Lots of space to pick a location to camp. The lake was beautiful. Joy was a wonderful host. We will be back!

Lakeland Downs Camping
The grounds were lovely, lots of open space, shaded areas, the dam was cool and we enjoyed our stay, first of many family adventures away. The boat and paddles were a funny family bonding experience where we were serinated by our kids singing row you boat on repeat. Warm showers, clean amenities and very welcoming hosts that came through in the evenings to check-in on us and see if we needed anything at all, we were all settled and my kids loved Wolf, the young at heart old boy cattle dog that roamed around the camp grounds welcoming new comers. Highly recommend Lakeland Downs Camp Ground.

We enjoyed our stay. However during our 3 week trip we stayed at a mix of private properties and 2 caravan parks. All properties had flushing toilets, hot showers and some a washing machine. We paid per night for two of us a mix of $10.00, $25.00, $35.00 for unpowered sites on properties and $28.00 and $35.00 for powered sites in caravan parks. I feel that $25.00 per person per night at Lakeland Downs is a little expensive. Also I cannot warrant the $30 cleaning fee charged by Hip Camps

Lakeland Downs Camping
What a beautiful spot, we enjoyed two night here. Friendly donkeys, Wolf the resident retired cattle dog came and hung out around our van for a few hours enjoying a cuddle, firework on entry to campground to take and use at the provided fire pits, hot showers and toilets, 10/10 would recommend! Well done Joy
We enjoyed our night camped at Lakeland Downs camping so much we stayed for a second. Tried our luck fishing for the barra in the lake but no luck.
Host Joy is great and came by each evening to say hello. Even supplies free firewood.
The friendly resident dog Wolf kept us company & stayed with us.
We will be back again and bring doggie treats for Wolf.
Tip: petrol at the Lakeland Coffee Shop in the little town is 10c litre cheaper than the roadhouse!
Great station camp. Loved the wildlife and being able to paddle around the dam. Great facilities and firewood supplied. We will return.

Loved camping at Lakeland Downs! Beautiful spot, easy to access. Good ammenities. Joy was super friendly and helpful.
Good area with clean amenities. Lots of space and camp spots to choose from. We travelled with our Hybrid Van and had no issues. Joy makes sure you are ok and know where everything is and if you are lucky you get a visit from Wolf, Joys well mannered Kelpie who pops around to say hello to campers. We had a nice break here and would definitely go back. Thanks Joy for sharing your property.

Beautiful well kept area. Big camp grounds and good facilities
Perfect stop on our trip North. It was great to be able to pick our own spot on the bank of the dam as it wasn’t busy at all. Well maintained sites and the bonus was there was a hot shower and a few flushing toilets along with a camp kitchen for all your creature comforts. Another win was there is free firewood at the front gate in the trailer for guests to use. Joy was a great host popping in to say hello and tell us more about the place. My wife’s favourite was Wolf the camp dog who came to say hello and guarded our camp all night.

Such a great place. Beautiful scenery, peaceful atmosphere. Only a handful of campers there while we were. Owners greeted everyone and allowed us to use their firewood. Enjoyed watching the cattle being herded and saying hello to the donkeys. Will come back often. Thank you!

Great place to stay!! Would recommend and definitely come back again.
Lots of space, kayaks available to be used on the dam, good facilities.
Great views , great amenities, perfect spot to relax. Enjoyed the company of your retired working dog Wolf.

The hosts are very welcoming and the facilities are excellent. We had a very peaceful stay and Wolf was also very welcoming, although I’m sure he was just looking for snacks and tummy rubs. X

Beautiful space lovely and friendly host, the resident dog wolf was my daughters new best friend, such a beautiful animal
This was such a lovely peaceful place to camp. Love ‘Wolfe’ the cattle dog who kept us company.
Joy came down to ensure we were all good and if we needed any wood.
Highly recommend staying here.

Easy check in, great campsite selection, beautiful property and wildlife, friendly welcoming hosts, and a real true ‘Red Dog’!! Woof is the best!! He visits every campsite and spends time with visitors, makes us feel at home, really the best camp dog! The birdlife is incredible too :)

A peaceful, spacious campsite with beautiful views, clean amenities, free firewood and canoes. Owner was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We loved our stay and would definitely come back.
Excellent camp grounds, clean facilities and heaps of space. There were little boats to paddle around the dam in and Wolf the camp ground kelpie was friendly and chose to sleep in one of our camp chairs. Joy came and visited us at sunset and gave us the run down on the property. Will be coming back!
A relaxed weekend at Lakeland Downs Camping was so great. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Large spacious areas with that real country relax environment . Loads of opportunities to take some great photos of farm animals and wildlife. Having a fire was easy with wind shields and timber supplied. Even a washing machine available. Access to canoes and fishing or try your luck at those yabbies. The owner Joy is very friendly and welcoming full of knowledge and stories to share of the local area. If you need a little extra road trip Cooktown and Lions Den are just a short trip north. We went for local coffee in Lakeland it self. Can highly recommend a stay at Lakeland Downs Camping. Beautiful place.
