Darwin River Tavern is more than just a campground; it’s a true Top End outback destination where people come to relax, cool off, and experience the NT lifestyle. Set on a large rural property around 45 minutes from Darwin and on the way to Litchfield National Park, it’s the perfect base for travellers exploring waterfalls, swimming holes, fishing spots, and the surrounding bushland. We welcome everyone, from caravanners and campers to families, road trippers, workers, and travellers looking for somewhere easygoing with plenty of space. There’s room for large caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, tents, and groups, with both powered and unpowered camping available. Guests have access to hot showers, toilets, free laundry facilities, a tropical-style swimming pool, a fuel station, a supermarket, a post office, a bottle shop, and the tavern itself, which serves lunch and dinner daily. Families especially love the relaxed atmosphere, with a kids' playground, a pool table, a petting zoo, and friendly animals around the property, including buffalo, emus, and goats that give the place a real Territory feel. On weekends and event days, the venue really comes alive with live music, rodeos, markets, and community events. Whether you’re stopping for one night on the way to Litchfield or staying longer to unwind, Darwin River Tavern offers a genuine local experience that’s hard to find anywhere else.

Darwin River Tavern Camping offers plenty of open space for caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, rooftop tents, and traditional camping setups, with both powered and unpowered options available. The campground is spread across a large rural property, giving guests room to relax and enjoy the peaceful Top End atmosphere without feeling crowded. Guests have easy access to shared amenities including hot showers, toilets, free laundry facilities, a tropical-style swimming pool, playground, pool table area, and communal fire pit (seasonal conditions permitting). The Tavern, Bistro, Bottleshop, Supermarket, Fuel Station, and Post Office are all within walking distance from the camping area. Families love the relaxed environment and friendly animals around the property, including buffalo, goats, emus, and our small petting zoo. On weekends and special event days, guests may also enjoy live music, rodeos, and local community events. The campground is also a great base for exploring Litchfield National Park, Berry Springs, and other Top End attractions, all within an easy drive from the property.

Darwin River Tavern Unpowered
Unpowered campsite, big area with free showers, laundry, clean toilets. Lovely staff, the pub has a very nice decoration, incredible service, the food is very good too. Honestly... No negative things to say!

Great little stay!
Darwin River Powered Camping
We recently stayed 3 seperate nights over the last 2 weeks as a stop over. Cheap camping. Pub has excellent feed & full range of drinks. Pool was a great to cool down & chill. Toilets, shower, free washer & dryer. Good place for an overnight or cheap half way point between so many places! Thanks for having us!
