Heart of the Country
11 sites · RVs, Tents12 acres · Bay Minette, ALHeart of the Country is our home and also your own personal twelve acre state park whenever you stay with us! We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65. I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We only have one 30 amp campsite, which is first come, first served. WIFI is available! (please ask for password). This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails. This is also a hobby farm with livestock (Donkey, Pony, two Goats, two Ducks and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you! My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from backing during the night. We also host an AirBnB, so other guests may be here as well. Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message and I will call you back. Suggested local attraction: Blakeley State Historic Park is four miles away.

Murchison Farm
99 sites · RVs, Tents267 acres · Pine Apple, AL This property has been in the family for 3 generations. C/2022 E3 (ZTF), A Grand Opportunity to View the Once in a Lifetime comet event, can be found at our primitive campground. We feature some of the darkest night skies East of The Mississippi River - with the exception of a Swamp in Georgia. We are blessed with a very minimum amount of light pollution. Included are 3 young Oak Trees ranging from 12" to several foot tall. All you have to do is dig them up. We call this part of our Rescue Oaks project. After you have chosen your 3 young trees, I am available to offer some tips for survival. Many of these young beauties reside in a high stress environment, and probably will not survive many years more. Some are freshly approaching 1st year maturity. It would be a shame to see them wasted in controlled burns, especially when they would make a great addition to someone else's property. I suggest you use your search engine to locate your best viewing location, and of course additional facts & information. From what I have read, It will be an event that can be viewed without use of telescopes - even to the naked eye for many. Why not get one of the best views around, at a special event price. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/a-green-comet-not-seen-since-the-stone-age-is-coming-our-way/ar-AA163xrb?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=2ab5e8652fb04a79937a8890a5083ad2 Use the promo code 66WKCVHX for a 25% discount off of normal prices. Awesome Night Skies and 3 free Oak Trees. Create great family memories and take home a reminder! Our Old Family Farm has been an agricultural farm, a cattle farm, and now is a tree farm and nature preserve. It is a mixture of open land, young timber, ancient hardwood, fishing ponds, spring heads, and streams. We even have a small section of swampland. We peruse an active controlled burn program and almost always have some freshly burned areas that are fairly clean of vegetation - as well as several areas with fresh regrowth. If You love nature and are interested in Primitive camping, You can also enjoy a dark sky experience in several of our open areas. I have had some stargazers tell me that we have the darkest skies around, east of the Mississippi River, with the exception of one other campground located east of us. Learn more about this land: Apparently, we are not meeting the expectations of everyone coming to camp with us. In order to prevent further disappointment, we have added the following paragraphs. I would like to begin our introduction by saying that We Are A Primitive Campground! We offer only a limited number of camp sites that are developed to convenience. We have many awesome spots, but most require a small to moderate amount of time to clean and dress up for Very Awesome Campsites! We Do Not Have huge numbers of fully developed campsites! We Do Have Tremendous Opportunities for You to Come and Commune with Nature, as you clear out your own personal campsite!   A simple cutting tool, such as a machete or ax, will make short and quick work out of your campsite prep. Murchison Farm has served in many different farming capacities, throughout generations of stewards. It's many operations have included row crops, cattle production, goat herds, horses, chicken and turkey production, as well as Tree farming. We are currently operating as a Tree Farm, Wildlife Preserve/Reserve, and Primitive Campground - in that order of priority. If you like clear wide-open areas, you should plan your camping trip for fall, winter, spring, and early summer. Because of our intense controlled burn schedule, you will find the farmland extremely lush and full of botanical growth - during the summer months. Grass, bushes, vines, low lying tree limbs, and a variety of other plants flourish to the point that the property appears overgrown and unkept. Not much else could be further from the truth. In fact, the massive growth can largely be attributed to all of the nutrients released from the burn process. Much of the lower plant growth is consumed, from our burn activity, and easily available for new growth. It takes special Nature fans, to enjoy the thriving environment, of our farm, to brave the thick undergrowth - old farm roads - and thriving wildlife - during Summer. With that being said, Nature's Nursery can be very rewarding for people, who are willing to put luxuries behind them for a little while. We currently do not offer publicly accessible water, electricity, nor advanced toiletry. All we currently offer are buckets, with a toiled lid. Please be sure to message us before your arrival, if you require one of those. We also currently have no inventory of firewood, available for purchase. With that being said, there is an abundance of firewood available around the farm. This includes firewood left by previous campers, as well as plenty of deadwood - in the form of fallen limbs, dead trees - some from storms. In the event that we restock on firewood, it can be found in the extras section. For those who are interested - we have a number of habitat improvement, and wildlife enhancement specials available for sale. Please be sure to ask us for details upon your arrival. In addition, we offer a number of heirloom shrubs, flowers, and other plants - some which can be seen here on Hipcamp.com be sure to contact us before placing your order, for availability and details. Primitive Camping may not be for everyone! I suggest that you take the Name, into account, and do a little research into the Actual Practice.  We offer some campsites which can be easily accessed with cars, but many may require 4-wheel drive, or low hanging branches which may scratch your vehicle. If You are looking for an orderly and well-groomed commercial Campground, Our Primitive Campground may not be for you.  Pitch your tent in one of our beautiful grass covered fields and enjoy access to 263 acres of pure nature. You can go fishing, swimming, hiking, or sit back and enjoy the sounds of nature on this farm out in the country.  You can even go wading in a beautiful creek.  Get off the beaten path! This no state park! If you live in the city, you will see stars, in the night sky, that you never get to see where you live. 35 minutes from Millers Ferry on the Alabama River.  50 minutes from Montgomery, the state capital, and 30 minutes from Cambrian Ridge golf course on the Robert Trent Golf Trail.  We are horse friendly and have a pen where you can keep your horses. Stalls are in the plans and hopefully should be completed sometimes late next year! Should you be interested, we also offer flowers, fruit trees, crepe myrtles, and other plants, for sale. Just ask, and I will be happy to show you what we have. We have added some of our Heirloom Plants and Seeds to our Hipcamp listing. You can purchase them, and I will have them waiting for you when you arrive! PLEASE REMEMBER, MURCHISON FARM IS A PRIVATELY OWNED CAMPGROUND. DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING AWAY THAT YOU DID NOT BRING IN! With the exception of any additional items you might purchase., such as flowers, plants, or Fat Lighter Kindling. Please adhere to this rule, so that we are not forced to raise our camping rates. We try diligently to provide a Top-Quality Environment, at the lowest rates possible! Thank YOU! We have made some major changes, that began this year! We Opened our Camping Season on March 1st and now extend it throughout the entire year! We have eliminated the hunting lease and are now a Wildlife Preserve! We are focused on a major effort to vastly increase our Wildflower populations as we have begun planting a minimum of 1 million new seeds, each year for the next 3 years! The colors should be awesome! We are planting strawberry patches, Blueberry bushes, and Fruit Trees, as well as improving existing stock!  Now is the perfect time to come and enjoy exploratory hikes and leisurely walks along our many roads and trails! There are very few tall grassy areas and most of the ground is still visible, from this year's controlled burns! The number of plants blossoming will steadily increase throughout this growing season, providing multicolored eye candy!  We have to boats available for rent, for those who would like to go boating on the ponds. Boat rental is $10 per day. Please let me know, at your arrival, if you would like to make a boat rental. You are responsible for Your boating party's safety and wellbeing.  If you are not experienced with boating, please do not try a boat rental until after you have achieved some experience and are knowledgeable of boating safety! We also have some bundles of Fat Pine Lighter Heart kindling, should you care to purchase one of those. It always comes in handy starting campfires, wherever you go! If you have not been exposed to the Corona Virus, we also offer a secluded area to come and lay low, until the crisis has passed! We are not gouging prices and we ask that you not come, if you have been exposed to the Virus, until you have passed through adequate quarantine!  IMPORTANT:  If You are getting tired of those 4 walls yet, Murchison Farm's Wildlife Preserve and Primitive Campground offers a Great Place to take a break and get Out into the Wide-Open Outdoors! Don't waste time, make Your Social Distancing Experience exciting and full of new experiences!
