Great views, great breeze and good location. Only 20 minutes from Esk and not far from Brisbane or Toowoomba with plenty short drives to explore look outs, local towns, dams and waterways.
Only 2 camping spots, so nice and quiet. We were the only campers at the site, except for a lone lady who lasted 1 night in a tent, due to the toilet situation, but said she had booked 2 nights.
Friendly horses, especially the big brown mare, and we had a lovely visit from the farm dog Lexi every afternoon. The cows and potty calves also came close, but like the other 3 horses, a little shy.
Host at initial contact was good to deal with, however didn't see any owners over the 3 nights and 4 days we were there. Ditections: When you turn off the main road, go about 4km dpwn the well maintained 2wd access dirt road, and the gate is to the left, and we'll signed. Don't follow GPS to address given as it will take you well past the camping ground
Quiet and peacefull. A real bush camping spot. The two l showers are great, hot and well setup, however the only one supplied toilet, not so great and not really functioning and leaking water. Also no toilet paper was provided. Thankfully we were over prepared.
The camp area was well maintained and mowed, The dam they mention for swimming, I'm assuming is the big dam down a large steep hill from the camping area. To get to it, you need to travers thistles, bushes and Cactus, so not easily accessible.
We would have rated this camping spot a lot higher, if they provided a toilet which was functioning and maintained. To the host, please either replace or fix / empty the existing toilet. Maybe have a secondary toilet to access, should one fail.
We are regular bush campers, and happy with basic facilities e.g Drop toilets / Portable potties etc. Unfortunately, if facilities are advertised, we believe they should be provide and functioning.

Great camping site, up close and personal with horses and cows, had a lovely view, nice breeze and the scenery was incredible. Hosts were amazing, good genuine Aussies, would help out with just about anything. I meant to take photos of the toilet and showers as I couldn't find any and totally forgot, but trust me they are good! We had 6 people and everyone had a hot shower at some point in the trip. Bag of firewood was also provided. Highly recommend and can't thank Chloe and her family enough, it was my birthday weekend and they helped make it special.

Beautiful property with gorgeous views. Had cows and horses visit every day. Lexi the dog visited multiple times a day for cuddles and to play, she was the highlight of our stay! Only downside is no shade, so make sure you have your own 😊

Foothills was great! Such a nice getaway for us and the dogs, the site we had was great and the view was even better! Mick came over both days of our stay with firewood, it was nice to have a chat and say hello to the lovely dogs.
So handy having the toilet and showers facilities especially for multi night stays! We would definitely be keen to stay again.

Lovely quiet camp all to ourselves with the cows & horses and the gorgeous “Lexie” the farms dog that would come visit for a cuddle. Beautiful views. Easy to find and get to camp. Nice hot showers! Was great weekend away. Thanks Chloe.

We absolutely loved our time at Foothills! First time solo camping for this Mum and 3 boys. We took a footy, but they were just taken with the animals and surrounds. Roaming cattle and horses were a hit - and a beautiful pup named Lexie.. Chilly temps but kept warm with Hot showers #winning.
If you are after somewhere close enough to just escape for a few days, recharge your batteries and spend quality time in a beautiful environment.. Foothills will deliver! We will be back for sure!

We had a fantastic time. What a beautiful spot. My daughter (and us) loved the curious cattle who came for a visit, and a visit from the horses too. Was exactly what we were hoping for. Only one other group the first night, and we were the only ones the second night, which was what we had hoped for, nice and quiet. We had crap weather and still had a great time, so can't wait to return with better weather.

My partner and I spent two nights camping at this peaceful and scenic spot, 20 mins from Esk and it was exactly the escape we were looking for. The view alone was worth the trip. The rolling green hills, dense forest, and a wide open sky that gave us a real sense of space and calm.
The campfire setup was a highlight. A solid steel grill plate mounted over the stone lined fire pit, we were able to cook our meals on the property.
A huge thank you to Mick and Chloe for supplying more than enough firewood. Mick made sure we had a generous stack ready to go, and we never once had to worry about running out. If you’re after a place to disconnect and enjoy the basics, this spot has everything you need.
Thank you Chloe and Mick we look forward to next booking.

Positives: The site has a great view of the sky and is very dark, so great for star gazing. Its a nice drive and is up high on an east/west ridge looking north, with somewhat picturesque views. Access is via a 4klm dirt road but no problems for a 2 wheel drive. It was nice seeing some horses wandering around nearby when I arrived.
Negatives: its a cattle property so I was awoken by cows in my camp site multiple times during the night. I had the impression that I was booking a site where I would be on my own but there was another bunch of campers 100m away with direct line of site. Not terrible, but not what I had expected.

The night sky lights up with thousands of beautiful stars, the sun sets a beautiful orange. The dam is delightful to swim in and the horses and cows are lovely to watch.

Gorgeous location, but for me the first night was a waste of a trip. The owners friends were my campground neighbours, and they were very inconsiderate. They had two all terrain vehicles they hooned on endlessly for hours, well past dark and beyond. I could hear gravel spinning out from the driveway as they got about, high speeds all the way. It continued after all the fires were out, lights off, and their fellow campers were in bed. Apparently they were hunting deer in Deongwar state Forest.
They also started chainsawing the pile of wood beside my site at 7am sat morning.
I don't want to be an ass - pretty sure it was a new toy and they were enjoying themselves which I get! A curfew would go a long way to ensuring guests get the natural peace they are seeking, and quite to sleep. I don't drive two hours from the city just to listen to engines!
Thankfully the next two nights were much better. The hooning about calmed. The location is lovely -no shade, so bring plenty! Very windy too so peg down. But the view was lovely and the light pollution non existent. Incredible spot for star gazers. Monarch butterflies were everywhere!
If you don't care about noise then it's a great spot, but if you're sensitive and trying to escape like myself, I'd avoid the weekend.

Great place for a weekend camp. Chloe the host is really kind and easy going. We enjoyed the dam, dog loved it. We'll cut grass. Hot showers were clean with great water pressure. Beautiful stars at night, super peaceful. The cows came right up to our camp to say hi. We'll be back for another weekend soon.

Had an amazing stay at this secluded campsite last night! The views were absolutely stunning, with rolling hills in every direction. The swimming dam was perfect for a refreshing dip, and the cows roaming nearby added to the peaceful vibe. This place is a hidden gem, and I’ll definitely be returning!

Both campsites were plenty spacious and flat to set up easily on. Gorgeous altitude for perfect cool winds and exotic birdlife. The cabin was offered as well. With a curious visit of cows to accompany us around the dog. Also the dog was hanging out with us for the remainder of the dog was all good company with a greeting from the husband and good acquaintance.

Overall the site is located in a truly stunning spot, with a lovely lookout into the valley, a great dam and very friendly cows. Unfortunately our stay was not as restful as we had expected going in. There were earthworks occurring 20 m from our campsite with no warning from the host, and while they only lasted a few hours they were very loud and a heads up would have been appreciated. Additionally, while the listing states 2 dispersed sights there were 3 groups on the final night of our stay, and it was not as quiet as we had hoped reading other reviews with a farm road running through the campsite and quite a bit of movement with people coming in and out. Lexi, the farm dog, was super friendly, however did visit the site several times unattended, so would recommend anyone booking with pets knows this in advance. Our first evening was quite lovely, and we were very hopeful for the rest of our stay, however the lack of communication and unexpected surprises put a dampener on what would have otherwise been an outstanding trip.
