The Gertie Bus is located a 5 min walk to a beautiful white sand beach (at low tide). There are walking trails all around and lots of beach access. Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need. The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out. The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away. There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets. The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away. Our family lives on the top floor. Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts. Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

In a cedar grove, nestled among the ferns, a lotus belle tent awaits you. A unique bed and breakfast in an off-grid tent. Inside the belle tent there is a comfortable double bed with clean sheets, plump pillows, and a warm Pendelton blanket. A 'west coast homestead basket' with granola, fruit ,and farm eggs is provided for a nutritious breakfast. A Berkey water filter provides delicious water from our mountain well. Inside the tent, a comfortable chair looks out over the mossy forest toward the creek. There is room to stretch, and a couple of yoga mats to use. A stretch is especially nice after exploring the nearby trails through Mount Maxwell forest. The trails take through a varied and fascinating forest. Along the way are mossy knolls with vistas of the valley, ocean, and Vancouver Island. One trail leads all the way to Burgyone Bay. The belle is an off-grid seasonal tent with electric candles for lighting and a composting toilet. At night there are solar string lights--should you want them--which illuminate the path to the tent. On clear nights, turn the lights off to star-gaze through the branches.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Whalebone Guest House with another couple and our dog. The tiny house was spotless, cozy, and well equipped — with a comfortable bed, handy kitchen, and thoughtful touches throughout. Even with four of us, it felt welcoming and never cramped. The property itself is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by gardens and just a short walk to Whalebone Beach. We enjoyed quiet mornings by the ocean, easy island exploring during the day, and relaxing evenings back at the house. Our dog was happy and comfortable too, which made the trip even better. Our host was warm and accommodating, making sure we felt right at home while giving us plenty of space to relax. This was the perfect getaway spot, and we would happily return again.

This property felt very private for us! There’s a 2 minute walk down the trail to the tent area, pretty easy to get your stuff there if you’re used to trail walking. Lots of fresh fruit and granola bars provided for us! The toilet is very simple but clean and fine for a couple nights. We brought all the necessary camping equipment minus a tent and sleeping bags. You will need outdoor chairs, a stove, cooler and other camping essentials. This was pretty obvious given the description and reviews so don’t be shocked when it’s just a bed and table! Overall we really liked the area and the tent and bedding were clean and very comfortable, had a great stay!

We absolutely love staying at Tyla's property. It's so peaceful and quiet and has everything you need for a very comfortable, relaxed stay. We appreciate how dog friendly it is, but also how impeccably clean it is, as some places that advertise being dog friendly can have some unpleasant tell tale signs! The camper is always spotless and you can see the love that has been put into every detail. The bed is sooooo comfortable. We always sleep incredibly well here. Nice comfy cotton linens as well. Tyla is also incredibly responsive if you need to ask her anything. Thanks so much again for having us. We will be back again!

We had a great time staying at Paige’s place! The place was functional and clean. Bathroom and sink were close by. The place is accessible to the beach and trails nearby. Great way to unplug and rest, also blackberries everywhere on the island! So good!

We had a wonderful stay at Paige’s tiny homes. Whalebone beach is great for swimming and walking and provides shady afternoon spots to nap. It is just a short walk down the quiet road. We were even lucky enough to see whales breaching and playing 3/4 days. We will absolutely be staying here again.

Mielle was a wonderful host. The land was peaceful and lush. The bell tent was clean and spacious. A few things for future visitors: The forest is quite humid so the tent has a slight musk smell. We had one exceptionally hot day during our stay and that dried out the tent enough to clear the air but otherwise it is a bit damp. Not unpleasant enough to bother us but slightly noticeable. Also it is definitely an off-grid tent which is wonderful for those who want to unplug. The host is also very generous and gave us access to a trailer they have on the property that had a flush toilet, electricity and running water. Some things to note: the tent site is a short distance from the parking so you’ll have to pack in and pack out. There is a ravine in the middle so if you are bringing in a lot of supplies for camping, this will take some time. This site is better suited as an eco-bed and breakfast than a camping site as there is no picnic table, which makes cooking and food preparation challenging. Still, as campers we made it work. Also worth noting, the composting toilet is actually a bucket but as mentioned, our host gave us access to a trailer with a flush toilet. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend this site to others.

This truly is a hidden gem - we rented both the bus and the tiny home for a family trip. Both are very nicely put together. We made lots of use of the outdoor space for our meals and hanging out to read and relax. We really enjoyed having a beach and walking trails so nearby - it was such an easy thing to spend a couple hours on one beach, come home for lunch, then go explore another spot. The kids definitely want to go back and I couldn't agree more!

We booked both the bus and the tiny house on this listing for our family. The property is located close to one of the nicest beaches - it was our favourite of several we visited on our trip. It's so nice to pack a couple bags and walk five minutes away to sandy beach (best at low tide) with lots of great tide pools to explore. The island is quiet and peaceful and you'll have lots of privacy wherever you go. The spaces themselves are snug and comfortable and the neighbourhood is peaceful and quiet. You can see the thought the hosts have put into the space and they were easy to communicate with. Our kids loved biking on the mostly empty street and finding crabs on the beach, and we loved reading in the outdoor spaces. The kitties that came to visit outdoors were a bonus as we missed our pets back home. We fell in love and definitely want to go back!

We had a very nice 2 nights glamping in the bus. Fairly private set-up on her property with the communal bathroom a short walk away and access to a kitchen sink for washing up. Was delightfully close to a rocky beach where we didn’t see another soul as well as another beach/walking trail. Only con was that the bus was quite hot during our summer stay (no screens on the windows had us balancing cooling it down against mosquitos) but there were fans which helped. Cats were definitely a lovely bonus! Thank you for the cute stay!

What a dream come true! I was looking for a nature getaway that was in the elements & also alluring // smooth on logistics (without the noise of public campgrounds, *ideally*). Mielle’s lotus tent in the cedar forest was *MUCH* more than we bargained for! I adore cooking while camping (food always tastes best outside), so we brought a camp stove & filled the cooler with delicious local eats, yet didn’t have to worry about setting up a tent —> instead had a glorious, clean, spacious yurt to kick our feet up on a comfortable bed after exploring so many gems & adventures Salt Spring Island has to offer! Mielle was a -very kind & gracious- host.. there was fresh fruits & snacks upon arrival, clean drinking water, as well as an incredible surprise greeting from her 3yr old Bernese Mountain dog who brightened our stay beyond measure :D Can’t recommend this place enough; hope to be back some day!
