We stayed here recently with our horses after booking through Hipcamp, but unfortunately, our experience wasn’t as welcoming as we’d hoped. When we arrived, the host acted as though he wasn’t aware of our booking, even though he was able to reference our earlier messages throughout the year. Despite showing him the full conversation history confirming our stay, he said we’d “sprung it on him” and mentioned that he would have charged more if he’d known we were coming.
While the spot itself was perfectly fine — quiet and suitable for the horses — the interaction left us feeling quite uncomfortable and unwelcome, as though our presence was an inconvenience. Because of this, we decided to leave the next morning rather than stay the full booking, just so we weren’t in the way.
It’s a lovely area and could be a great place to stay with clearer communication and a friendlier approach, but sadly our experience left a disappointing impression.
