We have 245 acres with an area of bushland and other lovely areas with scattered trees, plus some open areas.
Currently we have a choice of camping areas for caravans and tents, some nestled in amongst the tree line. Other areas alongside the dam. We keep all the camping areas slashed for safety and to allow easier access to find a suitable camping spot.
We also have a hut available in the bush area. This hut is secluded and has its own outdoor private toilet.
There is no shower, electricity or fresh water available, however we do have a flush toilet at the camping and caravan site. Campers would need to be self-sufficient otherwise.
Please note we don't allow motorbikes, Quads or firearms on the property and there are no exceptions, sorry.
We run sheep on our property and have wildlife such as kangaroos, wombats and echidnas. We also have farm animals such as cows, horses, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, geese, and dogs. We have 8 dams, 3 of which have fish as well as yabbies throughout the year.
Fire pits located in designated areas and only to used during non fire ban periods and to be supervised at all times.
We're happy for you to bring your dog however you would be required to keep it under your control or on a leash and away from the sheep.
No motor bikes, quads, firearms permitted and no exceptions.
No diving off jetty

Water, dams, firepits, bushwalking and all areas can be dangerous.

Guests have access to two communal composting toilets and a warm shower.

The cottage is accessed via a tree-lined driveway from Towrang Road which is fully sealed to the Hume Highway.
The current owner has stocked the farm with ‘rescued’ animals which she has nursed back to health, including farm animals and retired racehorses. Her care for the animals has made them friendly to visitors who can interact and care for them during their stay, providing a complete farm life experience for all the family!
Children and guests love petting or feeding the sheep, horses, geese, and chickens and doing some daily farm chores during their stay – including collecting the free-range eggs for breakfast locking up the chooks for the evening, and letting them out in the morning. The resident cat is also friendly to children.
In season there is plenty of fresh fruit to be picked in the orchard and the dam is stocked with trout. (Fishing rods are supplied – catch your own dinner!)
The homestead itself is spacious and equipped with all the conveniences for your stay. Three queen bedrooms cater for up to 6 guests, with a sofa lounge sleeping another two.
A fully stocked pantry in the large country kitchen has basic provisions – all you need to bring is the food for your meals.
There are lots of places in the garden and the wrap-around verandah to sit and relax plus a gas barbecue and table settings for al fresco meals.

Step out of the city and onto this working produce farm. Accommodation is rustic and basic as opposed to four star but the air is fresh and the stars are a work of art. Come and enjoy the tranquillity.
As a way of introduction, some basic housekeeping information about our cabin …. Firstly this is a working farm, so accommodation is rustic and basic as opposed to four star. Our bathroom facilities are an outside shower and composting toilet about a 20m walk from the cabin but the bonus is we have just had instant hot water installed and the shower is steaming hot. There is a hand basin outside the cabin with cold running water for drinking and washing. We will always leave a torch in the cabin for your use, for those late night adventures! For your convenience there is a refrigerator, microwave, kettle, drinkware, cutlery and plates. Linen and towels are provided and the fridge will be stocked with milk and cold water. There is no hot and cold running water inside the cabin however as I mentioned the hand basin outside will provide cold water for hand washing, teeth cleaning etc.
Animals roam free on the property and the cabin overlooks our dam where the ducks and geese take their families to swim.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a working farm and business and we do have a dam in close proximity to the cabin; this is NOT fully fenced, so please be aware that is it your sole responsibility to supervise your children at all times – animals are also freely wandering the grounds in the way of chooks, alpacas, sheep, goats, geese and dogs (we have 8 rescue dogs of all shapes and sizes), so please be aware that free range is just that, again supervision will be required. Adequate footwear for children would be an advantage as the walking tracks can be rutted after bad weather and working farm means dirt and animal poop (just to add to the fun) so obviously safety is the best prevention.
We'd love to show you our little part of the world and welcome you to our home.
We welcome lots of interaction with the animals and there is a big open fire that you can sit around and toast marshmallows and chat or a smaller one outside the cabin to take in the fresh air and the canvas of stars.

Weekend Trip to The Hideaway Oberon
Amazing place, felt like a proper North American log cabin. Lots of options for cooking including a full barbecue. The hot shower was pretty impressive for a homemade job.
I'd echo what other reviewers have said about 4wd or AWD. We took my 2wd paddock basher in and made it but not recommended as we needed to walk about 200m with our stuff. Annabelle very upfront about it which we appreciated.

What a beautiful spot for an unplugged weekend - a big stand out for us was how clean the cabin, toilet and shower all were, it felt like a little piece of luxury. Love that the place is pet friendly - my old greyhound set up on the veranda of the cabin and seemed to have a lovely time enjoying watching the world pass by. I would recommend ensuring you have a 4WD for the driveway access. Thank you for having us Annabelle, we’d love to come back again and experience a cosy winter weekend here.

Camps are spread out & there are flushing toilets at them all or close by
We had the bush shack for the weekend with camping around it… was amazing with all of what you need to enjoy a weekend away

It's a beautiful place and worth the drive.
Be sure to pack food that you can cook or put in the fridge or heat.
There's 2 patches of road towards the end that are a bit rough but nothing my tiny MG couldn't handle.
It's a great place. Lots of other things to do as well like pool, billiard, table tennis. Shared bathroom area is very very close and very convenient. Plenty of water.
The help there is a pure gentleman and happy to help off times as well. It was a great trip overall.

We didn’t end up getting to stay at the cabin as we couldn’t get into the drive way. Would definitely recommend taking a four wheel drive if you are going after rain. Annabelle was lovely and did everything she could to help but it just didn’t work out. So would definitely recommend Annabelle as she was friendly, kind and helpful.

Weekend Trip to The Hideaway Oberon
The perfect hideaway!! We had a lovely weekend and saw so much wildlife. It was so nice to dip our feet in the stream on a warm sunny day. And the shower was luxury when it was chilly in the evening! The cabin was so cosy and comfy. Would definitely recommend, and hope to come back one day. Next time will have to bring binoculars to watch the birds. Thank you Annabelle and Drew.

Weekend Trip to The Hideaway Oberon
We absolutely loved our weekend away to the cabin! It was extremely cold, but the fire pit and the indoor fireplace definitely helped.
It’s a lovely location, beautiful night sky, and you feel completely isolated.
We had a few issues with our car and the hosts were extremely helpful, Even coming to tow us out of trouble! Very friendly people and extremely helpful.
I recommend this stay to anyone looking for a little escape, Just be prepared to collect a lot of firewood if you come during winter 😁

We loved camping at the Shack, even with some very chilly weather we were able to enjoy a roaring fire to warm us up. Sunset on the top of the hill was fantastic as well.
