Our property is roughly 80 acres of secluded land situated on the outskirts of Rockhampton. Only a 5 minute drive to the Gracemere shopping centre, and less than 10 minutes to Rockhampton. Deadman's Lagoon is a large freshwater lagoon situated in the centre of our hay farm. It is perfect for swimming, fishing, boating and kayaking. It is a permanent lagoon, however water levels are affected by the amount of local rainfall and are naturally lower in the winter months. Camp along the bank of the lagoon dotted with gum trees, or choose a wide open space in the paddock. Bird life including pelicans, black swans, bustards, ducks and egrets are frequently spotted enjoying the water. You will have plenty of privacy as there is no residence on the farm, and the neighbours are some distance away. You may notice us coming throughout the day for general farm duties. We ask that guests stay out of our paddocks and only drive on the road to and from the campground. We'll often drop in to camp to say hello or stock up firewood if we are able. Campers must be fully self-contained as no facilities or drinking water are available on the property. You are responsible for taking any and all rubbish with you when you leave. Dumping of toilets and human waste on the property is strictly prohibited. The closest free dump point is located at the Information Centre on Gladstone Rd in Rockhampton. We can accommodate for up to 6 caravans/campers at a time spread out over our campground area which is roughly 5 acres. You are welcome to set up wherever you like within our campground, whether it be along the bank of the lagoon or in the paddock. Please be respectful of others' space when deciding where to set up your camp. Unfortunately due to people leaving rubbish in multiple old fire sites making it unsafe to slash and causes damage to our expensive equipment, we have had to go to a communal fire pit. Dogs welcome, we just ask that you clean up after them so that the campsite remains clean for other campers to enjoy. There is a dog pen you are welcome to use. The roads on the property can become boggy in wet weather, and in the case of excessive rainfall we may need to cancel your booking (refund provided in this case).Enjoy camping on the banks and surrounding grassy paddocks of Deadman's Lagoon. We had a good two nights, but would choose a different location for our next trip. There are loads of mozzies and the ground is really, really, really bumpy to get to the set up points. We put our mat down, but there were still lots and lots of holes in the ground that we kept tripping in. We understand that the description does say it's prone to flooding, but we didn't expect the amount of holes that were there. Communication was excellent, thank you.

The sunset over the paddock and the fresh water lake was a perfect backdrop to the camp spot. We only stayed one night, as the storm came over during the night, we did have the foresight to move onto the harder surfaced track around the edge of the property, otherwise we would have got bogged. Would recommend for warmer weather stays. Thank you for your hospitality.

We had a peaceful 5 nights on this property. Nice and easy to get into either Gracemere or Rockhampton. Felt safe and would stay again if up this way. Thanks Emily.

Gorgeous lagoon, heaps of space, the dog pen, firewood and fireplace were so convenient. Loved the bird life, saw my first Jabiru. ❤️

Nice camped by the lagoon,it was only us there so lovely and private. Would have liked a camp fire,but we sacrificed the firepit to be next to the water. We don't own an above ground firepit. Beautiful sunset and sunrise,loved waking up to the birds singing. Saw quite a few turtles as well. Good for a night stop over . Thank you Emily,communication was super clear and very friendly. 😃

Lagoon would be good for kids with canoes etc, however a lot of the site is very rutted with wheel tracks. would not be suitable in wet conditions. Pay to arrive during daylight. No facilities but close to Rockhampton. Better value camps to north of Rockhampton

Fantastic property just outside of rockhampton. Spent the week here on the lagoon by ourselves, such a relief after being in the free camp in rockhampton. Lagoon is fresh and clean with plenty of animal life about, we even spotted a platypus. Emily was quick to respond and an outstanding host. We will definitely be back to this little stretch of paradise. Take it slow on the bumps on the way in. Much thanks

Quiet and relaxing. Camped near the big tree and enjoyed the serenity. Make sure you actually read directions properly to the property and don’t just follow the coordinates on the map. Lucky I didn’t get divorced when we travelled down the boggy lane and my husband had to reverse the caravan 200 metres. Emily answered concerns quickly when it started to rain during the night as we were worried about how slippery it might get heading out the next morning. We chose to shift to firmer ground but probably didn’t need to. Slept better though knowing we had. Probably wouldn’t stay there if forecasted heavy rain. Used the fire pit and provided our own wood. Enjoyed our first camp using Hip Camp.

Great overnight stop Description is very well worded. We were in a hybrid caravan so found a perfect site by the water to set up. Loved the beautiful sunset and sunrise over the water and the wonderful bird life. We even had the pleasure of seeing turtles. Yes where we camped the ground was un level but it’s a packdock in a great location and perfect for us. We loved it and despite the mozzies and un even ground would recommend to anyone who is t keen on traditional caravan parks and is self sufficient Very scenic and description describes it well. We camped on a Thursday night and shared it with 2 other campsites but both were very quiet and respectful

Loved it ! So peaceful apart from the airport lol but it was nice seeing planes coming in and out. We got blessed with an awesome sunset as we got there. Love how open the whole site was and also how nicely maintained it is. Definitely recommend staying, the water was lovely to sit by and the location is great, nice and close to the highway for easy access

We booked with intentions of possibly staying 2 nights. Owner was very responsive online. Driving in we were a little concerned as the neighbours properties look a little undesirable. The Lagoon is beautiful however, no care has been given in preparing the grounds for campers. The grass was very overgrow, the whole property poorly maintained particularly the ground which had severe divots making it hard to enjoy. Perhaps the owners should co consider a grader to level the ground before charging the amount we paid. No facilities.

This paddock is rough, currently waterlogged and swampy is inhabited by a ferocious swarm of mozzies, the description is worthy of a real estate agents best banter.

Lovely property with lots of space. Lagoon is beautiful with lots of wildlife to look at. We loved that the property is out of town so we could unhitch our boat and leave it there safely while we went into town for the day. The hosts were really friendly. Would recommend making sure you have ample mosquito protection due to the proximity to the water.

We abosolutely loved staying here. We set up right on the bank of the lagoon and were the only ones there for 3 nights. Close to the shops but certainly didnt feel like it. Also very beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
