Collin’s Wood is a very special place indeed. The land was bought by my grandfather years ago when he moved to Canada from England and wanted to chase his log cabin dream. Our main cabin my family built from trees on the land, entirely by hand. We have photos of the trees being cut and the bark being peeled off. Since then, we’ve made many changes out there, we now have a guest cabin that used to be a Teacheridge (back when teachers would live in a one room building beside the school), eventually it was turned into a cafe and now it sits on our land as a guest cabin. This place is so magical. With a quarter section of land I grew up running through the forest with my friends and learning about what the land has to offer. My parents have spent every spare weekend out there making this paradise into what it is today. All the buildings were created by my family through labour and love. We’ve hosted weddings, and family reunions. We hope you appreciate how special this place is. Come see for yourself!

At Hillwinds House, it’s all about taking a moment to disconnect from your busy life and reconnect with nature. We are excited to share our Alberta landscape with its beautiful sky, empty fields, and close up nature details. Hillwinds House is a cozy Nordic-inspired cabin located on the edge of the Meeting Creek valley. The cabin is nestled in the trees on a 5 acre piece of land. The cabin is completely off-grid with a wood burning stove inside to keep it warm. The kitchenette has everything you need to prepare meals: a gas stovetop, sink with gravity water faucet, and a YETI cooler stocked with ice packs to keep your food cool. To access the king sized bed in the loft, a sturdy ladder must be climbed (see photo). Loft and ladder are “use at your own risk.” A wood burning sauna is located just steps from the main house. Walk out on the wrap-around deck and light the fire in the sauna to get your sweat on. During the winter months, a snow bath is recommended for refreshment. (it feels so good!) We also have a handheld shower to rinse off with after the sauna. A wood-burning hot tub bathing area is available for bookings from May to October, and no hot tub is available in the winter months when it is too cold to change the water for each guest. There is a dry flush toilet inside the cabin (in its own bathroom) so there’s no need to freeze your butt off in an outhouse. Sanitary wipes and hands sanitizer are conveniently located in the bathroom with the wash basin in the nearby kitchen. As a guest at Hillwinds House, you will have full access to the entire 5 acre property. Enjoy the spacious deck with valley views, sit in the sauna at dusk and watch the wildlife walk by. (deer, white rabbits, moose, and coyotes) Put on your snow boots or skis and enjoy the trail that winds down the side of the hill towards the Meeting Creek townsite. When you book a stay at the cabin, we’ll send you a welcome booklet with a list of our favourite places to go and things to do locally. We’ll be a few miles away on our farm if you need anything during your stay at Hillwinds House.

At Hillwinds House, it’s all about taking a moment to disconnect from your busy life and reconnect with nature. Build a fire, read a book, brew some coffee, sweat in the sauna, prepare a nourishing meal, and watch the sun set over the valley in the west. We are excited to share our Alberta landscape with its beautiful sky, empty fields, and close up nature details. Hillwinds House is a cozy Nordic-inspired cabin located on the edge of the Meeting Creek valley. The cabin is nestled in the trees on a 5 acre piece of land. The cabin is completely off-grid with a wood burning stove inside to keep it warm. The kitchenette has everything you need to prepare meals: a gas stovetop, sink with gravity water faucet, and a YETI cooler stocked with ice packs to keep your food cool. To access the king sized bed in the loft, a sturdy ladder must be climbed (see photo). Loft and ladder are “use at your own risk.” A wood burning sauna is located just steps from the main house. Walk out on the wrap-around deck and light the fire in the sauna to get your sweat on. During the winter months, a snow bath is recommended for refreshment. (it feels so good!) We also have a handheld shower to rinse off with after the sauna. A wood-burning hot tub bathing area is available for bookings from May to October, and no hot tub is available in the winter months when it is too cold to change the water for each guest. There is a dry flush toilet inside the cabin (in its own bathroom) so there’s no need to freeze your butt off in an outhouse. Sanitary wipes and hands sanitizer are conveniently located in the bathroom with the wash basin in the nearby kitchen. As a guest at Hillwinds House, you will have full access to the entire 5 acre property. Enjoy the spacious deck with valley views, sit in the sauna at dusk and watch the wildlife walk by. (deer, white rabbits, moose, and coyotes) Put on your snow boots or skis and enjoy the trail that winds down the side of the hill towards the Meeting Creek townsite. When you book a stay at the cabin, we’ll send you a welcome booklet with a list of our favourite places to go and things to do locally. We’ll be a few miles away on our farm if you need anything during your stay at Hillwinds House.

Welcome to Rocky Mountain Escape Dome & Log Cabin Rentals near Rock Lake Alberta !! We are available all year round. Rock Lake Provincial Park. 70km NW of the nearest town (Hinton). You will enjoy peace in quiet in this remote, private, and off-grid location. Our cabins are in a forested area surrounded by mountains. Set apart amongst the trees for privacy. Savour the sound of silence and smell the trees. Beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing at night! Rock Lake is only 7km from the camp where you can enjoy awe-inspiring views of Alberta's Northern Rockies while fishing, boating, mountain biking or hiking. There is no TV, wifi, or cell service. Each cabin has indoor plumbing, toilet, shower, hot and cold running water and a wood-burning stove. All cooking is done on the deck of the cabin using a griddle. Propane supplied. All firewood, kindling, bed linens, towels, pots/pans/cutlery included. Please note, a 4WD vehicle is recommended to access the site. Sub-Alpine area in front ranges of Alberta Rockies. My partner and I absolutely loved the cabin. Beautiful details, comfortable bed, nice touches and everything you need to set up a little camp kitchen on the porch. The property is beautiful, the cabin is surrounded by trees. The little outhouse is very cute and does not smell like an outhouse because of the composting toilet. It even has a bag shower. I wish we could have stayed longer, I hope we'll be back!

Forest Glen Yurt is our answer to the requested "remote" site at Collinswood Retreat. Tucked in the woods close to the walking trails, this site is WALK IN, so pack only the essentials! There will be a wagon to assist you on the 10 minute walk from the parking area to the yurt as needed. Onsite there is an outhouse, BBQ, fire pit & food storage locker.

Arriving on this land, I felt a sense of peace roll through me. My girlfriends and I stayed in the Tipi. It was magical. The grounds are immaculately kept. We were very spoiled with the washroom facilities as well as the outdoor kitchen. The beds were extremely comfortable with soft linen and warm blankets. The host did not miss any details to help us feel comfortable and met all of our amenity needs. The sunrise and sunsets were beautifully held on the horizon. Nature was all around us, including the cows and beautiful majestic white bull. All of the gardens and flower beds held details and surprises. Dragonflies were everywhere! A short distance away, we visited Chip Lake. Here we were able to have a drumming ceremony as well as enjoy some paddle boarding. The water was not conducive to us swimming in it, as it is shallow and appears to have a vast ecosystem. We did travel 30 minutes up the highway to the Pambina river and enjoyed a refreshing cool off. I would highly recommend visiting this site. I have full intentions of gathering my whole tribe of friends for a full weekend next year.

The brush really filled in compared to our stay back in May. The hosts were just as nice, friendly and responsive as our first stay. Absolutley amazing. Lovely little place to escape life. We stayed in the treehouse and also used the sauna which is a real finish sauna, gets very hot. Highly reccomend trying out. The outdoor shower does get very warm-hot water but the grate on the fence is a bit low so bring towels to cover if you need extra privacy. The toilet by the treehouse is an outhouse so I reccommend walking the short distance to the composting toilet, especially for using #2. Didnt have the time to use the bath but it looked absolutely lovely. We did walk the red lantern trail, but beware its easier to get lost in the trails as the markings stop after a little while so take a photo of the map. The treehouse itsself has a very comfy bed. It is quite small inside so dont pack alot. second bed is a folding futon, all bedding is provided. They also have your first bundle of wood free, and there is a jug of drinking water and a jug for cleaning water (non potable), also lots of dishes, and cooking ware, an ax, kettle stove, small BBQ, and fire pit, they have some seasonings and oil if you forget yours. There is a Cheap COOP store 10 minutes away as well, and cheap wood in the area too (also you can get wood from the hipcamp extras tab). There are horses on the property who wander freely so you need to be diligent about closing all gates. They also have garbage bins that are bear safe but you do need to secure your food in your car. There are also some frisbee golf and board games to play. Will be back!!
