Perfect views of the Cathedral Ranges, well kept camping area, very hospitable hosts, a little bit of road noise but overall a great stay.

The host greeted us with hostility upon arrival. We were told that if anyone did not follow the rules or was considered disruptive, they would be “met with a shotgun” and blacklisted from Hipcamp and other camping apps because they are supposedly all linked. This made us feel very uncomfortable from the beginning. Throughout our stay, the host frequently hovered around the campsite area, often sitting in his car nearby, which made us feel like we were constantly being watched to ensure we were following the rules. During our stay, my 5-year-old son was watching some kangaroos near the campsite. Around 10 minutes later, the host approached my partner in a very hostile manner and stated that neighbours had complained because they had daughters and believed my partner was being “perverted.” This accusation was extremely upsetting and confusing, especially given there was a significant amount of bushland and trees between the areas. Ironically, the neighbouring property was playing loud music until around 1am and yelling throughout the night, which greatly disrupted our stay. We have stayed at several other Hipcamp sites and have never experienced anything like this before. We are a quiet and respectful family simply looking for a peaceful weekend away. Unfortunately, this stay made us feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, and as though we were being treated like prisoners rather than guests.

After being greeted “are you meant to be here?” And explained all the things we were not allowed to do or places not allowed to go we got told that the campers that “fuck around” will be dealt with a shotgun…. Very welcoming. My 5year old and I wandered the field at night with a torch to see some wildlife, which there is. But within 10 min the owner came back with apparently a complain from the next farm neighbours (having a party until 1am) complaining about our one single light. I pretty much got called a pedo because “they have young girls over there so don’t flash the light in the woods”. Then I had to explain to my son why we couldn’t have fun anymore. We very much felt like cattle only allowed to stay on our patch of grass without too much light. We were after a small family weekend, we don’t drink we don’t make noise and we used hipcamp at several occasions, this one is definitely the worse experience we had. If constant monitoring and added rules at every encounter is your thing go for it.

A great spot just off the main road but very peaceful. Large open space with huge pitch. Very convenient for a one night stay.

Overlanders 4x4

Lovely open field, beautiful backdrop with the mountains and a good feed from the stocked dam. The owners were lovely, had a long chat putting the world to rights. Our Overlanders 4wd club loved it and we’re certain to go back again.

Great location for exploring the cathedral ranges and surrounding area. Beautiful views, really nice spot. We were lucky to be the only campers there, can imagine it gets busier on weekends and holidays though. Would be great if you had a group and wanted some space to spread out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here at this great site and loved the Ranges view with amazing sunrises and sunsets. We met our friendly host Colin who was very helpful with suggestions. Close to the Cathedral Range SP where we did a couple of walks and spent some time visiting Marysville. We were able to have campfires each night. Highly recommended and we will be back again.

Kangaroo Gully

Lovely spot with lots of room for everyone, we stayed on kangaroo gully site and it was great for our van with a little shelter from the wind. Perfect.

Great open grass field with plenty of wind shelter from surrounding bushes and trees. We reserved both dam high side campsites and there was plenty of space. A gazebo is a must as it is an open field so there is no shade. No toilets on site but toilets are a quick 3 min drive down to the nearby local facilities that are very clean. A few of the other campers had dogs that kept wandering to us and my golden retriever loves to play but is easily misunderstood as he is massive so we kept having teething issues with other owners not recalling their dogs. Larnie was awesome and communicative and was quick to respond to our questions and I appreciated that greatly. The directions given to the campsite were clear and easy to understand. Rubbish disposal being offered was awesome but I wasn't sure where to bin things as we had quite a few big bags but I hope where we left the rubbish was okay. Signage for rubbish would be awesome! Overall we had a great stay! Thanks!

What an amazing place to stay, close to Marysville and plenty of creeks to swim in, the sunrise over the cathedrals was a highlight. We will be back that’s for sure

We had a great time. The area was big enough for our group of 6 families (we had both dam sites), will still ample of room for the kids to run around, ride their bikes and have lots of fun. Our dogs also loved the space. The dam was a hit for fishing and some of the group caught a few fish. It was a great base for exploring and loads of great swimming spots and places to visit nearby. It was hot during the day with not too much shade, but plenty of places to cool off. The hosts were great and very accommodating. We would love to go back!

We enjoyed a quiet stay at Halfway Gum By the Cathedral. Plenty of space for sites. Beautiful views and plenty of birds around. Owners were responsive and lovely to chat with.

A lovely place with beautiful views over the ranges. I was lucky enough to have the place to myself. While many of the camping sites are screened off from each other by trees/bush, they are still quite close to each other so I would imagine you would hear and see others if the place was busy.

Kangaroo Gully

We stayed at Kangaroo Gully. Nice and private and quiet. Lots to do around the area or just stay at camp. Did some fishing in the Dam and caught 2 redfin . Nice relaxing .,beautiful and peaceful place with magnificent views . Great Hosts who greeted us after setup to explain the area . Highly recommend 😊
