Large flat area with waterfront camping on a sheltered cove behind Umbrella Point off the D'Entrecasteaux Channel with views towards the big island. The property is Land for Wildlife listed with a natural eucalypt woodland providing birdwatching opportunities plus friendly wallabies, potoroos, quolls echidnas, and possums. With direct water access and the free use of our sit-on kayaks, you can explore the Apollo Bay and Snake Bay coastline. We are 15 minutes from the ferry and a gateway to both North and South Bruny attractions including, House of Whisky, Dennes Point, and Quarantine Station. Bruny Island Oysters, the Cheese / Beer Factory, Adventure Bay, and the South Bruny National Park. An idyllic natural base camp to just relax or explore Bruny Island. Some important points to note: • There is open water on the block and easy access to the cove so no toddlers please. • Toilet/disposal facilities are not provided so you will need to be self-contained. • While a fire pit is provided please bring your own wood (or we can provide some for $TBC per bag). The collection of fallen timber is not allowed. • Please do not feed food scraps to the local wildlife as this can seriously affect their health. Bags of wallaby/potoroo pellets are provided but no more than one bag per evening, please. • Drinking water is provided but comes from our house tank so please use it sparingly. • Our house overlooks the campsite but we are a quiet retired couple, who will respect your privacy, and won’t bother you unless you need help or advice. The campsite is a large, level area adjacent to the waterfront providing easy parking for 1 or 2 vans alongside an on-ground timber deck with room left over for games (Pétanque/ Bocce boules provided). You’re also welcome to use our two sit-on kayaks to explore the local coastline. Sounds too energetic …….. how about settling back in our hammock with a book.

This was an amazing little hide away. So quiet and secluded. Could hear the birds when we woke up. Wallabies were out at dusk and dawn, which the kids loved. It was too windy for us to use, but there are some kayaks that can be used in the little cove which would be fantastic on a sunny day. 10/10 recommends!!

Great spot, absolutely stunning! So much wildlife to watch. The main house is pretty close but the owners are really lovely and gave us the space, so it still felt quite private. Highly recommend.

Lovely and Peaceful. We needed a couple of days RnR as we have been on the Road for over 2 months and this Hideaeay was Perfect. We really loved that you have the Whole Place to yourselves as they only take 1 Booking at a Time. We recommended this spot to a few of our friends who are now planning to stay there too when they next visit Bruny Island. Including a couple of Taswiegens who didn't even know about this place. Thanks for a lovely stay. We will be back next time we visit Tasmania from South Australia. Cheers L&D

Fantastic location, fire pit and wood for sale, Kayaks paddles and life jackets free to use. Camp close to owner but still very private. Great hosts.

A picturesque, peaceful stay. We stayed for 5 days in this amazing place surrounded by some very curious wallabies, potaroos and assorted bird life. Beautiful views of trees, water and sky. Lots of opportunities to kayak and bush walk in the surrounding area. Possibly the best Hipcamp we have stayed at!

This spot is absolutely stunning! Thanks you Dennis and Georgina for sharing it! Peaceful, private and unspoilt. Great twitching in the morning and lots of friendly wildlife. We had hardly any wind when we were there so the cove was lovely and serene. Be prepared for a couple of tight-ish corners on the property if towing a caravan and of course gravelly hills to get there, but worth the trip!

We loved our stay at Heron Cove, it was a highlight on our trip of Tassie. Dennis and Georgina were lovely, and the wildlife at the site was amazing. Very grateful to have had such a beautiful spot to ourselves, with quolls and potoroos running around our tent. Thanks heaps!

We loved our night here, it is a single campsite so you’ll have it all to yourself. The house is nearby but still felt private. The site is right near the water and was beautiful despite bad weather. Dennis was very friendly and helpful.

We really loved our 2 night stay at Heron Cove. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. We were a bit nervous about the driveway in as we are a full height 19.6ft (9m full length) caravan. Was no issue - just took it slow and we could easily navigate between the trees. Potaroos and quoll came out at night which was so special. Highly recommend. Thanks so much for opening up your site to campers 😊

Nice exclusive site with an outstanding view and easy water access for my kayak. Although owners live close it was very private and I never saw them apart from arrival and departure. Awesome amount of wildlife around anytime of the day .

Heron Cove is an absolutely beautiful spot. So peaceful, a great level spot for our tent, and a lovely firepit and swing chair with a stunning view. Dennis was most welcoming, and despite the campsite being near the house, we had complete privacy. Our little girl was also delighted by the evening visits from the local wildlife. Definitely recommend.

A beautiful spot to spend the night. We used the kayaks in the bay & utilised the fire pit to cook our dinner. The hosts house is directly behind the camping spot which wasn’t mentioned in the advertisement. Despite this, Dennis & Georgina were both friendly and did not bother us beyond a welcome.

Just incredible. Breathtaking views. So very pieceful. Hung out with wallabies and quolls. A fantastic play to stay, I wish we had longer on Bruny just to stay here!!!!

My family and I were very happy to stay at heron cove. Dennis came down and told us some information about the area. He was very helpful and friendly. To the point we went away for the day and he gathered our stuff and put in the little shed to stop it blowing away in the string wind gusts. Oysters everywhere in the bay Beautiful place, great host, highly recommended

A gorgeous block of land. All as described. Was met by Dennis who showed us the block and left us with some wallaby food. Saw wallabies, pademelons and quolls. Beautiful bay the kids could have stayed at forever!

Exceptional! Exactly as described and more. Dennis went out of the way to help us with a pot belly due to windy conditions. Lovely bay full of pacific oysters. Kids loved the native animals.

A great spot for an overnight stay. Dennis and Georgina were courteous hosts and came to say hello but then left us to explore. Please note their residence is approx 25metres from the camp and you are essentially in their backyard but it still felt we had the place to ourselves overlooking the cove. We were lucky to see wallabies, quolls and potoroos in our camp. It was quite windy when we were there. The fire pit was a great addition.
