A perfect spot to relax under the stars! A private bush camp experience with a seasonal creek, mango orchard and dam. Pitch your tent or set up your caravan either down near the dam, in a secluded bush setting, or closer to the house yard depending on what you prefer. Enjoy a bush walk around the property, taking in the natural Australian bush environment and enjoy the native wildlife. You may find kookaburras, king fishers, lizards, goannas and wallabies while exploring and can relax by a crackling fire at night. Help feed the farm animals when the owners are home. The goats love a good scratch! Each camp site is private with no other campers booked in the space on the same day. Guests are required to be fully self sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Property has secure key pad access.

The dam site is located down a grassy track off the main driveway. This location has a variety of bird life and the dam is frequented by wallabies and other bush creatures. There is space at this site for tents or camping vehicles including caravans. While there is no potable water at the site itself, you can fill up tanks at the hose near the front gate. The level of the dam is seasonal but there is water and wildlife all year round. There will be no other campers at this site during your stay. Currently the goats are able to access this area from 7am to around 4pm when they come back up to the house yard and are locked up for the night. If you are going to leave during the day, we recommend not leaving camping gear set up or cars at the campsite as they may be climbed on. Please message to discuss if you any questions.

This secluded site is in the bush land at the back of the property but has a wide track to fit camper trailers and caravans. The turn around area means vehicles can park up and drive out easily. When the owners are home, guests are welcome to help feed and pat the farm animals. This site is close to a seasonal creek that has ponds all year round and is not visible to the house yard. There will be no other visitors camping at this site. This site has no electricity or potable water options close by. However, you can fill tanks up using the tap next to the blue tub near the front gate.

A lovely peaceful place to camp. We stayed at the Dam site and there is also a Billabong site. Lovely flat bush camp sites. Nicole was quick to respond and also offered to bring us some wood for a fire. Highly recommended farm stay.

I was a bit dubious before we got there as it was so close to town, but I needed not of worried, it felt like a 1000 miles from town, quiet, peaceful, surprisingly treed and lots of shade at the camp spot A fantastic fire pit and just the sounds of a cow or two at night, and a great turn around area fir a camper It was so relaxing, we all loved it and will be back

Returned for a second visit, and the experience was just as wonderful as the first time! We again chose the dam site, and the kids had fun using the on site kyaks. They also had fun petting the cows and goats up near the house. We had a great time, and I feel that this place will become a regular campsite for us to visit. Thanks again!

Loved the camp site. Nicole was great with communication and directions to get to the property. The camp site was peaceful and private along with a supply of fire wood which was great! Strongly recommend if you’re looking for a bit of peace and relaxation. Thanks Nicole!

Lovely get away to Black River Bush Retreat. Quiet little spot down by a creek, wildlife and a fire pit. Nicole is a wonderful host and her property is beautiful and relaxing.

We loved our stay at Black River Bush Retreat, wish we had longer to stay. Nice and private quiet spot by the lagoon. Hosts Nicole and Greg are welcoming hosts and gave us great run down on the property. You can visit the farm animals up by the house. Walking trails mowed around the property. Will be back for sure. Note: Bring the mozzie repellant, my wife got covered in bites.

Absolutely stunning, easy to get to with clear instructions from the host. Lots of wildlife & a couple very curious cows who will stick their head in your van to say hello. Whole space to yourself, the dogs loved running around & had lots of new smells to sniff. So serene & peaceful, highly recommend & can't wait to return.

We asked for a private spot and it was delivered. We would have loved to have stayed both nights, but camping without the generator made for a stuffy night in the camper van. ( We wanted peace and quiet). If privacy is your thing, you would be hard up to beat this at this close to Townsville.

It’s hard to believe such a gorgeous spot is less than 30minutes from Townsville! The dam was private, open and surrounded by lovely bush land. Plenty of native bird life, and welcome visits from the farm animals too! Nicole was a responsive and attentive host, and we’ll definitely back!

Very nice property, friendly animals for children. A dog at the top. Our son loved it. The hosts are very available and attentive to detail. We recommend this place if you want to stay near Townsville.
