It's a caravan park not a retreat
Not a positive experience at all and not at all what was promised in the listing. They state over 200 acres so you can be isolated and 'basically go anywhere', instead we were directed in a cramped small cleared area near a dry creek, other campers just meters away running chainsaws plus generators and loud music well past midnight. The host ,when contacted, brushed it off and told us to return when not so busy. They obviously had taken on too many campers than what their property could accomodate to keep with their advertising. Don't be fooled into thinking it is peaceful, we didn't even stay in the crowded powered section near the billabong where they had most people allocated to sites crammed even closer than most commercial caravan parks I have been too, we were in their 'isolated' unpowered self contained area that was still packed with campers and more turning up by the minute trying to cram in. They are very commercial with big signs up as a veterans retreat with public welcome. Which is all well and good if that is what you were expecting, but it is not what was advertised on this hicamp website. We felt they falsely advertised their set up for those like us seeking a remote getaway on a remote property, not a commercial caravan park like venture. When I tried to make contact with the owners I was told to come back when not busy, how am I supposed to know when they are busy? Maybe they shouldn't have taken so many bookings if wanting to keep to their brief and keep campers like us happy! They take bookings from their own website, people off the road passing by seeing the signs as well as hicamp. Wouldn't recommend if a quiet retreat in the bush is what you are looking for.
