Lovely little spot by the creek on the edge of Kinglake Park's gorgeous vegetation. Perfect for a little family little retreat, and just off Melbourne. Carly was super kind and helpful, and we spotted a deer!

River Camp
We really enjoyed our time at Castella River Farm. Carly was very helpful in providing all necessary information on where to go and how to get to our spot in the River Camp and providing an unobtrusive, comfortable stay.
The kids particularly enjoyed being close to the river and were lucky enough to spot a platypus in the wild. Being able to feed the horses in their space was great too.
The property was lovely and easily accessible with a clean and well set up camp site in the middle of nature.
I had an extremely relaxing time, especially with the added security of not being completely alone in the wild with myself and two kids in tow. So much so that I took the kids home and came back for a night on my own.

We loved our stay at Mountain Ash Camp. There's a small path that leads to a charming little stream, adding to the peaceful atmosphere. The site was clean and well-maintained. We stayed for one night, and it was just the change of scenery we needed.

River Camp
I camped at the River Site, and it's superb. Your own little area, completely surrounded by bush, with the Yea river right there. There's a fire circle, so no need to bring your own pit, a table with chairs, and a platform looking over the river. I loved the privacy, and felt like I was out in the bush. Can't wait to go back.

We loved this camp. Unfortunately it rained most of our trip we would like to come back in nicer weather. Fire ready for when we arrived and camp was flat and easy to set up. We booked the other camp too for total privacy and loved the little walk down the river from other camp. Would recommend 🙂

We loved our time at River Camp! Our pup loved the river and the campsite was pristine! We were very thankful that there was a fire pit, shovel and Carly had set up the kindling to start our campfire.
It was beautiful to hear the river at night time and with the campsite a 10 min drive to the next town, you have the best of both worlds. Thanks again for our stay!

We loved our two nights camping at Mountain Ash Camp and wish we could have stayed for another week. The kids loved playing in the river and all of the open space available at the property.
Great access to hiking trails and Yarra Valley attractions and Carly & Justin were great communicators and really responsive and helpful.
We are planning our return again soon!

If you want a nice close camp site on the North-Eastern outskirts of Melbourne than the "River Camp at Castella" just off the Melba Highway is a great spot. Very close to the Yarra Valley Wineries (5-min drive) it's a great location. The site is right on the riverbank, its clean and accessible with a 2-wheel drive vehicle and very private. The only downside - its noisy from traffic passing by on the Melba Highway and very noticeable at night. Hint: don't drive into the River Campsite with a trailer or campervan behind you, as you can turn around at the site, so reverse in if you have a camper trailer.

We had an amazing stay at this campsite over the weekend! The farm setting was absolutely stunning, with horses grazing nearby, adding such a peaceful vibe to the experience. The camping area was spacious, giving us plenty of room to set up and relax.
One of the highlights was the beautiful river, a perfect spot to unwind and connect with nature. The surrounding bush was equally breathtaking, offering lovely views and a tranquil atmosphere.
A special mention to the host, Carly, who was incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming. She made our stay even more enjoyable.
We’ll definitely be back to this wonderful place, it’s the perfect escape for anyone looking to enjoy nature and a peaceful farm setting!

Justin was very friendly and accommodating host. The property has a few horses in the upper paddock, and there is plenty of shade and privacy. Amazing property with loads of space. Directions to the camp were clear and concise.

Loved the private spot by the river. Perfect for a couple or small family. Great size fire pit, with the option of the brazier plus grill plate makes it very convenient. Best of both worlds with shade and sunlight for charging solar. Very prompt communications as well as warm welcome from the hosts. We loved it! Thank you.

We had a fantastic time camping there! The location was absolutely perfect, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. The campsite itself was spacious, clean, and well-maintained. I loved having the river right behind the site. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable camping experience.

Thanks Carly, for a wonderful getaway. Your beautiful site was the perfect spot for a recharge/reset. That convenient platform was the perfect spot to park and read by the bubbling river. Great that it was large enough for a small pop-up tent so that I could stay right by the river even when it rained.
Note for campers: as mentioned in other posts, there is some traffic noise from the highway. It wasn’t very distracting so, unless you’re going for a ‘middle of nowhere’ experience, it wouldn’t be a problem. It is very quiet at night and the kookaburras start up in the morning before the vehicles :)
