This working farm has been enjoyed for generations of local families. Stay off-the-grid in a cozy, rustic cabin retreat. The historic barns, deep swimming pond, sugar house, and stunning woods with trails that have 2 disc golf baskets all provide ample space, entertainment and privacy for a quiet and relaxing retreat. Learn more about this land: Come join us at the Gaylin Farms – home to four friendly goats, Newfoundland ponies, Chanticler chickens, two dogs and a cat. Stay at our completely private cabin (sleeps 3 comfortably, sleeping mats/air mattresses NOT provided) isolated within the centre of a gorgeous 25-acre forest with a private groomed c. 1.5 km walking/biking trail. The cabin is a 5-minute walk from the Trans Canada RailTrail which grants easy access for longer bike rides, runs, hikes, and four-wheeler adventures. You’ll walk through a horse pasture and a cow pasture on your way to the cabin. There is a large farm pond (10ft deep) on the property for swimming. Enjoy access to locally-sourced food, firewood (at a small fee), drinking water, a private firepit, small wood stove and our old-fashioned wood-fired cook stove. There is no electricity or running water (but we provide ample drinking water) and there can be access to a charger box so you may charge your devices or have a light at night. Bring your pets and enjoy a private retreat. The max capacity of the cabin is three people. An outhouse with double-duty bag and second luggable loo are available for all guests. Minimum stay: 2 nights. NEW ADDITION: A new room, a small annex, has been constructed to allow for downstairs sleeping and writing area. It is fully insulated with a wood stove so this area may be used year round. The annex gives one a deeper feeling of being a part of the woods.

It’s rustic but comfortable, completely off grid, no power, no wifi, and we rely on rainwater. Outside you will find a hand built stone and mortar fire pit, a cook shack equipped with all your cooking needs - a Butane stove, plates. cutlery, cups, spices, can opener, oil, French press for coffee, a tea pot, along with coffee and tea. A cooler to store your food in, and a covered area to eat. Enjoy star-filled skies, bird watching, and the simple quietness of nature. Enjoy walking the trails, or enjoy other activities such as, mountain biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or hit the trails by ATV straight from the tent. There will be animals free ranging, from goats, pigs, chickens, dogs, and cats, all friendly and more than welcome to say hi and give them pets. Animals on the Homestead: Chickens, Goats, Rabbits, Potbelly pigs, dogs, and cats. From roosters crowing, goats bleating, to piglets squealing, there are many farm animals to visit and give pets! 1 night at Bootsie's

We surprised my parents with a stay at Bootsie Back 40 Cabin for their 40th anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect! The hosts went above and beyond with every detail. The cabin itself is so cozy and welcoming, surrounded by stunning fall colors that made the whole experience magical. My parents loved the peace and quiet — they spent their mornings sipping tea while listening to the birds sing. The hosts were wonderfully friendly and even took photos of my parents for me, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also got to visit the farm animals (including two emus!), which they absolutely adored. Thank you for helping me give my parents such a memorable and heartfelt experience. This will be a trip they’ll cherish forever!

Weekend Trip to Bootsie's

Great little spot. The wood stove made it very cozy and we had enough power for the water, lights and coffee in the morning. It was great having a camping experience while not having to take down tents in the morning. Recommend it if you're in the area.

2 nights at Bootsie's

Bootsie's was our home for 2 nights During our road trip from Ontario to the Maritimes. It was well equipped and we were able to drive our car right to the cabin. We enjoyed the luxury of some electricity (while it lasted) to make some great coffee that was provided. We really enjoyed hanging out with the Emus and Chickens and taking in the sweeping views at sunset. Loved our stay here!

3 nights at GayLin Farms

This is our second visit to this beautiful slice of off grid life. Even though it rained during a good bit of our stay, the fires kept us cozy. Gayle is a fabulous host and is always available if you need her.
