Magical Riverside Farm Camping
Our camping trip at River Valley Farm was absolutely magical. We had a mixed group of 3 adults and 3 kids (age 7, 11, and 14). Everyone loved the farm camping with the wonderful swinging bridge. The river was slow-moving and a perfect depth for kids swimming. The fishing was absolutely excellent- our fishermen caught a variety of fish including a handful of very large smallmouth bass. To get to the river from the campsite, there was a trail cut out of the weeds that we walked along to a beautiful little shelly beach. We were the only campers when we stayed, so we spread out along all the campsites. The fire pit was in the grassy, forested riverbank area so we built another fire pit beside the water on the beach.
This site offers a backcountry camping feeling. We saw many creatures including a blue heron, a cicada, and a wolf spider. There is absolutely no cellular service or Wi-Fi, so prepare to be off the grid. The swinging bridge is sturdy, used daily by the kind owner of the farm, David. We all loved the bridge but someone afraid of heights might not. It was a bit slippery in the rain, so bring shoes with grip. We stayed in July, and there were wasps hanging out in the outhouse (near site 4). We ended up mostly using our portable toilet.
There was a magical white farm dog on site who befriended our kids and guarded our camp.
We adored this campsite. Our kids will cherish the experience for a lifetime. Thanks to David for sharing this magical spot with us!
