Mosque Lake and Ompah offer many adventures and places to discover. Go out on a hike and explore the trails in the area. Go on a photographic adventure and try to capture the best wildlife shots around the lake. Take a SUP or a kayak -available for free for the guests- and explore the islands. And if you like to prepare fresh fish-based dishes, Mosque Lake has great trout and perch fishing.
If you like to follow the winds of winter, take a pair of snowshoes available at the cabin and go across the lake and have a winter picnic. Set up your fishing shack outside your door, open a hole and fish!
*Winter roads require an AWD or 4WD vehicle to access Juniper Cabin.
Parking is available on-site for all guests. If you bring your boat, there is parking for your trailer as well.
*Power outages due to storms are always a possibility in cottage country. Typically, power is restored within a few hours if this should happen. Cottages will be stocked with candles and flashlights for guest safety.
*Internet/WIFI access is available at the property- connect to our WIFI and work from the cabins.
* If you’d like to bring your own boat, there is a free boat launch on the lake, and we can support docking your boat.

Guest are welcome to bring their own firewood. The first crate of firewood is included with your stay, and each additional crate is $5. The firewood is self-serve and we ask you to simply let us know how much wood you have used during your stay, or leave the appropriate funds on your table at check out.
Guests are responsible for removing their garbage and recycling from the cabin and bringing it to the garbage shed. The township requires all waste to be sorted, and the containers in the shed are labelled accordingly. Please sort your garbage and do your part to help save our planet.
We do have neighbours on one side of our property and share the peninsula with our amazing cottage community. Please be courteous to our cottage neighbours. We ask that you respect them and the noise levels while staying with us.

Parking is available on-site for all guests. If you bring your boat, there is parking for your trailer as well.
*Power outages due to storms are always a possibility in cottage country. Typically, power is restored within a few hours if this should happen. Cottages will be stocked with candles and flashlights for guest safety.
*Internet/WIFI access is available at the property- connect to our WIFI and work from the cabins.
* If you’d like to bring your own boat, there is a free boat launch on the lake, and we can support docking your boat.

Guest are welcome to bring their own firewood. The first crate of firewood is included with your stay, and each additional crate is $5. The firewood is self-serve and we ask you to simply let us know how much wood you have used during your stay, or leave the appropriate funds on your table at check out.
Guests are responsible for removing their garbage and recycling from the cabin and bringing it to the garbage shed. The township requires all waste to be sorted, and the containers in the shed are labelled accordingly. Please sort your garbage and do your part to help save our planet.
We do have neighbours on one side of our property and share the peninsula with our amazing cottage community. Please be courteous to our cottage neighbours. We ask that you respect them and the noise levels while staying with us.

What a beautiful land- truly grateful for the opportunity to stay at Big Rock Eco Resort. Thank you to Jason and Susie for being wonderful hosts. The Cabin itself was beautiful and has more than enough amenities to enjoy a stay comfortably. Directions were clear and easily understood. The experience was very peaceful and enjoyable, literally so quiet out there. Lots of trails to explore and we were able to skate on the lake and the hot tub was a big bonus. A big thank you to Rocky and Jason, who helped my guarded dog socialize so he could enjoy some play with a pup friend! We all had an amazing time, will be returning in the near future!

Natalie and Seth's barn was overall a great experience! We enjoyed all the extras that were provided to us: entertainment system, well stocked kitchen, etc. The art pieces were also a nice addition too. We all slept great and warm. Our only complaint would be that the toilet smell was a little difficult to tame for us. The sawdust helped a bit but still had a faint smell in the downstairs living space so we had to vent out the barn every few hours to get some fresh air. Hope to come back soon! Thanks Natalie and Seth!

Monica is fantastic host. The campsite is clean. The yellow chalet is cute. Each cottage houses have there own personalities. They have the stuff you need for cooking and fire pit. Access to the water is good. Good for swimming boating and fishing. The hiking trails are marked.
Highlly recommended if you like nature away from city noises.

Weekend Trip to Big Rock Eco Retreat & Campgrounds
What a wonderful time away where it felt that time stood still in the midst of falling leaves and glorious rays of sunshine. Jason and Susie ensured to meet all needs with prompt responses and, when needed, support. We enjoyed viewing the property, a peaceful boat ride and, of course, the accommodations. We didn't want to leave. A true bucket filling experience where we left feeling relaxed and grateful. Only regret is not booking an extra day.

We stayed at the lakeside dome for two nights and loved every moment. It was peaceful, well maintained and had everything we needed. When we arrived Jason, the owner, and Rocky his very friendly dog came to greet us. He gave us a tour of the property and the other sites and answered any questions we had. We also went on a tour of the lake which was beautiful. He was very passionate and knowledgeable about the area and reccomepnded places we could go. 100/10 could not reccomend enough. We will definitely be coming back!

What a picturesque setting with SO many options of accommodation and activities. We were blessed with beautiful weather during our stay and not many other guests which made it very peaceful. This cabin is perfectly set atop a hill so you get the stunning water views without being right in the action on the waterfront. There is a bit of a walk to the cabin from parking across the road, as well as down a flight of wooden stairs to the waterfront.
The cabin was equipped with air conditioning which is very necessary in this summer's heat. The bedrooms were nicely tidied up and prepared with all the linens and towels needed. There was a delightful surprise awaiting us on the dining table with local wine, maple syrup and some other snacks.
Our host was very communicative and helpful in preparing for this trip and making himself available if we needed anything during our stay. We would love to go back with friends to rent more cabins and share the experience together.

We had the fortune to meet the owner Mike and his wife, they are both genuinely nice people. The camp ground is private property with a few cabins, a big lodge with various rooms and a new large barn style building that is under construction. Everything was clean, orderly and exceeded our expectations. The owner Mike was very accommodating when we needed something or had questions. The lake is absolutely beautiful and the grounds are situated beside a shallow rapid which is nice to sit by and have a coffee. The beach is well maintained and you have access to free kayaks, paddle boats etc. There is also an in ground pool and hot tub near the lodge. We will definitely be going back, this is a truly beautiful spot with great and friendly owners.

A nice old schoolhouse lot with pool hot tub gazebo and firepit spots. It is close to provincial parks and the caves. Eva’s kitchen offers a wide variety hungarian meals. They are always fresh and very tasty. Eva and Sandor are excellent hosts. My wife and I had an amazing two-night stay at the Lakeside Dome at Big Rock Eco Retreat. The whole experience was peaceful, memorable, and incredibly well-hosted. Jason, the owner, was fantastic—very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. He took us on an ATV tour of the property, gave us a boating lesson, and took us out on the lake. We also enjoyed the company of his energetic, well-trained dog, Rocky. If you’re looking for a top-notch glamping experience in a dome, this is the place to go. There’s also a beautiful Hillside Dome on the property that we got to check out, and it looked just as amazing. The 3-hour drive from the GTA was absolutely worth it!

Cottage was small but very cozy with all the requirements necessary .Two fisherman or a couple will love the comfort it provides with a nice old school warm cottage experience.Lake is beautiful and very community like surroundings.Fishing this lake is for an experienced fisherman to have good results.so if your a fisherman looking for commodities to fulfill your hunger this place is for you.Great hosts and beautiful wilderness cottage comfort.If your social and friendly looking for a quiet outa city cottage experience I highly recommend and would not think twice about suggesting this place to anyone.I will definitely be a long time customer to enjoy angling and my cottage experience at this place.My pups had the time of his life.

Beautiful area. We stayed in the lakeside dome which is being set up for accessibility. We got a tour of the dome on the hill. Next trip we will use that one. Very private, amazing views. We absolutely loved staying at Susie and Jason's dome in the woods. Jason met us upon arrival and drove us through the property to the dome. He spent a good amount of time going over everything to make sure we were comfortable and knew how to operate the pellet stove and water. We happened to arrive the day a huge snow storm was coming, so the scenery was beautiful. No better place to be to hunker down! The dome was comfortable and clean. The kitchen had all the necessities.
Beds and pillows were excellent. The loft bed even has dual remotes so you and you partner can adjust it according to your likes. Hot tub was awesome to have a soak in at night under the stars. Added bonus was how the surrounding forest was dimmly lit up with black lights at night. All in all our time here was awesome. The only recommendation I would give the hosts is to make sure the dome is heated upon the guest's arrival. We will be back again for sure! Thanks for a great mid-week getaway from the kids!

Petroglyphs Provincial Park
Home to the largest concentration of the country’s indigenous rock carvings, Petroglyphs Provincial Park also offers pristine forests and famed blue-green waters at McGinnis Lake. Campers can peruse the carvings of humans and animals at The Teaching Rocks while hiking the surrounding landscape. Although the park does not offer camping or cabin rentals, these accommodations can be found nearby or back in Bancroft.
When to go
Campers enjoy visiting Bancroft year-round. Although summertime is popular, each season offers outdoor fun. June through August is peak camping season, which is complemented by activities like swimming, boating, and hiking. While winter and spring attract fewer campers, there are still plenty of activities and campsites in operation; though it’s important to monitor the weather and possible road closures due to snow. After summer, autumn is Bancroft’s most popular season with its colourful foliage, fall festivals, and farmer’s markets.
