I bought this magical property 13 years ago and I have developed it from beach to mountain with the idea of sharing it with epic humans since day 1.
It is 1 acre of pure natural and artistic bliss. The natural wonders include a massive beach with space for many, a gigantic sling shot, sweet fire pits, comfortable lawn chairs, paddle boards, kayaks, a cedar strip canoe, and many other toys free for you to explore. Please note that the Beach house guests have priority of the Gazebo but there are many spots/tables and parasols set up to enjoy all other spots on the beach.
My property has 2 rentals on it, the other is right on the beach called "Sweet beach house-edge of the water", in case you wanted to book both locations. There are also a couple of sites for extra guests to pitch a tent on for a fee.
Its like jurassic park here...very tropical and chill. The artful camper boasts of an outdoor spa and deck, BBQ, mini fridge, fantastic lake and mountain views and access to the beach from 9am-8pm. The other rental a.k.a. The beach-house comes with an attached outdoor 1950's style kitchen, oudoor on demand shower, outhouse, fire pits, lawn chairs, and free use of water vessels. It is located steps from the water. Truly magical.

Wakita encompasses 25 acres of diverse wilderness and clearings. The land was developed in the 70's as an education, arts and health retreat and that history influences its atmosphere today.
A small mountain creek meanders past gardens, berry patches, rustic cabins and a stage. The land is peppered with Ancient burned out cedar trunks that stand as a testament to the wildfire that razed the valley and the town of Fernie in the early 1900's. If guests are interested in a tour we will show you our favorites!
Since Wakita borders on the wilderness of BC, we ask that our guests exercise common sense when it comes to food and fires. Upon arrival, we will provide information on the use of woodstoves, firepits, composting outhouses (for a-frame and campsites), etc.
Wakita is a 15 min drive from all of the amenities and adventure available in beautiful Fernie, BC. Explore further up our road and you will find the trailheads for popular hikes to Mount Hosmer, the Three Sisters and Heiko's trail.
Our Hipcamp accommodations consist of our glamping a-frame, an unserviced RV/tenting site and a fully serviced cabin. We look forward to being a part of your Fernie adventure!

The space
A cozy cabin with laid back elegance awaits.
The moment you step inside, you'll be surrounded by the warmth of this relaxed lakeside cabin. Some of the features are made from found beach wood and every piece has a story and it's as if the very soul of the lake is intertwined in the cabins design. The cabin has one queen size bed, a comfy sofa, extra large bar fridge, fan, delightful kitchenette and vintage wood stove.
The cabin in incredible but the outdoor 1950’s inspired kitchen will blow your mind. Stocked with the means to make a gourmet meal, you will want to use more than just the BBQ.

Once you’ve had enough swimming for the day, experience the tropical on-demand outdoor shower. All the guests say it feels as if they are showering in Hawaii. The outhouse is sparkling clean and private.

Plunk yourself in a provided lawn chair, or take a dip in water, then get ready for the star show. With no dwellings on the other side of the lake, there is no light pollution here. Let the cool waters of Kootenay lake soothe your soul as you soak in the sights and sounds of the untamed forest around you. BBQ located by the outdoor kitchen. The kitchen, hammock, BBQ and outhouse are completely yours.

There are 4 paddle boards, 1 kayak and a vintage cedar strip canoe available for all guests. There are 2 rentals on the property so be expected to share the water vessels. The spacious beach has enough zones supplied with chairs and parasols for all to privately enjoy. Guests and myself having access from 9am-8pm.

Please do not bring plastic water bottles. The water here is divine.
Firewood is not provided. You can easily pick up bundles enroute at gas stations or at our local Lakeview store located 5 mIn north.

What to Expect (Comfort Glamping vs. Hotel):
This is an authentic off-grid glamping experience (similar to a yurt, safari tent, or oTENTik)—not an insulated hotel room. Guests who arrive with a camping mindset and prepare for mountain weather have a wonderful 5-star experience!
* Dome Temperatures: The dome functions like a sturdy, hard-walled tent. In the summer, direct daytime sun warms the dome up like a greenhouse—plan to be out swimming, hiking, exploring wineries, or relaxing in the shaded gazebo! Once the sun dips behind the ridge in late afternoon, mountain breezes cool it down quickly for crisp, restful sleeping. In cooler spring/fall months, the indoor temp matches the outside mountain air—check the forecast and pack warm layers, cozy socks, and a toque (beanie).
* Diesel Heater: A small diesel heater is provided in the dome to take the chill off brisk mornings, but note the uninsulated dome does not hold heat continuously.
* Solar Shower: Water is heated naturally by the sun. It is wonderfully warm on sunny afternoons, but will be brisk in the morning or during overcast weather.
* Towels: Towels are NOT provided—please pack your own bath and beach towels.
* Bugs & Spray: Nature happens in the forest. We apply natural organic garlic suppression around camp, but mosquitoes vary with weather. A screened gazebo is provided for bug-free meals; please bring your own bug spray/repellent.
* Utensils: Basic disposable cups, plates, and cutlery are provided along with the BBQ. Feel free to bring your favorite coffee mug or special camp cookware!

This fully furnished and fully equipped cottage is super cozy for a single person or couple. Always pet friendly and no pet or cleaning fee!
The cottage offers a memory/gel queen bed with 100% cotton sheets, down pillows, down comforter and 100% cotton towels. The space includes a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, microwave, toaster, blender, Keurig, French press, plates, glasses, silverware, stainless steel pots and pans. Just bring your groceries and pet food!
Wifi, 1 1/2 gig. The cottage is next to the West Arm Provincial Park, hiking and biking trails are all pet-friendly! A short walk to Kootenay Lake and a 5-minute drive to the beach (pet friendly). The cottage is close to Balfour, Nelson, Ainsworth Hot Springs, Kokanee Creek Provincial Park and spawning channels, Old Growth Forest and the Kokanee Glacier.

Definitely like Jurassic park with all the beautiful foliage everywhere. We could hear the sounds of the lake crashing in the morning, it was so peaceful. Loved the little camper, it was so cute & fit us nicely for the two nights we stayed. Having access to the paddle boards was definitely convenient, it would have been a bit challenging to walk up / down the stairs to the lake. Another family was staying at the beach house but you’d never know it - there’s so much space & privacy. Babs was very sweet & recommended the local outdoor artisan market. Found several treasures to take home to the kids.

We had a lovely stay. The property was beautiful with easy beach access down the stairs from the camper. The space was clean and well equipped, with a comfortable bed. Crystal clear water down at the beach where there were paddleboards, kayaks and a cedar strip canoe to choose from along with a shady gazebo.

It’s a perfect place for those who appreciate a combination of absolute privacy, amazing nature and well organized thoughtful rest. We found ourselves at a quiet, beautiful and well-maintained camp site.
We enjoyed a campfire with kindly chopped free wood in a handy and safe fire pit. The BBQ grill was clean and functional . Our son thrilled himself with the variety of darts and a hammock. A special thank you to the hosts for a sink with running water which contributed to our comfort.
The geodesic dome had a lot of conveniences such as a comfortable bed, batteries for charging devices, a diesel heater, pots and utensils, etc. We were lucky to observe a starring night sky through the windows on the ceiling.
My family and I were so impressed that we have already booked another few days in August.

1 night at Creston Valley Geodesic Dome & Camp
They weren’t kidding about the dirt road entrance, but the place was WORTH IT! You need 4 wheel drive/a high vehicle to get in and out. The campsite was a large secluded area with the dome, a fire pit, bbq, netted gazebo, pioneer house, disk golf, and a cute and clean outhouse. The dome was warm and dry and outfitted with a keurig, diesel heater, solar charging station, and many extra blankets. They provided clean water and firewood. This place would have been great for a larger group of campers to share. The bed was a little hard, but it was better than an air mattress. We highly recommend!

Serene spot with a nice trickling stream going through the back portion providing a beautiful ambience at all times without being too loud. The cabin is cozy and protects well from the elements. The outdoor camp kitchen counter/sink is a nice touch. The shower gets hot on sunny days, as its solar powered. Works great. Ideal for couples or single child family.

My partner and I adored our experience at Craig's a-frame cabin. Directions from Hipcamp were accurate which was helpful since you lose service along the short drive up a mountain road to the cabin. Craig was there to greet us, and had already chopped some wood for our stay, he was very nice, responsive and helpful.
The a-frame lodge was adorable, well maintained and quite roomy, with a decent sized bed, dining table, and wood burning fire place, inside was overall a cozy vibe.
Outside the cabin was serene - there is a stream running right beside it, with a densely forested landscape. Even with others staying close by its well secluded and quiet.
Our only complaint is that their dogs didn't come up to visit us!

The cabin is a charming retreat in the middle of the forest, very private and quiet. There’s a creek right beside it, allowing you to hear the sound of running water all the time, which is very relaxing. Next to the creek, there’s also a little bench where you can enjoy wonderful meals.
We were lucky to visit during raspberry season, as the place is surrounded by them, we even ate a few.
The cabin is cozy and has musical instruments, so if you have this talent, you definitely won’t get bored. The bathroom is just a few steps away, as is the shower.

Beautiful location! The Geodome was a neat experience! Ryan provided us with everything we needed and was very helpful making sure we had a great stay! Communications with Ryan were easy and he quickly answered any questions we had. Had an absolutely incredible weekend with my brother and our friends. The geodome was so cool, and the prospectors cabin was awesome! The wood stove kept us cozy while it rained.
