We are a small Eco Resort in Sandilands Provincial Forest. All 4 cabins are solar, and off grid. Just 3 min for Woodridge, and set on the western border of the Sandilands provincial Forest. It's a cottage community and sees a steady influx of visitors. There are groomed snowmobile trails, cross country ski trails, as well as a ATVing, and hunting in the area.
SANDILANDS PROVINCIAL FOREST:
The soil is still a reminder of the ancient beaches, but is now covered with a rich forest of mixed hardwoods and majestic pine. The high sand ridges of the Sandilands area, known as Bedford Hills and Cypress Mountains, are the second highest point of elevation in Manitoba.
Additionally you will have access to all the shared amenities of the eco-resort including a wood-fired barrel sauna (all year), outdoor shower (in the summer)
As well as the Organic swimming pool.
There are 3 other unique rents on the property
Fire pit firewood can be bought $20 for a wagon (Woodstove wood is provide).
You can also buy hand made Metis art. (all money goes to the artisan)
We also buy décor and blankets from Metis, and aboriginal company's in Canada.

A secluded tipi located in the forest on the back half of an 82 acre property. Here you will have access to your own private tipi that is 24 feet in diameter and 28 feet tall.
Inside our tipi you will find a homemade queen size luxurious log bed and 2 cots as well as double pull out futon with room for 6 people. Beside the tipi there is retro fitted off grid trailer with a double sink and a compostable toilet for your privacy. There is plenty of room for your toiletries, food and any other belongings that need to be stored. A full size propane bbq and a screened in fire pit with benches to enjoy an Evening bonfire. Welcome to our bright, spacious cottage on the east shores of majestic Lake Winnipeg, nestled within Manitoba’s only protected UNESCO World Heritage Site — Pimachiowin Aki, “The Land That Gives Life.” Here, deep boreal forest meets untouched shoreline, and adventure begins the moment you arrive.
Just under three scenic hours north of Winnipeg, Loon Straits is a hidden gem where wildlife outnumbers people and the stars shine brighter. Watch pelicans and eagles soar, keep an eye out for foxes or even the occasional moose, and fall asleep to the sounds of nature.
Built in 2013, our open-concept getaway features two bedrooms, one bath, a sunroom, and a wraparound deck with stunning lake views. The Lilypad measures 10 x 20 feet, with a large covered deck that is just steps from the water. Although it is tiny, the cabin has everything you need to have a relaxing and fun time! The garden doors open into a beautiful space - with high whitewashed pine ceilings and white shiplap walls. The decor is a mix of scandi and boho styles - with a touch of vintage. The large glass garage door opens to provide panoramic views of the bay. Spend the morning lounging in bed, with the garage door open, and enjoy the breeze drifting in and the wild life floating by. Or curl up in the hammock chairs with a good book and a cool drink and feel the warm summer sun on your skin.
Our compact kitchen has stainless steel countertops and a small sink. Our vintage dining table and chairs are just the cutest and just the right size for 2 to 3 people. The living/sleeping area consists of a queen size futon and twin size loft bed (should you need the extra bed). The rustic outdoor toilet and shower are just around the corner of the deck and add to the charm of the property.
The Lilypad sits on a large flat granite rock which curves down to the water. The rock is the perfect place for sunbathing, doing a few yoga stretches, and enjoying the campfire, You can throw a line in and spend the afternoon fishing, or take the plunge into the cool waters of Lake Winnipeg. Rent one of our kayaks or canoe and take a paddle out to one of the many tiny islands that dot the bay. So many great things to see and do at The LIlypad at Loon Straits.

With kids
This was by far the best camping/glamping experience we've ever had. Glen gave us such a warm welcome, even before we arrived at his property, greeting us at the entrance. He took the time to explain everything in detail and treated us to an off-road ride, showing us the stunning acres of his forested land. He also provided firewood and coffee in the morning—such a wonderful gesture. Glen is truly a wonderful host.
The tipi was incredibly cozy, with all the bedding already set up for us, which made us feel right at home. We felt completely safe and at peace during our stay. One thing I’d recommend is bringing insect repellent, as there are quite a few bugs, but that’s to be expected in a nature setting. The best part is that you’ll have the entire place to yourself, which makes it feel even more special.
The property has a full-sized BBQ, which was perfect for cooking, and Glen’s chicken farm added a nice touch—he kindly brought us fresh eggs for breakfast.
If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I highly recommend this place. I’ll definitely be coming back with friends in the future!
