A lovely, peaceful spot. Absolutely incredible views of the rolling hills. It's a great location very close to town. We had great communication from Dave who was there on our arrival to show us to our spot. We had no issues but I'm confident that he would respond quickly if we did.
We'll definitely be back!

We had a great night at The Flats. The campsite was very tranquil and incredible sweeping views down the valley and of the mountains. The one other group that was there when we arrived left shortly after so we had the place to ourselves. The sunrise/sunsets were beautiful and the stars that came out at night were breathtaking. The host was very responsive and greeted us upon arrival. The reason we chose this location was it was the only dog-friendly option over the holidays close to Boonie Doon. The property is only a 10min drive from the centre of town so very good location. We had a small 4WD and were tent camping so a downside was that the area was covered in cow pats as the cows were in the same field and zero trees/shade. We had to set up the tent on top of cow pats and we couldn't stay at the campsite as it was just too hot. We set up and came back around 9pm. There are also no facilities, fine if you have a caravan/RV but difficult if tent camping. But the drive back to the public toilets in town was very quick. Also this site was at least $20 per night more than every other hipcamp property I have stayed at - including those with toilets/showers/kitchens/kiosks - so not great value for money considering that. I would recommend staying outside of the summer months and in a RV/caravan rather than tents, as the location and views are really spectacular.

Overall the place was out of the world and if you have clear sky, that's a bonus. We towed a caravan and hitched for a night and when I got out about 4 AM to step out to see how it looked, the clear sky got the best of the stars and it was worth just for that. My 20 & 15 year old boys enjoyed and boy, my dog had amazing fun too. We did some mini hikes or walks around and there's a nearby creek. It was a 100% self-serve with one of the host's friends driving us to our spot. We had an amazing bonfire and again, a first of it's kind we had and bought a half truck load of wood fire that lasted a few hours.
If you are on an off grid and on a budget, would recommend buying fire wood near the petrol station that's about 5 kilometer drive as I paid about 75 bucks for half truck of 6X4 which is on the upper side. Outside of that, the place is a paradise and Bonnie Doon is one of the jewels of Victoria. Do not miss the Victorian Rail Trail that's not very far from this place and the nearby Cafe had amazing breakfast and is worth visiting too

We had a fantastic stay at The Flats. The quiet tranquility and sweeping views down the valley made it an ideal place to unwind. Access was easy, even with a large van, and the customer service was top-notch—friendly, responsive, and thoughtful. Firewood was supplied in generous amounts, which made evenings by the fire even better.
One of the highlights was watching the local wildlife: sheep and cows grazing nearby, plus a wombat and its baby wandering through—such a treat! The whole experience felt grounded and serene, with just the right balance of comfort and nature

Absolutely love this place! This wasn't our first visit and it definitely won't be our last. The property is wonderfully peaceful and relaxing – just a great, chill atmosphere. David is an excellent host and a great communicator. 10/10, highly recommend! The wildlife are the best!! It's like the TV is on but way better than the crap they feed you.
The wood supply is great, it takes the stress away knowing that you can have a beautiful fire and not have to worry about wood.
David, this is just what people need, don't change what you're doing!! It's just perfect!!
When you work hard and need to get away, this is the answer!! Thanks David.

Exceptional farm stay! David the host is a ripping guy,
I highly recommend this spot, just outside of Bonnie doon and roughly 20 minutes to Mansfield or 20 minutes to Yarck (best bakery there) David is happy to supply a hefty load of firewood for a small fee.
We had a heap of rain on the sat/sun but the site stayed fairly dry and easy to access. The cows popped in to say hi.
Plenty of space with firepits provided. Will be back in spring!

We just love this place!! So peaceful and relaxing! We've even named one of the wombats Harry! We had a bonus light show the other night and was treated to a meteor. David is very responsive and easy to get along with.

Fantastic location in the valley perfect for a group get together. The best part is you can come here and see nobody for days and just relax or if you prefer town is a 5minute drive.
We will definitely be back!

got a bit of everything here at the flats, was wonderful. nothing short of a perfect spot, beautiful views, perfect sun/shade being in a valley with hills and trees. only a 5 minute drive for a swim.
had to tackle some 60km gusts but it was more then worth it. thanks david!

We took our 2 caravan’s for this trip and the location was perfect, relatively flat and very private. Beautiful views and David was very helpful and welcoming. We’ll definitely come back.

I don't even know where to start. This place is absolutely incredible and by far one of our most favourite places to camp. David's communication was impeccable and prompt. We instantly felt welcomed. The sunset was beautiful and the firewood we bought from David was unreal. I cannot recommend this place enough.
We were also lucky enough to share the space with Cowes, calves, sheep and some lamb. It was truly amazing and you could not get more outdoors and in nature if you tried.
Thank you for letting us stay David, we had an amazing weekend and we will be back very soon!!!
