320 acres for you to explore! This farm is home to 50 cows, their calves, and a bunch of wildlife! Watch the calves running around, explore the bush tracks, sit by the creek, fish and enjoy the serenity! With 4 private campsites bordering the creek Aroona Park can cater to almost any size party; whether you’re camping solo, a couple on a bush getaway or a group looking for lots of space to spread out, our sites are perfectly positioned to ensure you feel like you’re all alone! WILDLIFE: All manner of birdlife, wombats, possums, wallabies, kangaroos, foxes, deer, water rats, platypus and trout. We are happy to point you toward the best places to see deer feeding and wallowing, fox cubs playing and platypus swimming. FARM: This is a functioning farm; there are cows and calves most of the year. Our cows are very friendly and curious, and whilst we endeavour to keep them away from the campsite, sometimes they can't help themselves! EXPLORING: Our property joins onto State Forest, which can be explored at guests own risk, once you set foot off our property, Hipcamp no longer insures against injury etc. Within our property, we have bush tracks, animal trails and a trickling stream running through a beautiful, shallow gorge, where many adventures have been had! WATER PLAY: Our sites make the most of the creek flowing through the property; Creek Ford and Shady Shallows have the best water access and are especially great for kids. Please be mindful of children around water, an adult must be present at all times. CAMPFIRES: Who doesn't love a good campfire?! We have numerous fire pits at the campsites that are there to be used. No chainsaws are to be used on the property, as per Hipcamps insurance policy. There is plenty of wood around that you are welcome to collect yourselves, otherwise, we can supply loads of wood for $50 (enough for a campfire over a long weekend). SETTING UP CAMP: Please be mindful of where you choose to set up your camp. While we endeavour to keep the sites as safe as possible, some hazards include; trees and limbs falling, snakes and thistles. TRACK CONDITION The track to the campsite is bumpy and needs to be driven slowly, we have had a 22ft caravan towed by a 100 series set up here with no troubles. FIREARMS: as per Hipcamps insurance policy, no firearms are to be used on the property. We understand that State Forest attracts hunting, which we are all for, however, we ask you to respect our wishes and keep all firearms legally stored while you are on our property. Do speak to us for some local knowledge about great hunting spots! WHAT'S AROUND? BENAMBRA is a small, remote farming community 15 minutes from the property. There you will find a post office and general store, a small playground, public toilets and a great pub open for beautiful meals and cold beers Tues-Sun nights! OMEO is about 30 minutes from the property, where there is a state-of-the-art pump track, brand new mountain bike trails, two pubs, a bakery, plenty of cafes/eateries, Foodworks, hardware supplies and a camping and fishing shop. Speak to us about local attractions and things to do in this historic area!

The Creek Ford Campsite is suitable for swags, tents, campers and vans. There is plenty of room to spread out, with this area accommodating groups of up to 5 families at a time! Mowed green grass, creek access and plenty of places to explore. Watch the platypus swimming and the wombats and deer come out in the evening, all from your campsite! Please be understanding of other campers looking to access the water. Creek Ford has the best creek access and is close to the track to access the water. Please see 'property details' for further information about what fun is to be had!

Bush Break is a huge site that can cater to small groups and large! It's distance from water (about 10-15 min walk or 2 min drive) may be perfect for families with littlies! This site is tucked away in a secluded part of the farm, with plenty of space and shade. You probably need a 4x4 vehicle to access this site and travel to and from the water.

Creek Ford Campsite
We loved our stay at Aroona Park at Creek Ford campsite. One of the resident Platypus greeted us each morning and late afternoon and we met a very friendly Wallaby. All in all a beautiful spot to relax by the creek, maybe catch a trout or two and enjoy the warmth of a campfire at night (with firewood delivered by the host at very reasonable price) Only recommendation would be to provide a Toilet to service all of the campsites.

Shady Shadows
We really enjoyed our stay at Aroona Park recently at the Shady Shallow campsite. Not only is it stunningly beautiful, the trickling creek and birdlife coupled with the peacefulness instantly relaxes you. We enjoyed meeting Ash and her hubby Stu and they were very helpful with local tips and directions. We were very fortunate to see platypi swimming freely in the creek - such a rare experience . There is mobile reception, albeit 2 bars on Telstra, but we were able to log on and do some emails etc. There is also some minimal TV reception for channel 2 on a normal aerial. We will be back

Creek Ford Campsite
This was a great site for my family - 3 boys and our Belgian malinois. We had the Creek site all to ourselves, the water was clear and shallow for the kids to play in, we saw platypus, wombat holes, kangaroos, heaps of birds. We went in early September, long trek from Wagga but worth it. Reception was ok but patchy. Kids loved spot lighting at night and building with old sticks and rocks during the day. It was quiet and peaceful and the sound of the tricking creek beside our large caravan was music to our ears. If you are looking for a secluded, private and relaxing site for your family and dog, this is for you.

Great camp site, with my campfire overlooking the running creek. A very relaxing spot few days. Great communication with Ashleigh, directions from the main road to the campsite was very clear and easy to follow.

This area was great we had the whole lot to our self the abundance of wild life was incredible at the camp and nereby not sure if it was because of winter ..we use this camp as a base to go to mount hotham not to far Really has that secluded vibe loved it great area great camp

Fantastic location, very quiet, and peaceful. It was just magical listening to the water lying in bed. Would have loved to stay longer. Host was very responsive and helpful to find the camp as we didn't arrive until after dark.

We absolutely loved our stay at Aroona Park. We were camped at Platypus Paradise which felt tucked away, but we found it easily with the detailed directions. We met our lovely hosts, Ash and Stu when they delivered firewood to our site, and got our fire roaring. We will definitely be back again!

Two nights enjoyed at Shady Shallows site. Flat, circular site with creek behind you and great mountain view in front. Morning sun, but falls into nice shade from early afternoon that was appreciated on unusually hot April days. Easy to get into from Omeo, good communication and whilst other sites, a good distance and not in direct sight lines of each other. Did a nice bush walk on the site, up a track and along the perimeter/creek line. Collected firewood on the property for the fire pit, but Mr Pendergast (sorry forgot your name) popped past with wood on offer. A nice relaxing 2 days before heading off on the Benambra-Corryong road (bumpy but beautiful scenery).

Beautiful spot with very well spaced campsites. Sadly we didn't spot any platypuses but plentiful firewood available which meant fabulous campfires. We were in a tent and on our second day the weather became showery but we still managed to enjoy the feel of the place and being right on the river. We were the only campers there so really had the run of the place to ourselves. Given the very positive reviews we had read about the hosts we were somewhat surprised and disappointed not to be met and greeted, nor checked on nor farewelled so we didn't actually meet Ashleigh. All previous communication with her was promptly responded to but my farewell message of thanks wasn't even acknowledged.

Lovely very private site ,shaded by the river with great views of the local countryside. Lots of birdlife and an abundance of firewood to pick up around the property. Ashleigh is a great host, Tnx for a lovely stay again. Will definitly be back.

Creek Ford Campsite
We stayed one night of the 4 nights we paid, the sign for 'Creek Ford' had fallen down the embankment so it was found via elimination and a few laps. We were the only campers at Aroona Park. The whole camp area was quite small, it could easily get crowded reducing privacy. The creek was low and just moving, very overgrown, but that is due to the time of year. Moved on to Jockers Flat on the Mita river for the last 3 nights.

Beautiful place to camp. Had some cracking weather for swimming. And even on a very wet day, sitting and watching the rain with the views… beautiful! We had some car troubles and when Stuart dropped past offered his assistance on his days off if needed. Above & beyond. Couldn’t recommend this spot any more!

This is my first foray into the Hip Camp fraternity, and it won't be my last. Our family had the pleasure of staying at Aroona Park over the New Year break and partook in 7 days of peaceful rest. We enjoyed the seclusion of our (Bush Break campsite) and weren’t bothered by the scrutiny of the Poled Herefords who took a minimal interest in our intrusion. The host, Ashleigh, provided us with detailed directions to the property and the campsite, the site had been well chosen and only a short drive to the creek to obtain water. We were blessed with warm sunny days during our stay, although if it had rained it would’ve been of little consequence due to the tranquillity of the location. The property is a 10-minute drive from Benambra, where we met the friendly publican and staff at the Benambra Hotel. The General store is worth a visit and the owners were up for a chat and information as to sites to visit nearby. Also close by is Taylors Crossing, a great swimming hole on the Mitta Mitta River and only a 30-minute drive. You can also take a similar timed route to Hinnomunjie Bridge on the Mitta Mitta River, although access to the water is limited. There is plenty to see and do around the area if you enquire and go exploring, a great location for a family getaway and a welcoming host with a beautiful property. What more could you want for a perfect getaway?

Great relaxing spot, really friendly hosts. Stayed for a week with 2 kids. Plenty of room move and far enough away from other guests to not disturb one another. Will be back again

We absolutely loved camping at Shady Shadows (Aroona Park)! The campsite was a mown grassy spot right by a shallow flowing stream (which the kids loved playing in), with a fire pit and shady tree for the kids to do crafts under. There was plenty of firewood around, the campsite was easy to access and fairly private with only a few other spots located a good distance away. Ashleigh was a friendly host and very pleasant to communicate with. We were able to explore and also relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the property.

Creek Ford Campsite
Camping at the Creek Ford site for the long weekend was great. Access was fairly easy towing a pod camper. I saw 3 different platypus in different parts of the creek, walked around the property with my dog, attempted to catch a fish without success and had a couple of camp oven dinners on the fire. There is lots of firewood around the property. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

Creek Ford Campsite
How lucky we were to have the whole area to ourselves for school holidays. Creek Ford is where we called home for 5 days. 6 adults and 6 kiddos with plenty of room for larger groups. Platypus Palace lived up to its name, the kids also enjoyed seeing a heap of other wildlife. 1 rainbow trout made it into the frypan for a feed. The stay was enjoyed by all, and we now have some first time campers hooked as well. Would love to stay again.
