool and river access. We will come back!
We had a great time at Winding Rivers campground! Our first stay there! Site was tomorrow with a good view of the river. However, due to the size of our RV (38'), we had to pull in front first. Not a big problem, but the water was across our neighbors site. Friendly folks and lots to do in the area! Try the ice cream and pizza shops just up the street!!

We camp with a small Rpod. Lot 37 was perfect!! We were right on the rivers edge and enjoyed watching the fish jump, turtles that came to visit and listening to the birds each morning.
We came in contact with several staff members and all were very kind and told us to call if we needed anything. We will definitely be back!

We were right on the river watching the salmon run and the fishermen landing big steelhead trout! The site was clean and the staff was courteous and efficient.

We actually camped on beautiful site 47 along the Betsie River. It was our first trip with a new
trailer. Camp staff and fellow-campers were friendly, and helpful. We enjoyed every moment gazing at stars around a campfire, fishing the river, as well as biking and hiking on nearby trails. Thanks Winding River/Hip-Camp!

Winding River is a great place to be for the Betsie River salmon fishing. There were lots of experienced fishers in the campground to help inexperienced folks like us. Staff was friendly and helpful, bathrooms were clean with flush toilets and hot showers. The surrounding area was beautiful. If we decide to try the salmon fishing again we will camp here.

This campground is truly a hidden gem! Everyone we met, whether guests or staff, was incredibly friendly. Being new to river fishing, the staff went out of their way to offer helpful tips and suggest the best spots. I really appreciate that the river access is exclusive to campground guests, keeping it peaceful and uncrowded. We will definitely be back!

I loved camping here! Everyone that works here are so kind and helpful! The bathrooms were very clean and temperature controlled. The environment was well taken care of and felt very safe! They have a general store that offers plenty of angler equipment, and household/grocery items. It has a great fishing and kayaking spot as well; just note that the nearby river is a bit shallow for the kayak rentals. It’s only about a 20 minute drive from Sleeping Bear Dunes too! I will definitely return. :)
The host was friendly and accommodating, but a couple of things I feel need to be addressed the bathrooms were clean every day, but the two showers they had in the guy's control knobs were not working, and one shower barely had any pressure. The girls only had one of the two working. It was very tight, close to campsites, but the river was Beautiful. Besides that, it is close to sleeping Bear Dunes and the Platte River, as well as great bike trails. Another thing not mentioned in the description was that you are not allowed to have a tent on the river sites, so we needed to rent a separate site, which cost us an extra $500 for the stay along with our campsite. And we didn't get reimbursed for the additional car that we were charged for when we initially booked it for one campsite, which should've been included when we purchased the second campsite. Other then that i think it is a good csmpground overall.

The site was a bit small and there was no picnic table, which neither would stop us from going back. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the bathrooms were clean. The campground was in a good location, near stores and other attractions, everything was easily accessible. I really enjoy my time there and would go back again anytime we want to visit that part of our beautiful state!

The camper was clean and nice enough however the hot water did not work and there was very little space at the site. We didn't have the time to try to figure out the hot water so not sure if it would have been addressed if we complained but when I checked out and mentioned it there was no apology or attempt to resolve. The location right on the river near the back area was cool and nice that it was away from Hwy 31 but the bathhouse near our camper was shut down for most of the stay and we had to go a long way to get to the main one. Not awful but just OK :)

Tent camping was rather nice at Winding River. Facilities were clean and the owner / staff were very accommodating. Bring a fire grate for cooking if you like to cook over the fire. Otherwise, very happy with my stay.
We had a great time camping here. Pools and bathrooms were clean. Very family friendly and friendly staff. Would recommend!

We stayed at site 89 and 90, near the pool and showers and were happy with the sites! Pool and bathrooms were very clean. We had no issues and they were very accommodating. The river was clean and beautiful. Only about a 15 minute drive from Lake Michigan.
Very clean, staff were very welcoming and a great location.
Winding River is a fantastic place to stay. The location is gorgeous - we caught a Rainbow and a Brown trout literally right outside our trailer door! The swimming pool and the playground was fantastic for my grandson too. The service from the campsite staff was always fast and friendly. I highly recommend staying here if you get the chance!
