Our 160-acre regenerative agriculture family farm came to be in May of 2021. After previously homesteading on a humble 1-acre property our family had dreams of owning more land where we could establish a farm to call home for many years to come and farm in ways that would be sustainable for generations to follow.
Upon first look, the heart and soul that the original owners poured into this property shone like the sun glaring on the water of the river. We knew this was the perfect place to call home for our growing family, and a place so beautiful we could not wait to share it with others.

Collin’s Wood is a very special place indeed. The land was bought by my grandfather years ago when he moved to Canada from England and wanted to chase his log cabin dream. Our main cabin my family built from trees on the land, entirely by hand. We have photos of the trees being cut and the bark being peeled off. Since then, we’ve made many changes out there, we now have a guest cabin that used to be a Teacheridge (back when teachers would live in a one room building beside the school), eventually it was turned into a cafe and now it sits on our land as a guest cabin. This place is so magical. With a quarter section of land I grew up running through the forest with my friends and learning about what the land has to offer. My parents have spent every spare weekend out there making this paradise into what it is today. All the buildings were created by my family through labour and love. Beautiful spot! Very close to the water, beautiful trails, and very peaceful. Drank my tea and watched birds and deer hang around me. Camped here in the fall, will for sure be back in the summer.

Weekend Trip to Collinswood Retreat
Staying in Poppy was a very pleasant experience! We arrived late, in the dark. We were struggling to find our spot (albeit, I did not look at the instructions carefully). Pat came to find us at the entrance, and helped escort us to our stay.
They also provided some extra water (due to the water line being shut off because of cold temps) a heater and some heating bottles to keep us warm. The location is very beautiful, with some cool amenities available throughout the grounds.
All in all, Geri & Pat are very welcoming, thoughtful and we would love to rent out the whole grounds in the future!

Weekend Trip to Collinswood Retreat
Loved poppy bus, had a great experience living in here as it is my dream to eventually do this. Enjoyed how there was so many hiking trails everywhere. We spent an hour or more looking and exploring. The whole place here is so much to take in. I especially loved interacting with the friendly horses. I plan to bring my extended family next spring.

We really enjoyed camping here for our friends 30th! The bus was really awesome and a great theme for a little weekend getaway. For the second time this year an amazing stay at the Hideaway, made even better by host Gordon who kindly left a propane fire pit for us to use during the fire ban, lots of wildlife to be seen and the vintage trucks and farm equipment are a great touch on the walking trails, and to top it off a private fishing spot with picturesque views at the rocky lockout trail, we will be back next year.

This was my second time camping here and I think it’s officially my favourite campground. :) Geri and Pat are so welcoming, plus the sites are private with beautiful surroundings. This morning I saw the horses coming through the property too which was a huge bonus! With the Bowden Sunmaze close by, not to mention that this site comes with a bundle of firewood and water, I can’t recommend this place enough. With winter coming soon I hope to plan a weekend in the treehouse or other buildings soon!

The sites and amenities were exactly as shown and explained on the website. We enjoyed the solitude and quietness of the site not always found in the common campground arrangement. There are some hiking trails nearby at the Crimson Lake provincial park that we enjoyed as well as taking time to read, relax and shell peanuts, once we got back to our site. Our hosts were very accommodating! We stayed at Woodbend for the night. It came with a bundle of wood, campfire pit, hammock and an abundance of property to explore! There is so much to see while walking around from the horses to the unique cottage/sleeping accommodations!
I would recommend their place to anyone who is looking for a beautiful place to unwind while travelling!

Loved how much space there was so I could pick the perfect place for my tent and the seclusion from the other two sites.
The only negative was I arrived on a Sunday and there were quite a few people, who parked in the parking area, that were just using the beach and they came in and used the porta potty which ment it was extremely full for the first day. It was emptied after that
but I had read other reviews so I was prepared and had brought my own.
I would definitely go back.
