Collin’s Wood is a very special place indeed. The land was bought by my grandfather years ago when he moved to Canada from England and wanted to chase his log cabin dream. Our main cabin my family built from trees on the land, entirely by hand. We have photos of the trees being cut and the bark being peeled off. Since then, we’ve made many changes out there, we now have a guest cabin that used to be a Teacheridge (back when teachers would live in a one room building beside the school), eventually it was turned into a cafe and now it sits on our land as a guest cabin. This place is so magical. With a quarter section of land I grew up running through the forest with my friends and learning about what the land has to offer. My parents have spent every spare weekend out there making this paradise into what it is today. All the buildings were created by my family through labour and love. We’ve hosted weddings, and family reunions. We hope you appreciate how special this place is. Come see for yourself!

For the second time this year an amazing stay at the Hideaway, made even better by host Gordon who kindly left a propane fire pit for us to use during the fire ban, lots of wildlife to be seen and the vintage trucks and farm equipment are a great touch on the walking trails, and to top it off a private fishing spot with picturesque views at the rocky lockout trail, we will be back next year.

This is, I believe, my fourth stay! It's a magical place that I look forward to visit every year. The Happy Hut and Treehouse are so cozy, every little detail is thought of and you are looked after so well! Loved how much space there was so I could pick the perfect place for my tent and the seclusion from the other two sites. The only negative was I arrived on a Sunday and there were quite a few people, who parked in the parking area, that were just using the beach and they came in and used the porta potty which ment it was extremely full for the first day. It was emptied after that but I had read other reviews so I was prepared and had brought my own. I would definitely go back.

It’s a great site with tree cover that provides more privacy but a very short distance to the beach. Gordon was very quick with replies and very accommodating! The extras of firewood delivered to the campsite is a great feature as well. We had a fantastic time, there are also trails around the site as well to walk in nature. An amazing little hideaway ❤️ will definitely stay again.

My husband and our two dogs had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful campsite, and I couldn't be more grateful for the experience. The host was absolutely fantastic!! Great communication and very friendly throughout our stay. We appreciated the recommendation and opportunity to explore the trails which were stunning!! It made our trip even more memorable! The area itself is breathtaking, peaceful, relaxing, and surrounded by natural beauty. The campsite was well-maintained and had everything we needed for a comfortable and serene stay. Gordon was an amazing host! He went out of his way to make sure we felt comfortable and taken care of throughout our stay. His kindness and attention to detail really stood out. 3 nights at Collinswood Retreat

Absolutley amazing. Lovely little place to escape life. We stayed in the treehouse and also used the sauna which is a real finish sauna, gets very hot. Highly reccomend trying out. The outdoor shower does get very warm-hot water but the grate on the fence is a bit low so bring towels to cover if you need extra privacy. The toilet by the treehouse is an outhouse so I reccommend walking the short distance to the composting toilet, especially for using #2. Didnt have the time to use the bath but it looked absolutely lovely. We did walk the red lantern trail, but beware its easier to get lost in the trails as the markings stop after a little while so take a photo of the map. The treehouse itsself has a very comfy bed. It is quite small inside so dont pack alot. second bed is a folding futon, all bedding is provided. They also have your first bundle of wood free, and there is a jug of drinking water and a jug for cleaning water (non potable), also lots of dishes, and cooking ware, an ax, kettle stove, small BBQ, and fire pit, they have some seasonings and oil if you forget yours. There is a Cheap COOP store 10 minutes away as well, and cheap wood in the area too (also you can get wood from the hipcamp extras tab). There are horses on the property who wander freely so you need to be diligent about closing all gates. They also have garbage bins that are bear safe but you do need to secure your food in your car. There are also some frisbee golf and board games to play. Will be back!!
