The retreat is nestled into the banks of the Clearwater River in the centre of town, walking distance to stores, restaurants, farmer's market, and the beautiful Dutch Lake. Clearwater BC is the gateway to Wells Gray Provincial Park which is home to over 40 named waterfalls, more than 200 kms of trail systems, exciting wildlife, and rich history. We are located 130 kms North from Kamloops in the heart of the Thompson Valley and on route to Jasper National Park. In the summer, there is an abundance of outdoor recreation activities. Whitewater rafting is our most popular activity by leaps and bounds! There is also swimming, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, paragliding, jet boat tours, canoeing, kayaking, and mountain biking to name a few. We also have a vibrant farmer's market with fresh and local grown and made items. There is music in the park, car shows, kayak festival, and so much more! Positives: Great wifi, pristine washrooms/showers, site 4 nice river view, friendly/helpful hosts who allowed us a late checkout so we could ride the bike trails before leaving, happily charged the trailer and filled up the water tank before heading back off grid. Slight negative: a little close to the road (but did not disturb sleep), sites have no privacy from each other, expensive (but our views are warped as we had been camping for free/$7.50/max of $35 per night till this point and this was our treat/regroup/check emails/refill/repower night)

What an absolutely spectacular property. We parked our motor home on one of the 4 full hook up sites. It's right on the river with a little private beach. So clean and so lovely. I would highly recommend staying here. A cute little town too.

The campsite is in a beautiful location, especially site 4 where we were, with a view of the river. Everyone has their privacy. Everything is very well maintained and the washrooms are always clean. We really appreciated the shower mat. Thank you for suggesting activities for us to do. We went rafting with Liquid Lifestyles Whitewater Rafting. They were very good and knowledgeable! And Clearwater is also a truly magnificent place!

Lovely spot by the river, saw osprey before brekkie! Very clean toilet/shower block with fantastic showers. Would recommend as a great base for exploring Wells Gray and whitewater rafting.

Great little site by the river. Only 8 RV places and we weee the only RV there during our stay. The washrooms were outstanding. They were clean and well equipped. Fully serviced site with a beautiful beach across the road and a lake that you can swim in. There is a discount on the white water rafting down the road if you are staying at this site. Enquire with the owner.

We had a fabulous 2 nights in our RV here. The location next to river was beautiful, the showers were great and it was a lovely change away from larger campgrounds. We had an amazing time white water rafting and visiting waterfalls and swimming in Dutch Lake which was a short walk away. Highly recommended. We wish we had planned to stay for longer

Second time here and I hope to keep coming back! Didn't have any issues on the roads with my SUV. the campsite is perfectly maintained and close to the outhouse. There was some firewood there for us. The river area had lots of tall grass but totally worth it for the private beach!! Tons of raspberry bushes and we even found some blueberries! Its the only beach I can take my dogs to as they're fearful of stranger dogs and we love coming here so much!!

Had a great boondocking stay at Shelagh’s Fern Gully campsite: clean, oh so blessedly quiet and private with a lovely walk down to the river and adjacent access to Clearwater/Wells Grey Park. I highly recommend if you camp self-sufficient.

If you are looking for a rustic hideaway in the woods, this is your spot. The site is a cozy nook off of the shared road, and you will feel like the only people on earth. The little outhouse is an unexpected plus! There are train tracks, with frequent trains, however there was no whistle, so it didn’t bother us at all. I wouldn’t recommend the road in, with a small car.

My husband and I stayed here with our 3 boys and doggo. We loved the spot, it was so private, very close to wells gray for hiking and we felt completely immersed in nature. There was even your very own outhouse that made our stay that much more comfortable. We enjoyed the short hike down to the river and got to watch a bear on the other side catching his dinner. The site is close to the train tracks so you frequently have the noise of trains going by, but we didn’t mind it at all. The ground is slightly sloped, but not terribly…just make sure to pitch your tent so your heads uphill. We enjoyed our stay overall and would definitely return. Thank you Shelagh for hosting us!

Fantastic stay I received great directions from the owner and was warned about the road ahead of time. The site itself is private and large - and the new outhouse is a nice feature. Our favorite part was the private beach - we stayed there so long we didn't have time for our itinerary at Wells Gray!

What a lovely place. Backed up to the Clearwater River in the shade with full hookups. What a lovely place to stay. Hearing the river all night a bonus. The bathrooms were spectacular! Super clean, spacious, lots of hooks, a seat and bath mats!!! Hiking, swimming, and rafting all nearby… next time we will stay longer!!
