Pitch your tent or caravan on this beautiful 10 acre property, where each morning you can wake up to the horses at your front door. It's a short drive to the townships of Fernvale or Esk, where you will find all the shops and supply needs for your camping trip. Have a camp fire and take in the beautiful air of Coominya. Bring your push bike and hiking gear so you can walk the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and take in the beautiful views of the Somerset region. The Rail Trail path traces the former train corridor from Fernvale to Yarraman and is over 160km long in total. You can do small sections at a time. The path is accessible via any of the well-preserved former railway stations along the route. Not far from here, Somerset Dam is popular with water sports lovers, and fishing enthusiasts. Pack a picnic and settle in for the afternoon beneath a shady gum tree along Lake Somerset’s shores. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower and drinking water. Access to rubbish facilities is provided. The camping area is 2WD accessible.​​ Well-behaved leashed Pets are welcome. The site was pleasant and the hosts were great. We ended up paying $95 for two nights with power. When we thought it would be around the $50 mark. When we queried it we were told it was $20 a night and $25 for power which is not how we read the advert

Coominya Getaway
We had a lovely break at Coominya Getaway. Rebecca (and her folks) were very gracious and eager to please. The large designated sites are in the horse paddock behind the house (with the horses!). We were even visited by the inquisitive cows in the next paddock! Very conveniently located (5 mins to Coominya and it’s awesome pub), 15mins to Fernvale and Esk with their lovely cafes and markets. All in all, we had a fabulous weekend. Thank you Rebecca!

If you're looking for a well kept quiet spot to spend some time with horses, relaxing by a fire maybe some birdwatching this is the spot for you! Lynn & Rebecca always make you feel welcome. Close to bvrt & Shops but far enough for that country feel

Rebecca and Lyn were extremely hospitable and very helpful. Their friendly dogs came up to greet us and the horses are friendly too. A quiet, level area to camp. They also sell fresh eggs, so we bought some when leaving mm😋

Lovely quiet flat spot. Nobody else there although it wouldn’t matter anyway as all the sites are well spaced out. Horses were very friendly. Just off the back of the rail trail and walking distance to the local shops and pub.

I really enjoyed been at the Coominya Gateway campsite ! It was a lovely place with lovely people that take care of you ! The area where you pitch your tent is nice and you have you own intimacy ! I recommend 100% this campsite and they probably gonna see me again in the future!

we loved the peace & quite of the camp area, could see push bikes & runners in the distance on the rail trial. the owners were timely with their response & really helpful on arrival. The fire wood bundle was large and ready at the site when we arrived, the horses were friendly & really nice to have around. wonderful town and pub! the Fernvale Sunday market was great! we really enjoyed Coominya & the Coominya Getaway, we will return for more adventures.

We had a wonderful night at Rebecca’s place. Loved the welcoming committee of friendly horses. The powered site was very convenient and it was peaceful and quiet. We were in a caravan and found it easy to drive in off the main road. The fire pit was perfect on a cool winters night and we enjoyed sitting outside under the stars. The fresh eggs available for purchase was a nice touch. We would definitely stay again!

The camping site is flat and spacious, easy to access on 2wd. It's located near the bvrt and other bike trails, dams and hiking areas which are pretty good. The hosts are great. The horses roaming around free were pretty cool as well.

We had a nice relaxing time here over Labor Day long weekend. The horses are soo friendly, dogs played fetch with us and the kids collected the eggs each day. Nice and quiet with the whole place to ourselves.

I actually can’t believe that we were the only couple there for the most part. The pub was just around the corner (great pub meals), atmosphere was awesome. Now there are horses and they’re sometimes a little too friendly but largely leave you alone and the odd koala. There are eggs for sale and also some citrus and firewood is cheap at $10 per bag with plenty of kindling (and a few larger logs) lying around. They were lovely hosts that go out of their way to help. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely weekend away at Rebecca’s property over the Easter weekend very relaxing and peaceful time and her mum Lyn was so welcoming. She had lots of space to have the area all to ourselves and meet her beautiful horses

The site was very quiet with campers well spread out. Hosts were amazing, kind and very accommodating. This is a great spot if you are looking for somewhere to relax and unwind for a couple of days.

Really enjoyed our time here, Lyn was welcoming and the horse's are beautiful was lucky enough to be the only one there so plenty of space for the dogs to explore, the rail trail is close by as are shops. don't forget to get your farm fresh eggs at the gate with wood also available great spot and very well maintained. Already looking forward to our next visit.

We loved camping at Coominya Getaway It's a huge area with lots of space We loved feeding and interacting with the horses and other farm animals Really close to town & Lake Wivenhoe We got good telstra reception too

We really enjoyed our night at Coominya Getaway. It was wonderful to watch the horse gallop around and the dogs came and said a very friendly hello. Host Rebecca and Lyn were so welcoming. Would definitely visit again if we are in the area.

This was a last minute stay but ended up being such a wonderful surprise! Bec and her family are so friendly and welcoming, and the camping area is so spacious and peaceful with a good view of the stars at night. The dogs had a great time exploring the paddocks and we had so much fun waking up to horses cruising around near the camp, and coming close for some head pats and then a horse ride for our toddler. It’s a sweet spot so close to many places or awesome for a chilled night like we had.

Absolutely stunning. Never had such a good time at a campsite. We stayed for 3 nights and almost didn’t leave!! The hosts are so lovely and treated us like second family. We received great recommendations of great and private swimming areas as well as the hot spots for food and socialising. There were cows, horses, ducks, a goose called karen!! And goslings (like duck things, we called them all ryan gosling). Rebecca was so accommodating, as well as her mother! Felt super welcomed. Great area for camping, super open and spacious. Horses walk freely and are always happy to be fed! Great little towns from both ends. We absolutely loved Lowood!! Thank you again for this great escape!! Cannot wait to come again!
