The Camp - Wave Rock Short Stay is located 2 km from the Hyden town site and 2 km from Wave Rock. Both locations are easily accessible by car or by using the walking/cycling trail. To access the walking trail please head back to Aylmore Road, turn right and when you reach the intersection cross the highway to meet the walking/cycling trail. Left will take you to town and right to Wave Rock. Please be mindful that our property neighbours a working sheep and cropping farm. Wave Rock is a granite cliff 15 metres high and 110 metres long. It’s rounded-like shape has been caused by weathering and water erosion which has undercut the base and left a rounded overhang. Water from the springs running down the rock during wetter months dissolves minerals adding to the colouring of the wave. In 1960, crystals from Hyden Rock were dated at being 2700 million years old, which are amongst the oldest in Australia. A 15 minute drive north of Wave Rock you will see a “giant” lurching out of the bushland. This massive granite rock formation is known as the Humps – grab your hat, sun screen and water bottle and explore! Be sure to visit Mulka's Cave. The name “Mulka” comes from an Aboriginal Legend associated with the cave. As you enter the cave (take a few moments for your eyes to adjust) and look at the walls and note the many hand stencils believed to representing adults and children. Close to Lake Magic, a large local salt lake, Denis Collins constructed a 20m round, 6m deep swimming pool-like gypsum pond whose buoyancy and therapeutic properties are greater than those of the Dead Sea.

Wave Rock Short Stay is a family-owned and operated business offering a range of accommodation options.  The Camp, located 1.5km from the township of Hyden, is nestled in 16ha of bushland is adjacent to The Silos accommodation.  We offer 16 large unpowered nature-based campsites with access to potable water and disability accessible toilet (no shower). If you like camping under the woodlands, clear sky and being surrounded by nature then, The Camp is your destination! All sites are generous in their size, no one likes to hear their neighbours snoring!  All sites are unpowered and we provide flushable toilets only! Your site number will be allocated to you when we send your booking confirmation. This was a great short stay. The sunset was spectacular. The toilets were clean although there is a friendly spider (not dangerous at all) but was, I admit a little off-putting. Chloe is very organised and made sure she spaced people/ cars out although the sites are very spacious. It is very convenient for both Hyden and Wave Rock.

One of the only options available in town given how small Hyden is but definitely does the job! Multiple sites set up in a circle with a 2-toilet block set up with a small sink for washing dishes (no hot water). We had to change our plans last minute and Chloe was kind enough to accommodate for a change in our booking date. Located across the road from the Wave Rock entrance and a short 2min drive from town centre. Highly recommend checking out the local pool in town if you're looking for something to do on top of Wave Rock. We stopped over on our way back to Perth from Esperance to split up the drive and are glad we did.

Perfect little stop on the way to Wave Rock. Amenities although basic were just what we needed and did the job. No two camps were on top of each other and each site was nicely sized meaning there was plenty of space for everything. Its the perfect location for heading off to Wave Rock early the next morning.

A well-kept campsite walking distance to the town of Hyden and a lovely walk with a pathway (3km) to Wave Rock. The facilities (toilet & bins), were neat and tidy, but I did feel sorry for the camper placed close by as the banging of the doors when closed or opened would have been annoying. The campsite is very close to the road, although seperated by a line of vegetation and a wire fence. As a result, in a tent, you can hear trucks passing all night, which does affect sleep quality. Perhaps ear plugs would be recommended. It's not obviously on acreage that is open to exploring. There are a lot of instructions indicating fines about picking up after your dog or dog off leash - $50/instance, but not a lot of signage about where on the property is open to exploring. I'm assuming none. However, it was neat and tidy and well located proximity wise

Site is fine if you're there with an RV or camper. The ground is very compacted so difficult to hammer in tent pegs, with little overhead cover when it rains. Amenities are kept very clean, with a good sized sink for cleaning dishes etc. Unsure if water is potable though. It's nice and close to town with a bit of road noise from trucks which isn't bad if you're in a car or caravan.
