Enjoy camping on our 25-acre property just outside of Cranbrook, BC!
We have multiple spots to choose from. You can camp beside the creek, in an open field, or up high with beautiful views of the valley. It all depends on your preferences and the privacy that you desire.
We welcome tent and RV campers. If you're bringing an RV, there are sites that do not require levelling and we can accommodate vehicles up to 75ft in length.
Bring your animals - there are a lot of great spaces for them to play! Our yard is equipped for horseback riding with a horse ring and stable.
The property is a great step-off point for ATV, dirt bikes, horseback and hiking adventures.
Potable water, toilet, picnic table, wifi and showers are available.
Pets welcome, campfires permitted.

Wakita encompasses 25 acres of diverse wilderness and clearings. The land was developed in the 70's as an education, arts and health retreat and that history influences its atmosphere today.
A small mountain creek meanders past gardens, berry patches, rustic cabins and a stage. The land is peppered with Ancient burned out cedar trunks that stand as a testament to the wildfire that razed the valley and the town of Fernie in the early 1900's. If guests are interested in a tour we will show you our favorites!
Since Wakita borders on the wilderness of BC, we ask that our guests exercise common sense when it comes to food and fires. Upon arrival, we will provide information on the use of woodstoves, firepits, composting outhouses (for a-frame and campsites), etc.
Wakita is a 15 min drive from all of the amenities and adventure available in beautiful Fernie, BC. Explore further up our road and you will find the trailheads for popular hikes to Mount Hosmer, the Three Sisters and Heiko's trail.
Our Hipcamp accommodations consist of our glamping a-frame, an unserviced RV/tenting site and a fully serviced cabin. We look forward to being a part of your Fernie adventure!

It is 1 acre of pure natural and artistic bliss. The natural wonders include a massive beach with space for many, a gigantic sling shot, sweet fire pits, comfortable lawn chairs, paddle boards, kayaks, a cedar strip canoe, and many other toys free for you to explore. Please note that the Beach house guests have priority of the Gazebo but there are many spots/tables and parasols set up to enjoy all other spots on the beach.
My property has 2 rentals on it, the other is right on the beach called "Sweet beach house-edge of the water", in case you wanted to book both locations. There are also a couple of sites for extra guests to pitch a tent on for a fee.
Its like jurassic park here...very tropical and chill. The artful camper boasts of an outdoor spa and deck, BBQ, mini fridge, fantastic lake and mountain views and access to the beach from 9am-8pm. The other rental a.k.a. The beach-house comes with an attached outdoor 1950's style kitchen, oudoor on demand shower, outhouse, fire pits, lawn chairs, and free use of water vessels. It is located steps from the water. Truly magical.

The cabin in incredible but the outdoor 1950’s inspired kitchen will blow your mind. Stocked with the means to make a gourmet meal, you will want to use more than just the BBQ.

We have been to many camping sites this summer but none of them stood out like this. Many campsites claim to private, but this site truly delivers, not only are they completely private but they are gorgeous, right next to the creek (where wildlife flourished) and the sites are huge. The shower and flushing toilet was a really nice touch.
Cornelius and Angela were super attentive host, very welcoming and easy to talk to, always making sure we were happy and set up. There 2 dogs Murphy and Fergus were highlights of our day, when they would visit and patrol the campsites. I highly suggest purchasing wood through Cornelius best deal we have experienced so far in the area and with other campsites.
One thing to keep in mind accessibility will be best for confident drivers and/or trucks and 4 wheel drives. We made it down in a 2 wheel drive civic comfortably but others may have some difficulty going down some of the steep rocky hills.
I recommend when putting the location into your maps not to put in the address but instead to use “Murphy Gold Creek Ranch” (works on apple and google maps) and it will direct you straight there, when we put in the address it didn’t take us all the way. Once there, the signage to the camp is quite clear, with a hip camp logo which really helps.
This is a truly special place, and we have decided it’s our campsite of choice every year, it’s complete perfection.

We loved camping at this spot, one of the best camp trips we've ever had. Great, friendly hospitality from Dean and Debbie and everything you would need for a great camping experience, including chopped firewood, wifi and drinking water right by the site. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets as well, and a lovely lounge area for cooking/washing dishes/hanging out, we will definitely return again when possible!

Loved the campsite! Me and my friends had all of the spaces for us. Washroom is very accessible and big! would fit 2 people in the shower tbh. Everyone had fun for our 2 nights and 3 days stay. Lovely spot just outside of Cranbrook. Big sites, nicely spaced apart. Super fresh free-range eggs available that were so good! Highly recommend the sauna and a cold plunge in the creek. Loved that there is a washroom and shower available. Cornelius was an excellent host and made sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. The dogs Fergus and Murphy were very friendly too. Would definitely stay here again!

This place is stunning, surrainded by an amazing creek with a delicious swnming pool! My husband, my kid and I enjoyed the sauna and jump right on the swimming hole! Amazing experience. The place is si beatuful that we feel like on a wedding destination. Cornalius and Angela were so kind and attenptibe to our needs! Best eggs i ever are from the chicjem cube!! A must try!
If you are searching places, literal y stop and stay here!!!!
They even have a hike, isnt too long but it is stunning!!

Cornelius is a great host and the property is amazing. Beautiful views of the mountain and loads of privacy. Definitely recommend you have a sturdy car as the road gets bumpy. But worth the trip.
