This property is a portion of a large working farm. We have cattle, sheep, cropping, and horses. The property is approx 12,000 acres with amazing ranges that sometimes see snow in winter. Tent, Swag or Campervan at Heyson base camp. Enjoy the lovely Gum lined Dry Creek with blue stone ruins of times gone by. Enjoy a short hike to the Wind Turbines and see up close how magnificent these green energy windmills work. Or enjoy a hike along the famous Heyson Trail at the top of the range. See the stars in all their glory whilst cuddling up in front of the camp fire. Wake up to grazing cattle, sheep and wildlife on a beautiful working farm. The campsite is nestled amongst beautiful old gums and pine with sweeping views of the valley in front and a gorgeous range out the back. Plenty of Shade and places to explore. Dogs on Lead only. Host approval required at booking. Pit toilet available, BYO toilet paper. Bin provided for waste. Please use this or take it home with you. There are livestock on the property, please do not approach livestock unless Host is with you. Just a short drive of 30 minutes to the town of Burra you can enjoy the Passport Key and see the rich heritage of the copper mining era. Jamestown is 25 minutes drive where you can explore the bundaleer forest or see the tesla battery.

We booked last minute and the host responded quickly, which was great. The site was clean, including the drop toilet, and the land was beautiful and peaceful. It’s quite remote, so a nice relaxing evening.

Tracey is a clear communicator with a nice manner. The site is clean of rubbish (we picked up a very small amount). The dunny was clean. The view and atmosphere stunning. Nothing bad to say at all . Thks!!

Overall directions were easy to follow, sites were close together so was really glad we were the only ones there. Fine for a quick overnighter.

We absolutely loved our stay here on this beautiful property! Tracy was so accommodating letting us move across to another site, the views were amazing and we were able to have free rein exploring and hiking the hills on the property. Would definitely recommend to anyone and will definitely be back!

Really enjoyed our stay at camp 4. The views are fantastic. Great place to relax by the fire or in our case go for a 4 hour hike. Even got a guided tour of the wind turbines. Cleanest long drop I've seen. Hopeing to go back soon.

Site 6 - Heysen Base Camp
We enjoyed our time at Heysen's Base Camp. Was a little hard to find our site but once we located the site numbers on trees we were good to go. Everything else about the stay was great. Toilet is centrally located and well maintained, lots of space to explore and for the kids to run. The host checked in on us on the first night and was very friendly, offering advice of the area and happy to have a chat. The sites are spread out enough that we felt we had enough space but some would still be close enough if travelling in a group.

Access over a ploughed paddock might be difficult for unprepared vehicles especially after rain. This place was certainly quiet and secluded though.

Site 4 is very spacious, on a slight slant but manageable, plenty of shade and a short walk to the toilet. Long drop is the cleanest I’ve ever seen, very well maintained. The campsite is surrounded by many beautiful views and is very peaceful.

We really enjoyed Tracey’s camp. The camps are relatively spaced out divided by trees to maintain some privacy. Easy to find following the directions provided. Would stay again

Our friends and us loved camping on site 10 and 11 at Heysen Base Camp. We had a relaxing Easter Weekend and enjoyed the most beautiful view and a night sky filled with stars. It was peaceful and we rested. It was our second time camping here, and we won't mind doing it again.

The place itself is OK. Literally nothing more than a piece of land in the middle of nowhere, so can feel very isolated. The host was kind enough to leave firewood (thanks!) but the place is soooo windy it can be dangerous, especially at night. It happened to us and didn't get a good sleep. Of course not the host's fault, but be aware of it. There's great phone reception with Optus.

Stunning serenity. Endless paddock views as far as the eye can see to the distant turbine-topped hills. Fields and fields of tranquillity. Panoramic sunsets and sunrises, nearby grazing merino sheep and cows in the adjacent paddock. Plenty of shady spots, and far back enough from the road to hear nothing at all but the local farm and wildlife, very peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here on-route to and from the 2023 Jamestown airshow. Tracey made us feel very welcome, providing clear directions and instructions for our stay. Excellent stop-over location would stay here again.

All the sites were nice and grassy and mostly level. Very picturesque and quiet with sheep and cows close by. Wind turbines close by make for awesome views.

Quiet & peaceful spot. Clean longdrop 🤗 My only gripe was trying to find the location of our designated campsite, number 11. No other campers were able to assist us in identifying the numbering system . We drove around twice looking for any numbering system. Finally moved to a location far from the old building where we located a very small tin sign with the number 7 ! Stayed there 😬🤗 My request. Could host simply improve on visible site location numbers ? Cheers Rod

We had trouble finding the entrance as the advice sent to us applied to those travelling from the other end of a long (but decent) dirt road. The 2 farm gates are not hinged and as older campers we struggled a bit. We had the camp to ourselves and that was lovely, however the wind absolutely howled all night and I genuinely thought the tent would shred! There are wind turbines nearby so I guess lots of wind was to be expected! Tracey was helpful however, so I hope others get to enjoy the farm site.

We camped next to an old stone hut miles from any signs of life except some almost friendly cows. The scenery is breathtaking. We had a lovely adventure here, sadly cut short by freezing cold wind and rain…100% recommend. Many thanks to our hosts who were probably sensibly inside with a roaring fire. 😀🔥
