We named our property "The Old Canoe", inspired by the old canoes we used while growing up. Although this is an outdoor enthusiast's dream, you don't HAVE to be one to appreciate these unique vacation rentals, which provide a unique semi-off-grid experience with nature. It's a perfect couples retreat, or single's escape. Fancy Outhouses are provided near your rental and near the Shore, and an Outdoor Heated Shower in the forest promises a refreshing experience. Guests enjoy FREE use of our shore, canoes, and kayaks (depending on weather conditions). SWIMMING IS NOT ADVISED, as it is somewhat muddy/marshy, and shallow ... but it's PERFECT for small watercraft and fishing! Our family of four enjoyed the solitude this cabin on a small lake offered for a much needed staycation. We enjoying resting in the hammock and the gentle rhythm the decks rocking chair provided. We brought our own, but there are several fishing rods available and ready to use. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. Looks like there’s going to be some upcoming renovations to the cabin so we can’t wait to see what’s coming up next at Grumpy Bear Hollow!

Great place to park my truck for a couple of nights. Protected, shady, quiet, and peaceful. They had a table and a tarp there if I had needed them, which was a nice touch. It was super dry, so didn't have too many bugs (I could see them being pretty bad if it was wet out). Didn't need to set up a tarp or anything, but plenty of trees to do so if you need to. Also great places for hammocks! It's perfect if you are staying in a hammock, small camper, or vehicle. I'm not sure where I would have found a non rocky/rooty/rutty place to set up a tent if that's where I had been sleeping, so keep that in mind if you are tenting it. It was great for the set-up I have! The neighbors house felt a little close, but where and how I parked still felt very private with the angle of my vehicle and the trees. I think I was just more surprised than anything as I didn't notice it in the pictures. Great spot for a few nights!

My husband and I were looking for a secluded campsite that was easily accessible. we figured we would give this a try even though it was a little farther of a drive than we would have liked. It did not disapoint, only regret we had was not going longer. It had way more than expected there with so many little heart felt thing to make this place magical. Only issue I had as a mom of 5 kids is not being able to be reached during an emergency due to no cell service. We drove to poley that evening to check in however I would have been more at ease with cell service for emergencies. It was however very nice not having access to our cell phones and this allowed us to really connect with each other with no distractions.

NS provincial park fire ban. Way to ruin camping… off grid ftw. Great, amazingly nice hardworking people, both Mike and Salma. Chantal the horse trainer is amazing with kids and even taught me not to pick at how well a chore is done, rather that it is done at all. Kids loved the cave, and rock climbing. I’d have to say the zip line was both of their highlight at the park. 🥳
