Amazing and relaxing te by the lake

Gorgeous site right by the lake! Beautiful scenery on a clear sunny day, have some patience with the fishing, they are in there jumping around, we didn't catch any but was great for relaxing during the long Cup weekend. Mark was a great host showing us both sites and giving us the freedom to set up camp wherever we wanted. We had fantastic weather until it rained, then it was a bit treacherous driving and towing out of the muddy paddock (take it slow and steady), best to stay when the weather is forecasted or certain to be dry

Lovely quiet spot, secluded but with a dam, and a winter running creek. Sound of sheep and magpies and little else. Mark let us use the tin shed and we slept in there instead of erecting a tent. Plenty of wood around for a fire. Not too distant from Meredith and the Brisbane Ranges.

Mark's land was exactly what we needed to celebrate my dad's birthday. Mark was courteous enough to warn us about the wind the morning of our arrival. Regardless, the wind didn't stop us from making the most of his land which only got better the following days as the sun came out and the wind settled. No fish this time but we'll be sure to come back and try again. Thanks Mark for a great stay.

This was a great spot to relax and let our kids explore. They loved paddling the boat in the dam & the hut was a great addition. Mark was really helpful and supplied heaps of fire wood!

Trout Fishing Site
It is a beautiful property, the kids caught a massive trout. Unfortunately the winter weather was not on our side and it rained most of the weekend. We will definitely come back for another round during the warmer months.

Me and my 10 year old son just had a 2 night stay at this site and we absolutely loved it! When everywhere else over Easter would have been packed in like sardines, we had our very own off-grid bush camp with no one at all in our site. It's quite dry at the moment but it didn't stop my son catching 2 big rainbow trouts in the dam, the owner wasn't lying when he told us there's big ones in there! Mark was so welcoming and basically allowed us to setup camp where ever we liked within the areas he showed us and also gave us a bunch of things to see around the local area. Thank you for allowing us to stay on your property Mark, we will be back, and I hope everyone else respects your land just as we did and leave it the same way or better than when you arrive.

Great spot. Not far from Ballarat. Host was great and knowledgeable. Advise to contact host before getting there as google does not send you to the correct point.

Windy and damp but we’ll come back when the weather is a little more favourable! Lots of potential. Kids loved looking round the creek bed, and enjoyed the little boat on the dam. Thanks for the stay!

Relaxed family stay at Mark’s place

We really enjoyed our stay at Mark’s place. He noticed we had kids and kindly took us to a more secluded spot by a dam, complete with a small boat and kayaks for the kids, complete with life vests, ensuring safety for the kids.
The site is quite windy, which we should have expected given the nearby wind farms. Despite a dry season leaving the nearby creek empty and the dam levels low, son still managed to catch a trout, which was a nice surprise.
Just a heads up, the area can get very windy. Our tents nearly got away from us one night, so make sure you secure them well. It was great seeing sheep roam freely around the property, adding to the rural charm. If you’re a light sleeper, be aware of the local dogs barking at night and, if you stay during the Meredith festival like we did, you’ll hear music into the night.
Mark was incredibly welcoming; he even offered to show us a nearby gold mining site and runs the local general store, making our stay comfortable and connected. The spot might not be postcard-perfect, but its privacy and Mark’s hospitality make it a great choice for families looking for a peaceful getaway with Ballarat nearby.

We stayed on Australia Day weekend.
Mark met us on arrival and was very friendly and easy going. There are no fixed camping sites and Mark showed us around and gave us a couple of suggestions but we were free to set up anywhere.
He said he was happy to help if needed and to call anytime, we were quite content to just relax and didn't have to bother Mark for the weekend but is was good to know he was only a call away if needed.
There is a nice flat spot right at the edge of the larger dam that would provide a great view of the dam from your tent or from under your awning. There are trout in there but we didn't fish.
It is quite an exposed site with no cover from the wind but great if you want maximum sun for solar.
We chose a spot up on the corner of a paddock that gave us some cover from the wind with some trees. Still plenty of sun though and short walk to the dam.
Meridith is a short drive with a couple of good pub options.
In summary of you like some piece and quite and enjoy a laid-back camping style where you can pick a spot and be left to your devices, this is a good option.

A great camp spot by the little lake. Mark was great to communicate with and met us on arrival to drive us to our area.
Only 30 mins to Ballarat, this was a nice quiet spot and we loved having the sheep close by.

We had a lovely stay here. After being greeted and shown to our camp area by Mark, we enjoyed a very quiet and peaceful night by the dam and creek (although it is dry at the moment). My husband was excited to catch and release a large trout in the dam. I enjoyed watching the sunset over the farm. We went sunflower picking up the road at the Farmgate and did a few walks in the area.

Fantastic spacious site between large dam (with rowboat!) and seasonal creek. Set back from road to ensure privacy as well as peace and quiet. Mark is great host who immediately makes you feel welcome, even offering the lend of a fishing rod if needed.
Uninterrupted views over farmland with an occasional visit from curious sheep too. Highly recommend this camp for an easy getaway from Geelong, Ballarat or Melbourne.

We stayed here for my dad’s 60th, we loved getting away for a couple of nights without having to do a massive drive to get here. The spot we stayed had a bit of bush, an awesome creek. And everything we needed to have a good time. We were already discussing coming back again before we’d even left. Mark was great with his communication and very accommodating.
Only notes would be that you can hear dogs barking throughout the night and obviously the sheep as well, being in the middle of farmland. That didn’t bother us at all but could be something to keep in mind 👍
