The entire front of the property has lake frontage and the western side is a deeper channel of water. Curlew Camp is situated at the mouth of the channel that feeds into the back of Lake Cargelligo. All children must be supervised at all times. Curlew Camp is a gem - if you love wide open spaces, fishing or birding, beautiful sunrises and sunsets - then this is your place 💙

It is small but nice, and you have ample space outside. Set up alongside a large shelter giving you a spacious undercover area to sit, unwind and soak up the magnificent lake views. You will be equipped with your own kitchen and double bed. A gas stove allows for cooking inside or use the BBQ supplied in the outdoor living area. Your shower is inside the caravan and an eco-friendly, modern composting toilet outside. The walk to the toilet is 60 steps approximately. AMENTITIES explained *12V power will run the lights, the water pump and charge phones *Bluetti 1000W Power Station - includes 2 power points to charge laptops, camera batteries as well as 2x USB-A ports and 2x USB-C ports. *GAS SUPPLY - runs fridge, hot water system, stovetop & barbeque ENSUITE INFO ​*Water connected directly from the lake meaning you have plenty for showering and washing (not for consumption) *Hot water powered by gas supply - Pls note: small hot water system - enough hot water for 5 minute shower (30 mins to re-heat) *Eco-friendly composting toilet outside caravan (approximately 60 steps from caravan) Sirocco caravan fan to help with air flow for those hot days. Wonderful camp ground - paradise for the kids kayaking and exploring the lake. A lovely respite and exciting birdwatching on the property and nearby mallee! Clean toilets, accessible rainwater and the shelter was a really helpful bonus!! Easy communication.

Rebecca’s instructions on how to get to the camp are spot on. The site is beautiful and the extra touches are well thought out. There’s tables and chairs and an bbq under the shelter. There was a clothes airer, with the whole undercover area clean and ready to use. There was also a wheelbarrow with kindling for the stone fire pit with wood able to be purchased. There is a composting toilet which was also really clean with the extra touches in the loo making it inviting (can you believe that’s possible for a composting toilet!). Another lovely touch was the water and basin set up beside the toilet, complete with a hand towel. Lots of bird life, and therefore bird song. It’s only a short drive into Lake Cargelligo, where we can recommend lunch at the Commercial Hotel.

What an amazing location and what an amazing camp. We will definitely be back. One of the best hipcamps we have stayed at. Wonderful facilities and both the sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. Highly recommended.

We’ve just finished a wonderful stay at Curlew Camp-Birds and Fishing. We’ve stayed here a number of times. We’re always so excited to arrive and so sad to leave! The site is on the lake’s edge - glorious sunrises and incredible serenity! You can camp or tow which we have done previously but for the second time we’ve glamped in an extremely well set up van! Everything you can think of has been provided and that was great this time because with the fuel issues at the moment it was great not to have to tow but still have great comfort on site! Bec and Sandy are the most welcoming hosts and can’t do enough to make your stay comfortable and are very generous in sharing their local knowledge! We highly recommend coming to Curlew for a wonderful holiday 😊

This spot is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend. Rebecca and Sandy are excellent hosts and provided everything to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. I hired their van to stay in and it exceeded expectations. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, relaxing by the lake and switching off for a few days. If you're a birdwatcher, the hides are fantastic. I'll definitely be back for those Pink Cockatoos!

Such a pleasure to visit again. A beautiful site with great facilities and birdlife. The composting toilet and shelter add some luxury to camping and the waterside location is peaceful and very scenic and also convenient to town. The bird hides on the owner's property are terrific too!

Gem on Curlew Waters, getting away

We spent Easter at this wonderful camp ground. The site was easy to find, and nestled along Curlew Waters around 15km outside Lake Cargelligo. The site was found grassy, with a stand of lakeside gums providing some shade, plus enough space to park up for solar generation. The pergola has a new gas BBQ, matting, clothes horse, tables and chairs and some deck chairs. The compost toilet provides a a waterless, nil smell technology that enhanced our experience. Five nights and didn't fill our toilet cassette. 2.5ha to explore, along with kayaks for paddling on the Lake. Our hosts were very friendly and checked in with us to ensure our experience is pleasant. This is a gem on the edge of the NSW outback. There's plenty to do, including bird watching, fishing, walking, relaxing and enjoying the local hospitality.

We visited Curlew Camp with two other families and we all had an absolutely lovely time here. Excellent facilities- undercover area, BBQ, some tables provided, kayaks and the composting toilet. We will definitely visit again. Great communication from Rebecca in the lead up and whilst we were there. We really appreciated her efforts in ensuring we had a great stay. Thank you 😊

This spot was great! Super private, easy to find and well maintained. The eco-bathroom was super clean and the undercover area was super homie feeling. Definitely tell it has a woman's touch! Our dogs loved swimming and running around crazy, fenced area so no stress about them running off.

Really beautiful lakefront site. Lots of supplied items to make your stay more comfortable ( bbq, toilet, potable water , clothes hanger , tables and comfy chairs). Set your tent up under the huge awning. Lake right there to cool off in during the day and kick back at night and stargaze at incredible night sky. Bec and Sandy lovey and friendly hosts. It’s also a birdwatchers dream with easy access to some great mallee hotspots and two awesome bid hides available to hire right next door

Glamping at Curlew Camp
Curlew Glamp "Bird & Bed"
Neil and I have just spent 4 amazing glamping nights in hosts, Rebecca and Sandy’s ‘super comfortable’ caravan located on their property in banks of Curlew Waters. The terrific , modern van I was very spacious and welcoming! It has a double bed, eating area, bathroom with a shower and other amenities, a fully kitted out kitchenette, and good storage. There’s a great undercover outdoor living space with a bbq area and comfortable chairs for gazing at that very hypnotic view of the lake and big starry night skies and the most magnificent sunrises and sunsets you could ever hope to see! There is a really well looked after, immaculate composting toilet with the best view of the lake😀! This was a return trip for us and as before, Bec and Sandy were the best hosts! Helpful, knowledgeable and so happy to share info about the local area. We’re keen birders and, for a small additional fee we were able to book the hides that Bec and Sandy have built on various locations on their property. We think that these are some of the best located hides we’ve ever used and honestly the bird life is astounding! These hides should not be missed if you’re a keen birder you’ll be blown away! We were! And although we didn’t, I know you can use kayaks on the lake as well as have a great fishing experience! We have always loved the serenity of Curlew Camp and glamping there just took it to a whole other level! Can’t wait to return!

Second visit to this camp and didn't disappoint. Beautiful spot with wide water frontage and a massive site. Now has everything a good site needs. Toilet, shelter and rubbish disposal. There is even a water tank to make use of any rainfall. There are fish to be caught and a huge variety of birdlife. Just a great place to camp

We had a beautiful camp at Curlew Camp. It was very peaceful and a beautiful sunset. And we were very lucky to see a Rakali swim close by to the shore. 👍 hoping to return sometime in the future with the grandchild.

Another great stay at Curlew. Beautiful spot with plenty of space and use of kayaks, shelter, tables and water tank. New improvements such as compost toilet will make an amazing hipcamp even better. Perfect for dogs. Great hosts and generous wood amount if ordered. Highly recommend

This was our 2nd attempt at staying here, wet weather got in the way last year ! This was everything we thought and hoped it to be Stunning scenery, lots of space , great set up with table, fire pit etc. 2 caravans. 2 dogs, 2 nights. Left very reluctantly. Definitely going back. Thanks Rebecca for the amazing communication & for sharing your bit of paradise !

It's a beautiful spot on the lake, with its own beach and little woods full of birds. The camping setup was basic but spot on, with shelter, fireplace, water, wood delivered as an option extra, and gorgeous views. Its also much more private than the free camps - a great option for a stopover or a holiday base in its own right.

We are fairly experienced hip campers, and Curlew Waters is totally on the top shelf. From excellent directions, clear signage, to a mountain of firewood waiting for us, we just loved it. A great break from a busy week, we just itched to get the camera out and soak in the tranquility. Thank you so much for having us, loved this beautiful place.

We loved our stay at Curlew Hip Camp it was so relaxing and the bird life was exceptional.One of the best things that attracted us was the huge undercover area,having some fresh water from a tank and firewood supplied for a fire on arrival was fantastic.

The owner was very kind and friendly to us and very responsive during communications. Real delight to deal with. They had left a nice booklet for us to browse through and get briefed on the town and the nature around the campsite. The site is rough enough to make it fun and all about the wilderness but has some comforts like a rainwater tank, and a very nice sturdy shelter. Lastly for the nature itself - nothing less than amazing. When we were there, there were a lot of beached fish from the cold waters I guess. The birds were feasting and we had a delightful spot right in the middle of it all. Our dog loves guarding the territory and playing around with the dead fish. The kayaks are awesome too, add a bit of something to do whilst we were there. Very good experience. More than what we expected, very reasonable costs too. Couldn't ask for better.
