Tarcool is set on 200 pristine acres, on the Avon River, bordering the Hendricks State Forest. We offer a lovely open grassy area for self-contained campers. The land is level, access is good, and it's just 50 metres from the riverbank, with access to beautiful swimming holes. There are wonderful 4wd tracks ,motorbike and bushwalking tracks to and throughout the State forest, a stonesthrow from camp. Well-behaved dogs are welcome! We are just 22km to Newry, Maffra, and Briagolong - all with great local pubs! Close to Glenmaggie Weir, hour and half from Dargo or Licola. You can float down from Wombat Crossing down to your camp site or Canoeing or just sit back in a deck chair watching your campfire with a great book. Avon River is fastest rising and falling river in the Southern hemisphereA beautiful wide camping area, exclusive to one group only, just a stonesthrow from the river. The land is level, and access is good. A fantastic spot for families or groups looking for some time in pure nature! The river has several gentle shores easing into the water, and some beautiful swimming holes to cool off. Strictly not using ground as a toilet and leaving toilet paper on property. All campers must be self-sufficient, with their own camp toilet, and we kindly ask you take all waste with you when you leave. There is a dedicated firepit you are welcome to use when conditions allow - please adhere to local fire restrictions. And a wood fired BBQ Next door sells firewood and from 1st march designated areas across the river up Mt Angus track are opened please check DEECAs website which area as fines are very hefty. Do not take firewood off property unless told. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and to be off-leash, but please ensure they do not hassle the cattle and sheep in the adjoining paddock, and are able to return to call. A beautiful wide camping area, exclusive to one group only, just a stonesthrow from the river. The land is level, and access is good. A great spot to stay, lovely surroundings, and had a beautiful river running through, that you can cool off in, in Summer. Hosts were very welcoming and very friendly dogs. we would definitely stay here again

Such a beautiful spot to camp either on your own or as a group, really private, which is how we like to camp. Hosts were really lovely country people. We will definitely be back to swim in the river again :)

We had a wonderful 19 day camp with our camper trailer at Tarcool . The camping area is comfortable, great fire pit and wood BBQ, beautiful swimming hole just down the bank with lots of native bush , birds and wildlife. Especially enjoyed seeing wombats of many sizes every nigh as well as wallabies on the hill side across the river. We also explored isone challenging 4WD tracks in the nearby forests Very relaxing ☺️ . Christine is a great host, very helpful and attentive.. Definitely worth a visit

Beautiful spot. Best HipCamp we’ve been to so far. Christine & her husband were amazing. They came down to check that all was ok and we appreciated their thoughtfulness. Will be back for sure!!

Had a great time at Tarcool. Christine is very responsive on messages and came to meet us on site to see what we needed. Site is large, flat and grassy with the river just down the hill. Clear and slow flowing water - great for a swim and just take it all in. Very peaceful and thoroughly enjoyed our stay

The hosts were absolutely amazing, made our stay extremely comfortable. The site was simple breathtaking and so quiet . Short stroll to the river and the water was crystal clear. Hosts provided a fire pit and a hot plate for cooking on. We did not want to leave the site , we loved it that much. No trees around where we put the van so making solar power was perfect. Our 2 dogs loved running around fully supervised as per hosts instructions. Site was level and was really easy to level the van our van is 21’6 and access easy . If you are staying and heavy rains occur I would recommend a 4wd to exit site as it is slightly up hill. To not tear up hosts property .

We had such an amazing 2 nights at Tom and Christine's little slice of paradise. They are both very accommodating and lovely people. Very private spot and the water was beautiful. 100% will be returning !

We loved our 2 nights at Tom and Christine’s camp site. They are very accomodating friendly hosts both coming to meet us, show us where we could get extra firewood if we ran out and Tom picked me and our son up one morning in their side by side to show us their sheep and lambs. Great spot for kids, the river is close but not that close your worried about kids all the time. Access to the property is easy and well explained. We got in with a 22ft van no worries. Thanks for having us, we will be back for sure

We absolutely loved camping at Christine's property! The camp site itself is a very private and grassed area with a very generous fire pit in the centre, and a short walk down a small hill takes you to a beautiful creek with the clearest water for swimming. There is enough room for the kids to ride around on the quad bike or kick the footy around to each other. Thank you to Christine's husband Tom for dropping off a couple of huge stumps for us for the fire! Cannot reccomend this camp site enough, it's absolutely beautiful, thank you Christine and Tom! What a perfect spot to camp ! Right on the river and being the only campsite makes it very special. The hosts are close enough if you need help with anything but leave you to enjoy the peace and serenity of their beautiful property. Thanks for having me 🌿

We stayed between Easter and Anzac Day with our two kids and loved Christine’s property. The water especially was our favourite part. We loved listening to the sound of water flowing, singing birds and playing with the purplish array of rocks we don’t see where we come from. Christine was welcoming and was kind enough to provide our firewood for our stay (thanks Tom for dropping off) we also managed to catch a yabbie in the dam. The kids also loved your dogs Buddy & Mate. How amazing you call this place your home. Thanks again for sharing it with us.

The best hipcamp I've been to yet, the camp-site was perfect. Flat grassy area with fire pit right on the banks of the best crystal clear swimming creek which was a highlight of the stay. The host Christine was very friendly and accommodating. 10/10

Just perfect. 😍 I cannot recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, Christine hospitality made us feel right at home, (which is why we will come back again and again). The property itself is simply perfect in every way—serene and tranquil.Privacy, untouched nature - it truly ticks all the boxes for a wonderful camping experience. If you're looking to relax by the river, or explore the stunning surroundings, solo, or with family and friends - this site has it all. Can’t wait to return!

We recently had the privilege of staying at Tarcool Camping Site, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, Christine, the host, made us feel incredibly welcome. She is warm, friendly, and truly goes the extra mile to ensure everyone is comfortable. The site itself is pure luxury in nature. The camping grounds are well-maintained, clean, and peaceful. The water is crystal clear, perfect for a refreshing swim. At night, the star viewing is breathtaking—one of the best we’ve ever seen. Lying back and taking in the night sky was a magical experience. If you’re looking for a comfortable and relaxing camping getaway with the best of nature and a touch of luxury, Tarcool Camping Site is the perfect spot. We can’t recommend it enough!

We had an amazing time here!! It was the perfect spot for a beginner swimmer like me, with calm, serene waters. The owner was incredibly kind and attentive, always checking in to make sure we were comfortable. There was a wood fire for a bonfire, and a BBQ pit was ready for us to use, making the experience even more enjoyable. It was truly a wonderful getaway.
